This one I think came out in 2016 or 2017 but I read it back in 2020 and my review seems to have disappeared completely so I decided to re-write my review since I recommended it the other day to one of my GR friends.

The Corcoran Series by HelenKay Dimon is one of my all time favorites in the Harlequin Suspense/Intrigue category. The reason I loved this one so much is that even though the MCs are married and separated for 7 months, they are true to one another and still deeply in love. The Hero in particular was awesome with his protectiveness towards heroine and his devotion to stop at nothing to get his wife back. There was just something cute & sweet about them that even four years later I still remember this story and that is saying a lot because I can count in one hand of all the books I read in my lifetime that I love and remember.

Now some may find this too cheesy or over the top or even nitpick about this and that. Well, all I can say is that I for one loved it and wish there was more folks writing like this because this book started my love and obsession with fictional romances.

That said, I also recommend the rest of the team's stories as well. I don't think there was one I didn't like. All these guys are over the top Alpha Heroes who love deep and that's what I loved the most.

Here's the rest of them:

Ruthless by HelenKay Dimon
Fearless by HelenKay Dimon
Lawless by HelenKay Dimon
Relentless by HelenKay Dimon

Now I have to go back and re-read all of them again. 😁

I really enjoyed this book! It had non-stop action, suspense, and romance. The plot was for all practical purposes two black ops teams fighting against one another. Both teams are highly trained, have weapons, and gadgets.

Jana, and Connor had always loved one another. Love was never the problem in their marriage. Connor was ex black ops, and now worked in the security field. In his life time, he has made lots of enemy's. He wanted to wrap his wife up in bubble wrap and always protect her. Jana just craved a normal life. She walked way wanting just a temporary separation from Connor when she found a tracking device that Connor had put on her.

Jana was kidnapped from her office. The villains didn't want Jana. They were using her, to draw her husband out. That is when the action started. Connor showed up with his team. His team loved Jana, and would do anything to help Connor get her back. I loved how Jana's, and Connor's relationship grew during this time. I also loved how close the team was, and how well they worked together. You could tell they had been working together for years, and was friends on and off the clock.

This is a must read book. I am leaving you with two sample taking right from the book. enjoy!

Sample from chapter 4 - He had a hand wrapped around her arm and started tugging her toward the protective cover of the closest boulder when a chilling boom sent flames rocketing into the sky. The ground shook and the banging didn't stop. The rumblings stole his balance and his feet left the ground. A rush of heated wind punched into him and threw him backwards. One minute he held her and the next she was ripped from his grasp. The air caught them and when he landed the world went dark for a second.

Sample from chapter 5 - "Can you do anything with your watch?" His shoes skidded on the loose rocks as he stopped and glanced over at her. "Like what?" "I don't know." Her comment seemed silly when he looked at her like that, with the corner of his mouth curling up and his eyes sparkled with mischief, but she'd seen these guys do unbelievable things. Give them a paper clip and a piece of gum and they could rewire a house alarm. It was downright spooky.

**HelenKay is a personal friend, take this review however you’d like**

I’ve been really excited to finally read the story of Connor and his wife Jana in the Corcoran Team series from HelenKay Dimon. With all the hints at these two throughout the series so far, I was so excited to discover why they were no longer together. What I would have loved was a story of them sitting around, talking and having smexy times, but since that doesn’t really make much of a book, Ms. Dimon takes this pair on an adventure through the New Mexico desert. Someone is out to destroy Connor and they’re using Jana as bait. As they battle assassins, the elements and discover who is really behind the plot Connor and Jana rediscover why they fell in love. A really great read and a wonderful introduction to the travel team who I’m really excited to meet in future books in the series.

In Dimon’s romantic intrigue novel, Connor Bowen has been separated from his wife, Jana for seven months now. She accused him of being married more to his job than to her, but now his past has jeopardized her safety. After being brutally abducted, husband and wife are thrown together to ensure her safety. Seeing each other after so many months rekindles old feelings leaving both of them wondering if they’ll have a second chance or if the past will destroy them.

Another fast-paced addition to the Corcoran Team series.

I enjoyed this book about Connor and Jana. Jana is at work late one night when she is kidnapped by three strangers dressed all in black. She is unconscious at first then she wakes to find that the men are actually after her husband Connor.

Connor has always been overprotective of her and has even done a background check on a woman she met at the gym. She has never been happy about it. Now she wishes she had allowed him to be so overprotective.

I have been waiting to read the story of Connor and Jana and find out why they have been apart. In the previous books it's been easy to see that her absence is tearing Connor apart. At the end of the last one he had made the decision to go after her. But before he could do so, she was kidnapped.

The love between Connor and Jana had never been in question. There was always plenty of that. The problem was that, because of his past, Connor constantly worried about Jana's safety. He did everything he could to keep her safe, but tended to go a bit overboard. When she found that he had put tracking devices in her clothing and investigated people she came in contact with, she started to feel smothered. Nothing that she said to him seemed to make any difference. Finally she just had to get away, and went to Utah to work with a friend's charity. She didn't mean to stay away long, she just had to find a way to show Connor that they needed some balance.

The kidnappers seemed to know that the best way to get to Connor was through Jana. Where they made their mistake was in failing to understand that she meant just as much to Connor's team. They were not going to let Connor go in alone. The action was nonstop from the minute they all showed up. I loved seeing the closeness of the team and how they all stepped up to help him. I especially liked the way, at the beginning, they let him know that they had all been aware of what he was going through and had wanted to help if he had just let them in. That may have been where Connor starts to understand what Jana had been complaining about.

I loved Jana's confidence that Connor would arrive in time to save her. She never doubted his love for her. Once they saw each other again, the good things about their marriage were remembered. During their fight to discover who is threatening their lives they are also given the opportunity to confront their issues. It was really fun to see Connor as he finally started to listen to Jana and hear what she had been trying to tell him. You could see how hard it was at times, but he really did try. I also liked the way that Jana took responsibility for her part of the problem too. There were some great scenes where Jana really surprised Connor with what she was able to do. I think that went a long way toward laying some of his fear to rest.

The suspense part of the story was excellent. Jana had stumbled on something that didn't look right, and it was right after that the trouble started. One of the bad guys had two agendas going on. His identity really wasn't much of a surprise and was revealed fairly early in the book. Jana had been pretty clueless about him, but Connor had his number from the beginning. I loved that the team was completely with him on that feeling, which motivated them even more. There was another player in the game that I didn't figure out until nearly the end. That one added a whole other layer to the danger Jana was in. I loved seeing how that one worked out.

I really enjoyed seeing more of Cam, and also getting to know Holt and Shane a little better. All three are great at their jobs, but you could also see their respect and love for Connor. For such big, strong guys it was fun to see them get a bit clutchy whenever things like love, family or relationships were mentioned. I have high hopes that the author has plans for the three of them!

I felt like the heroine made a lot of dumb mistakes even though she kept saying she understood the danger surrounding her. I also thought she had unrealistic perception of her husband. I really liked Connor's tough, strong and sensitive characteristics.

HelenKay Dimon has one of the best series out there in the Corcoran Team. She puts a lot of heart into the Characters and where the story takes place at. One great series to read.

I do so love the team dynamics and how the traveling team are almost like little boys with their worship of the boss's wife. And finally seeing Connor in a situation where he was not in complete control and completely cool was interesting. The idea that love isn't always enough, and can at times smother, is a great thing to explore. Where is the line between protection and imprisoning? Where is the line between safe and smothered? Where does it go from respect to control? Or maybe I am reading too much into a great story of kidnapping, gun fights, and romance.
