African American Christian Fiction: Sasha

Rate this book
Sasha is a single mother and youngest of three sisters. Drama follows her everywhere and her sisters, Stacey and Randi are fed up with her temper and untamed tongue. Their relationship with Sasha seems toxic due to her unbearable irresponsible lifestyle. She faces many trials and reacts harshly, failing to consider the consequences of her actions. Using her beauty to get herself out of trouble was typical, until finally she had a wake up call after killing two people.

Life Lessons God's Way or Your Way.

This is my first time reading this book by this author. The storyline is where three sisters are going through difficult situations. One is married with four kids Randi she struggles with low self esteem and weight and her husband sees nothing wrong,
Another sister Stacy has everything house, a business and a abusive controlling husband and Sasha that has a daughter and thinks the world revolves around her and in and out of relationships, searching for that man who will take care of her and her daughter Tia.
After several mishaps and a tragedy it has come to a point where the sisters choose God or choose the way of the enemy.
This book was a very good read and I felt what the author wanted to take away from this storyline. I definitely will read other books by this author.

With the high ratings I was hoping I would like this book, but I didn’t. Just wasn’t for me. My review is clearly in the minority here, but that’s ok.

In the novel we’re introduced to Sasha, Stacey, and Randi, sisters each with struggles that follow them throughout the story. Sasha is desperate to become married and they way in which she pursues this dream results in undesirable circumstances. Stacey is in an abusive and controlling marriage. Randi struggles with low self esteem and finds herself undesirable due to her weight. Through their trials and tribulations, their faith in God is either restored or renewed.

Each struggle is an important topic to explore, but I did not feel it was done well. It’s a short read, so many things were rushed or not fully resolved. Also, the way things were presented didn’t always sit right with me. I felt so much burden and onus was placed on women without exploring and discussing some the many factors that contribute to people’s personality and behaviors.

It would have also been nice if there was more editing done before publishing.

The book is a true lifestyle for some women, although I have never had to be in the situations, I do know someone who has been in Sasha's situation.
I would recommend this book to all women.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I saw my self in one of the characters. Self love is extremely important but most of all GOD is LOVE!! I wish the book was longer but it was definitely a great book. I look forward to reading more from this author. 👍🏾

Good message

First time reading this author's writing. I understand the message for the three sisters however, the story needs to be arranged.
I'm at a loss to say what is needed because I'm not a writer. I can just say that I have read writing that clearly lays out the story.

Excellent

I liked the fact that all three ladies had a story of their own. Ranch didn't judge her sisters, Stacey was controlled by her husband and Sasha only dream was to be loved. This was an awesome book. I didn't figure this one out. Great work.

The book could have been written better. I feel like it was juvenile. I liked the idea and the three characters so I finished it.

I read this for my Book club. We all loved it. The characters were well written and developed. The story will make you gasp, get angry and rejoice. Sasha's story is all too real. Her sisters and their dynamic were spot on. Ms Kinney is an author to watch. We have already chosen another book by her to read. It could use better editing thus the 4 stars instead of 5.

Lessons Learned

I gave this book five stars because I enjoyed it from the beginning to the end. The author is very detailed with her characters and their individual situations, that I felt that I knew them personally. Even though the book was about the main character, Sasha, I was able to learn a lesson from each one of the sisters. Many times while reading this book I gasped at some of the situations the characters were facing. I recommend this book to everyone!

Sasha

I thought this was a heart felt Christian story as told by Sasha. Although Sasha seemed to have great support systems in place, she continued to take the wrong road until it was too late to turn around. Good storyline & a touching read.

I really, really loved this book. It really touched me to the point I could vision everything that happened to the sisters. You need to have a series of the sisters.❤
