When Logan Crenshaw comes home from work and discovers his wife is keeping a secret from him, he goes a little crazy. He steals her away to the Caribbean until she confesses what's wrong, but not before he loses it and goes completely territorial.
Always a fan of romantic fiction, I've always been in love with the alpha-male. So in love, I've never been quite satisfied with the restrictions of series romance. I like to get into a guy's mind and have him do or say exactly what he's feeling at the moment, and sometimes I shock even myself! I consider my stories soft erotica; one man, one woman, heterosexual. But since abiding love is always the happy ending I'm looking for, my couples are always monogamous. My guy would never share his woman with anyone, and she is always enough to satisfy him. Since I believe that love starts with lust, my stories are always highly sexual, explicit in nature, and hopefully totally satisfying to my readers. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoy writing them.
Goodreads is a bit funny today. 3 stars but cannot put in my stars for some reason. Will do it later. This was a very fast read with the alpha, overbearing, Logan.
Logan & Lauren (Temptation in Texas, #3) is a short and highly erotic novella. What makes it different is that Logan is one crazy dominant ALPHA male who I totally loved!
Logan arrives home one day and hears Lauren on the phone. He thinks she is having an affair when he overhears her conversation and Lauren isn't telling him who she was talking to. That just sets Logan on fire with jealousy. The heat starts right away.
"Was she having a fucking affair? Pain and fury clouded his brain at just the idea. "I'll destroy anybody who gets close to you. If anybody tries to fuck with you, in any goddamn way, I'll make them wish they were dead. You understand me, Lauren?"
Logan decides to take Lauren on a trip to save their marriage and find out what is going on. Of course the moment they get into their hotel room they are at it again. Lauren can't resist Logan.
""You're mine, Lauren. Isn't that right?" Jesus Christ she loved it when he was like this. Demanding, forceful, dominant. "Yes." His fingers bit into her wrist. "Say it." "I'm yours," she breathed out."
I thoroughly enjoyed this short gem of a book. If you like hot ALPHA males and beautifully written sex scenes then this book is for you!!! I'll be reading more from this author in the near future.
Miss Chance's books aren't for everyone... They're short, the heroes are assholes and they're predictable! They're like quickies, they're my drug! If I was a cat, her books would be my catnip!
Logan and Lauren' is a stand alone story with NO cliffhangers or anything like that , but it is SHORT!!! It's the perfect length for a quick read before bedtime or for waiting for a doctor's appointment.
Ok I wouldn't read this just before a gynae appoinment haha!!! It was good!
I read this because it said it was a standalone but it really isn't. Logan and Lauren have a whole backstory book (Pursuit), so read that first and then you can read this short story.
Logan and Lauren have been married for five years and have been very happy and very in love. One day Logan over hears a phone conversation Lauren is having that makes him think the worst. Logan knows after he hears Lauren on the phone that she is having an affair, he thought he would be angry and he is but he mostly feels panic.
Determined to keep Lauren at all costs Logan takes them away, away from all that is hurting their marriage so that he can keep them together. Lauren loves her husband as much as the day she fell in love and never wants to hurt him, but a misunderstanding does just that and she will have to show him that he is the only man she will ever love.
This is yet again another fantastic book by Lynda Chance. She has the magic touch when it comes to possessive crazy jealous in love men and i'm never disappointed by not only her books but her hero's as well. This is a great short read that left me satisfied and yet wishing it was longer. After every book I read from Lynda I always wish it was longer not because I feel like the story is missing something but because Lynda Chance is such a gifted author. Lynda Chance is what's right in novellas today.
This novelette is actually one longer ... well, not even an argument but a kind of a misunderstanding between a married couple who love the shit out of each other.
And I loved it immensely!
And it's really steamy and hot. Like really HAWT!!! And I know there's a book about their story (Pursuit) and I'm sure as hell gonna read it because I loved this OTT alpha Logan and his sweet wife Lauren. I want more of them!
Oh, and Lynda Chance lands on my 'fav authors' list.
If you need a quick reading (like when you're waiting for someone to arrive, or for an appointment or something like that) this is good for that. A sweet and fast read :)
I've gone along with many heroes and their obsessive, controlling alpha crap for the sake of fantasy but this guy is beyond OTT. The best part is when he escorts his wife to the airplane bathroom in first class. Who knows what she'd get up to if she got more than five feet away from him? I'm surprised he didn't go in the stall with her to verify she was only peeing and not accidentally making eye contact with another Y chromosome.
This short is just a bunch of boring sex scenes. Dominating assholes can be hot but the sex here was just perfunctory with a lot of "you're mine" dialogue thrown in. The pseudo conflict was flimsy at best but could've been forgiven if the sex or writing was more than meh.
