I was a little worried about this one for a while becuase it (the romance) really didn't get going until about half way through. Although it's always a pleasure to read Robyn Carr's writing and to immerse yourself in the town of Virgin River (and to visit with your favorite characters again-- meaning Jack), a lot of time was used to set up the backstory of Denny Cutler (first introduced in Promise Canyon) and his pretty blonde, 25-year-old ex-girlfriend Becca Timm--how they met, how/why they broke up, etc.; and a lot of time was spent on the Thanksgiving hunting/fishing expedition that Becca, her twin brother Rich, and his Marine buddies Troy and Dirk were taking at Virgin River. But once we got through all the necessary (and some not so necessary) details, and Denny and Becca start to talk about what happened to their relationship, then things started picking up.

You see, Rich and Denny were buddies who met while 19-year-old Marines, and that's how our heroine Becca first met Denny--when Rich brought him home with him one weekend. It was sort of a love/lust at first sight between those two--they dated for years while Becca was in college to become an elementary school teacher and while Denny eventually served in Iraq and it looked like they were headed for marriage once she graduated. But then fate intervened-- She knew her brother was planning a trip to Virgin River to visit Denny. And since she was currently unemployed from her schoolteacher job, maybe if she tagged along, faced Denny again after almost 3 years...she could finally get some closure and move on with her life, and commit herself to another man.
This was a reunited lovers story, pure and simple. You know Denny and Becca will get back together, but their relationship still faces some hurdles. Number one being--where will they live? Denny has a life in Virgin River, a place where he belongs and truly feels needed. Becca initially finds Virgin River a nice place to visit--but can she live there? Can Denny leave? All her friends, her family, her life is in San Diego. And can she really trust Denny not to dump her again if something goes wrong in his life? Will he really trust her this time with the good and the bad? Will he let her be an equal partner in their relationship when he needs help?
If you're a reader of this series, you know that once a character sets foot in Virgin River, they're never able to leave (lol)! Virgin River, with its quaintness and homeiness and its people and its "takes a village" attitude just have a way of seducing even the most reluctant visitor, and Becca was no exception. Becca was a character who also thrived on helping and being needed, and her time at Virgin River was a real eye-opener for her. I think she learned a lot about herself (with the help of the in-house/or should I say in-"bar" psychologist Jack Sheridan) and her true love Denny, and I enjoyed reading about her journey. I loved seeing her make friends with all the VR characters I've come to love, loved seeing her find a place where she could feel needed, and especially loved her reunion with Denny. Denny's not the most complicated of characters, he doesn't have a whole lot of baggage or issues, he's just a good man (and a good looking man!)
This wasn't RC's best book of the series, but to me it doesn't even matter anymore. Once I get in the groove reading these books, she could write anything and I'd fall under the spell. I enjoyed reading about the Christmas tree the whole town gets involved decorating, the big Thanksgiving dinner that Preacher cooks, the giant snowstorm that threatened the town, and the way that everyone in the community pulls together to help the less fortunate. Becca and Denny's romance was sweet and had some hot moments, and there were some instances that brought a tear or two to my eyes. If there was one thing though that could've made this story a bit better, was to read Denny's POV. I was dying to hear what he was thinking--I mean, I knew what he was telling Becca, but I would've loved to get inside his head.
If you enjoyed the rest of this outstanding series, you'll want to read this one. I wouldn't treat it as a stand alone though, since Denny was introduced a couple of books ago. This one doesn't quite pack the heat of some of the others, the plot isn't all that complicated, but with its holiday theme and reunion romance, its a sweet, enjoyable read. Expect to meet or hear about almost everyone from past books, spend a lot of time with Jack (the heart and soul of this series) and enjoy Becca and Denny and expect to see a lot of them in the future. A solid 4 1/2 stars

Wonderful second chance romance!
I loved getting more of the originals, like Jack and Preacher, and how the town all pulled together in the end. It was everything I adore about this fictional small mountain town!

These books are the perfect "getting into the holiday spirit" type of read. They have a quaint, almost Hallmark-movie type feel to them that leaves me feeling uplifted. That said, I don't think I'd have the patience to read them, as they're not as couple centered as I prefer in my romances. However, I've loved listening to them as I go about my day.

My Thoughts:
This was a very average and lack luster story. In all truth, it was actually quite dull. The characters were one-dimensional and uninteresting. There was nothing written about them that made me care about their or their relationship. I really just wanted the story to end. This was supposed to be a "Christmas" story but other than the neighborly goodwill during the snow storm, there was nothing Christmasy about this story. I thought both characters were depicted as immature and quite juvenile. Dennis was totally obnoxious towards Becca when she first arrived. But, Becca was not without fault. She manipulated her brother into taking her onto the trip because of her ulterior motive of resolving her feelings for Dennis. She was wishy-washy, in that she so easily terminated her one-year relationship with Doug. She had a sudden ephiphany that she wasn't in love with him and couldn't marry him. But interestingly enough, she was burning up the sheets with Dennis that very evening...yet, she still had unresolved issues with him.
I also hated the ending of the story...because it was just that. It wasn't a conclusion, it was just an ending that has her opening a package from her mother with a Christmas tree skirt with a note telling her to start her own traditions. I'm sorry but *yawn*....I sat through reading this story for three hours, could I have gotten a proper conclusion. There wasn't even a HEA for the characters...just an ending. Seriously, this was a "love" story afterall, Carr couldn't have provided her readers with a better ending?
At the end of the day, I made it through the story...with gritted teeth...and honestly, I didn't care for it at all. But, I appreciate the fact that so many others seemed to enjoy it. It just wasn't my cup of tea.

Another good, sweet romance in this series! I enjoyed Denver's story as well as seeing all the series favorites. Love this series because it's comfortable & low angst and you can count on a happy ever after. A great break from those darker, high angst reads! Fans of romance will love this book & series.

I have known the “Virgin River” book series for quite a long time, but didn’t manage to read any book in this series until this one. “Bring Me Home for Christmas” is book 17 in the series, but it is my first opportunity to dive into the world of the famous fictional small town that Robyn Carr so adeptly created. And Christmas is coming, which is a perfect time to enjoy this warm and romantic story.
This novel centers around Becca Timm and Denny Cutler - two young lovers who once had a beautiful love story, but had to go through a painful breakup due to various issues. This Christmas, Becca decided to go along with her twin brother Rich to Virgin River - where Denny was creating a life for himself - to see if she could get over this college relationship and end it once and for all so that she could move on, or if there were still deep feelings between them that needed to be acknowledged.
As if fate intervened, Becca had an unfortunate accident that left her ankle broken and twisted. There was no other way for her than to spend nearly her whole Christmas getaway at Virgin River with Denny literally by her side. This twist of fate brought these two young lovers closer together, and they started to discover what went wrong between them previously.
I really loved the fact that Becca and Denny decided to start a real conversation and chose to move past the initial friction when they met again to finally get down to the root of the problem: lack of communication. They were both so young during the time they were a couple; both were college students with a lot of things on their plate. Denny had to suffer from the grief of losing his mother to cancer, with no one really there to listen to his feelings, to console him, or to make him feel needed, except for the Marine Corps, which he decided to join twice.
Becca, though loved Denny very much, had too many activities and concerns to focus on at that time to really pay attention to Denny’s situation. Denny also played a part in their parting ways because he chose not to open up to his girlfriend about his emotional needs. In short, each of them was not ready to commit to such a relationship which requires a lot of more than love and passion.
With Christmas coming soon and a time spent at the beautiful Virgin River town, these two young lovebirds had a chance to reconnect and slowly realized what they did wrong the last time. This realization helped both Becca and Denny set things right between them and move forward with a fresher, more hopeful perspective regarding their future together. This is exactly what a romance novel should offer: a lesson in understanding, compromising, and working together as a team when it comes to maintaining a relationship.
I also loved the sense of community and spreading goodwill in Virgin River, where everyone banded together to help one another survive life in this small and underdeveloped town. Especially when it was winter time, which was very harsh for underprivileged families with little kids. This sense of community added more warmth and gentleness to the story, which is perfect for a Christmas-themed novel like this.