I do not care for submissive or powerless women. Lauren is weak and pliable. Lauren is too easy to please and confused about love. The way her husband loves her is scary and yet she is so turned on by it. Lauren is like an empty vessel used for her husbands pleasure. Dialogue is annoying. I'm tired of women begging for sex. I'm tired of the term, " mine" being tossed around like a woman can be purchased or possessed. These erotic stories are getting ridiculous with ownership and possession. People should not want complete control over another human being. Maintaining ones self worth and identity is important for ones sanity. Why is she relinquishing all power to him? That was a stupid story. I do not agree with that kind of behavior from a man. That is not sexy at all.
3 1/2 stars (rounded up to 4 stars, because I love seeing an alpha male lose control over his woman)
Note: This quickie is better appreciated if you read Pursuit first. Even though that isn't the chronological order in which the books were released, getting to know how Logan and Lauren met and fell in love helped me to understand the dynamics of their relationship as a married couple.
I think this may be the first time I have EVER given a book a one star review! I have never read anything by Lynda Chance and this one makes me want to stay away from her others. I will probably read at least one more though because I don't want to judge her entire writing by this one book.
I absolutely hated this book. I don't know if the writer was trying to write a story about a dominate/submissive relationship but if so then she seriously failed. I mean I don't generally have too much of an issue with alpha males (they're not my favorite but I can deal) but Logan went way beyond alpha male. This man was just plain abusive! Others may not see it that way but it took all I had to finish the book. It was like being back in my own marriage where my now ex-husband treated me like his property. I mean the airplane scene OMG he would not even let her go to the damn bathroom by herself.
What was even worse was Lauren's reaction to her abusive husband. She freaking loved it. I mean seriously what the hell kind of message does this send to women. That as long as the sex is good you should stay in an abusive relationship!!!!!! It is hard enough for women to leave an abusive relationship but when a writer seems to condone it then what are women to think. I know that when I was in my abusive relationship, I used books to take me to another place. I lived life through the strength and love of the characters in my books. I am so glad I did not get this book during that time!
I could go on and on but the end result is the same! I did not like this book and I would not recommend it to anyone!
I’ve read books where the alpha male can be a jerk, overly protective, and even jealous, but the way Logan treats his wife, the woman he says he loves more than anything is borderline abusive. And I think “borderline” is going easy. It has nothing to do with him being physically rough either.
More than once, he talks to her like she’s a child and stupid, which is bad enough, but what cinched it for me was the fact that, at one point, Lauren actually thinks of how she knows she screws up a lot because he tells her that. Now, keep in mind that her “screw-up” was having contractors come to her house when she was there alone. Not going to a bad part of town in the middle of the night. Not picking up a hitchhiker. (None of which excuses Logan making her feel like a stupid child.) No, she simply didn’t wait for the man to be home to dare have a professional come in for work. And she consistently reminds herself that she “knew he was like this” and “just wanted to get [him being angry] over with.” That’s how people in abusive relationships sound, rationalizing, excusing, justifying.
This was the first thing I’ve read by this author and I won’t be reading anything else.

This is another novella about Logan and Lauren Crenshaw, Lynda Chance's sexy Texas couple from Pursuit. Logan and Lauren have been married for over 5 years and they're still crazy for one another. Logan comes home from work one night and overhears Lauren talking on the phone in her closet. He stops to listen to her side of the conversation and what he hears has him both furious and sick to his stomach. Could this really be happening ? Did Lauren betray him ? He makes plans to take her away the next day to the Bahamas. He's going to get to the bottom of what's going on and remind her who she belongs to.
Lauren doesn't need to apologize to Logan for keeping Jillian, his sister's secret. After all, Lauren made the agreement not to tell Logan. Hence, she has to keep her word and not betray Jillian's confidence. How can you expect her to keep a secret if she just quivers easily?
Plus, Lauren has the right to privacy and she wasn't keeping a secret from Logan; she was helping Jillian keep a secret from Logan. There's a difference.
Lastly, if "secrets" and "betrayal" goes hand in hand in Logan's vocabulary, then that's his problem for being narrow-minded.
It wasn't a bad story ( it helps that It was a freebie ) but it's like a continued epilogue from a longer novel-- "Pursuit" . It didn't engross me enough to want to read the first part -- the only thing I liked was that the couple was already married so that was different atleast.
It might be me, it might be because It hits very close to home, but romanticising men so jealous and possessive terrifies me. They seemingly always are one bad day away from murdering or hitting their woman because she might not be theirs anymore.
The narrative that these romance novels spin, that they are so aggressive, jealous, possessive so much so that she can’t even go to the toilet alone, but they would *never* hurt her, honestly doesn’t get me hot and bothered at all.
Lauren and Logan story features their life together after six years of marriage. Logan had doubts about Lauren and status of their relationship based on a phone conversation he over heard. The situation was a good thing though, as it renewed the side of Logan that stoke the fire in Lauren, all his dominant possessive sides the makes their sexual encounters steaming hot. A super enjoyable read that hits the spot.