Another lovely addition to the Virgin River series. This one centers on ex-marine Denny Cutler one of the town’s newest residents. His search for his biological father brought him here months ago and he chose to stay. His marine buddies are coming to Virgin River for a visit, and to partake in some outdoor activities. One of those friends is Rich Timm, and along for the ride is Becca, his sister and Denny’s ex. She tricks her brother into bringing her along, but her real intention is to see Denny. Her current boyfriend Doug is visiting his family for Thanksgiving and has no idea what she’s up to. Becca regrets her bitter break-up with Denny and wants some closure, before she takes the next step with Doug, marriage.
I’ve loved Denny since he made his appearance in Virgin River and was excited to read his story. Becca’s sneaky ways annoyed me initially, but once she comes clean with Denny, Doug, and her family, I really admired her. She’s never stopped loving Denny, he is the man that stole her heart years ago and never gave it back! Slow to start, the book picks up, and they re-discover one another. What made this book for me was the involvement of all the characters that we’ve met over the years. At the heart of this addictive series is Jack Sheridan, and we get a lot of him in this book...YUM, along with Preacher another VR favorite of mine. Their families and all the wonderful residents celebrate the holidays, small-town America style. It just warms your soul how they pull together to insure that no one is left out or forgotten during the holiday season. The book was somewhat mellow and the ending anticlimactic, but none the less, very charming and it was good to be back in Virgin River. It feels like coming home!

When I started reading this book I was confused for a little bit, I couldn't remember Denny and what his connection to the town was. As soon as I remembered that Denny was the guy that thought Jack was his father and worked for Jilly it all clicked for me and I was excited to read about him. He really had some tough times and I really wanted him to find his HEA.
I will admit to not liking Becca at the start. She seemed like a manipulative witch! I was surprised that my feelings changed by the end of the book, by her actions and her opening her eyes I was rooting for her, I wanted her to realize just how special Virgin River was and how everyone there was so important to Denny.
The awkwardness between Denny and Becca at the start was fun. I loved how everyone but them seemed to know that they loved each other and belonged together despite their past and not having seen each other for 3 years. Their fight and injury that caused Becca to be stranded in town was so much the definition of Murphy's Law, if it can go wrong it will.
Being forced together all the time really allowed them to work out their differences from the past and this time they could actually talk with brutal honesty what went wrong all those years ago. I especially liked it when Becca realized how adrift Denny, and while she talked to him about everything in her life, he didn't.

It allows us to see some of our favorite past characters again. I loved Becca and Denny's story. There was a perfect mixture of new characters and glimpses of original favorites. There was no overblown drama or annoying rehashed plots.
The last two of three reads have been fantastic and reminded me of why I adore this series.

Always an amazing job...always!!!
Years ago Denny left Becca and now that she’s back in life in order to find closure before considering marriage to another man, he’s decided that he wants her. Yeah, that’s pretty much the plot right there. It’s a troupe that’s been done over and over, but it was still okay here because alone with Denny and Becca we also had some fun with the men that are all hanging out to hunt/fish. Lots of wit and humor. Plenty of steam but the last little bit of drama felt a bit contrived. Overall, enjoyable.

Always an amazing job...always!!!
Years ago Denny left Becca and now that she’s back in life in order to find closure before considering marriage to another man, he’s decided that he wants her. Yeah, that’s pretty much the plot right there. It’s a troupe that’s been done over and over, but it was still okay here because alone with Denny and Becca we also had some fun with the men that are all hanging out to hunt/fish. Lots of wit and humor. Plenty of steam but the last little bit of drama felt a bit contrived. Overall, enjoyable.

4 1/2 star romance. Virgin River is still not getting old for me, maybe not as moving as some of the first books, but almost always a wonderful read. This one was not all about romance, but more about a town coming together to help those in need. Very feel good. The story revolved around a second chance love between young sweethearts, Denny & Becca. They had a bad breakup 3 years earlier and both need closure, Becca especially since she is considering getting married. Although the heroes of VR are perfect, (almost too perfect at times) look perfect, say the perfect things, and have the perfect hearts, I can't get enough of them. Yes Denny was perfect too!
I love Virgin River and can't wait for the next 3 to come out. They are always moved to the front of my TBR file. BMHfC is deserving of a high mark, but not as good as many others in the series.

Rounding up from three and a half stars. I never completely warmed up to Becca. I would have liked more of Denny's POV since he's a more likable character.
Of course, this book made me cry several times. So many of them do and I love the Christmas story aspect.
Carr's writing, as always, is pretty didactic, but we didn't get much lecturing on women's health issues this time, so that's a plus. Warning: Mel does appear in this book. But she's mostly innocuous and doesn't have her own story line, so that's good.
The book focuses on the main couple which is a departure from most Virgin River books. I liked that aspect of it and that's probably what pushed it closer to four stars than three.
This is a non-agency 6 publication so, of course, I recommend supporting this series. ;-)

I wasn't wild about the heroine (Becca) at the beginning, but thankfully she grew on me. The story had just enough angst, and the second chance romance was sweet.
Another good addition to the series, I love this small town! The endearing characters and well developed community have provided so many hours of enjoyment. I'll be sad when I get to the last book.

Bring Me Home for Christmas, the 14th installment of Robyn Carr’s popular Virgin River series, gave me all of the warm and cozy feelings which make Virgin River special. The characters in the series feel like family and many plot lines are interwoven in each story. This book reminded me all of the reasons why I keep coming back to these books. Readers are treated to how neighbors help neighbors - no matter the circumstances - and how it’s a place where people can start over. It’s a reoccurring theme in these books and for me, it hit the mark. I’d been looking forward to Denny’s story since he was introduced a few books back. There haven’t been many second chance romances in these books, and I enjoyed discovering how Becca and Denny fell in love and how their relationship fell apart. The first few scenes with them fighting were passionate and heated, and I have to say that I love Denny’s laid back attitude and how he just fits right in Virgin River. It wouldn’t be a Virgin River story without a heroine pondering over starting over in life and the town working together to help others. I was touched by the scenes with Becca talking to her mother. It was refreshing to see a thriving mother/daughter relationship even when the two disagree. Most of these stories focus on older heroines and heroes and it was nice to read about a young couple in their mid twenties.

2.5 stars, rounded up. This was my first Robyn Carr book, and I was pretty disappointed. I was bored almost the whole way through. The most exciting part was when the female MC busted her leg, but the rest of the book was basically her navigating from place to place on her crutches and realizing what a special place Virgin River is. I've already purchased two other books by this author, so hopefully they are more engaging.

One of my favorite places to visit is Virgin River at Christmas. It's magical!
The Gist: Becca never got over her ex, Denny. It's been years and she's with a new guy but the past still haunts her so she crashes her brother's hunting weekend with the guys to finally put things to rest with Denny (one of her brother's friends and hunting buddies).
Yeah, so I was nervous about this one at first because cheating...is not my thing. So I was hesitant and a bit slow to get on board with things. BUT it worked out and didn't cross lines that shouldn't be crossed so things were good.
I really liked Denny. He's a good guy. Was lost for a while but found a place in life and in Virgin River. Works hard, has a plan, gives generously. I loved him and how he was with people. Becca it took me a minute but in the end I really liked her, too. She's a teacher and a bit lost herself. Has to get over the past and herself. She's sweet and has a way with kids. Has a kind heart.
The romance was a little slow going. Some animosity at the start. Lots of past hurts and mess ups to get past. The attraction. The fact she had a boyfriend (it was resolved before things happened, no worries). They were good together once they figured things out. A little steam and lots of caring. Working on things and figuring out how to move on and grow as individuals and a couple. It was sweet.
All in all, Bring Me Home for Christmas was a good story. It made me fall in love with Virgin River all over again. This town doesn't have much financially, maybe, but they have spirit and generous hearts and are always there for anyone in need. They're just amazing people doing the best they can in their little corner of the world. It really is a magical town especially during Christmas.

Let me begin by saying that I love the Virgin River series and when Denny Cutler first arrived there, I was dying to hear the rest of his story. However, after reading Bring Me Home for Christmas, I think I could have waited. I did not feel as if this story fit in with the rest of the series: the characters that avid followers have come to love have become peripheral, no real build of emotion and tension. Almost as if the relationship between Denny and Becca was a forgone conclusion and nothing else needed to be added. One of the things that I have come to love about this series is the secondary stories and lead-ins to future books; I got none of that here. This could have been a standalone novel.
The book is basically about the girl that got away. Denny left Becca to return to Iraq and she moved on without him. After a few years, she has begun to date a law student and it’s leading to marriage but before a proposal can be made, Becca decides to piggyback with her brother on a guys-only hunting trip. Really? Denny doesn’t know she’s coming and all the old feelings come right back. Throw in a broken ankle, a rival, and close quarters and the couple is once again, a couple. Denny decides to quit working at the farm and follow Becca back to San Diego. Did I mention that he quit his job? This doesn’t seem like the same Denny that we’ve been reading about.
I just couldn’t make the connection with this book. After having read all of the previous novels in this series, I guess it was time for the law of averages to kick in. I think I would have liked this book if it had been a single title; definitely not Virgin River material.

Bring Me Home For Christmas es el libro numero catorce de la serie Virgin River de Robyn Carr y tiene como protagonistas a Becca ( un nuevo personaje ) y Denny.
Esta lectura fue ideal para esta epoca del año, no solo por lo obvio, sino porque al terminar de leer este libro lo haces con una muy buena sensacion ( un poco idealista pero hermosa ), sobre todo en este momento del año.
Quizas esa es la razon principal de que disfrutara tanto esta historia, no tanto porque sea un libro impresionante sino porque tiene varias lecciones de vida que si todo el mundo se aplicara, el mundo seria muucho mejor.
Es una historia dulce, tierna y con mucho sentimiento, son tantas las emociones que te produce que consigue emocionarte ( o al menos a mi me emociono ).

Any who, I am so glad I did Denny!! We get a story of Denny you might remember him from a previous book. I always wanted to know if he got a HEA.
I loved how Becca got her brother to do her bidding, but it doesn’t end well for Becca a lot of heart ache and a lot of love and she is better than ever.
I loved this book, the town, and the characters I want to live in Virgin River!!
The narration I am telling you, is freakin’ fabulous! <3

Me ha parecido tan tierno este libro. Me ha gustado todo, los personajes, la relación, el ambiente, por su puesto... No tengo palabras. Hacía muchos libros que no volvía a Virgin River en navidad y creo que tiene un encanto único, me ha llenado el corazón y me ha hecho emocionarme. Ha sido precioso.

From reading reviews of other bloggers, I've decided that you either like Carr's Virgin River series, or you don't. Honestly speaking, with one or two exceptions, they are all basically the same story. An ex-military man finds his way to this remote North California mountain town and while there, finds love. There is usually some military baggage he needs to deal with, and she may have a skeleton or two in her closet, but in the end, love conquers all, and they live happily ever after out in the middle of nowhere surrounded by the best friends anyone could want. This book, set during the month between Thanksgiving and Christmas, is no different.
Becca and Denny dated for years and while they broke up some time ago, she's only now getting serious about someone else, but something doesn't seem right. She decides she needs to see Denny again, to get him out of her system once and for all. Of course we all knew that wasn't going to happen. We watch her and Denny get to know each other again and see her fall in love with Virgin River. We get to spend Christmas with all our friends there. In short, if you are a fan of the series, this should be on your list of Christmas reads. If you have read other books in the series and didn't like them--well, it's just like them. If this is your first Virgin River book, it stands alone though at times it seems a bit busy with characters with little purpose.

This is a second chance romance and your either a fan or one who tolerates them once in a while. Maybe you're one who avoids them at all costs. I am avoider myself but I stuck it out and tried to make it through. Denny pushed Becca away and left her. He comes back like two years later or something but by then she has shed her tears and moved on or thought she had.
She compares Doug her recent catch to what she had with Denny. Things with Doug are moving fast but she can't get Denny out of her thoughts and decides to go hunting with her brother who is meeting up with Denny and some guys from Virgin River. There is that rough patch they must get through and I always find it sad when the couple find out how much time they wasted.
I can say at least it wasn't 10 years like so many others. It's been like 3 years and there was one other thing I appreciated as the reader. Becca ends one relationship before beginning another. I respected her more knowing she knew it wasn't fair to leave Doug strung along. The 3 star rating is based off my enjoyment, not out of any fault of the author. It was my personal feelings on second chance romance. I was glad to see more of Preacher and Paige in this one. Enjoy!

This was very nearly a 2-star DNF for me. None of the characters were appealing at the start. Not Becca nor Denny. Especially not the douche boyfriend and the controlling mother. But then, the children got into the picture and the community banded together for the less fortunate and I was hooked. It's the dang Hallmark Christmas movie formula except with more sex.
