Vivian Hale doesn’t cope. She runs.

Spending the summer in small town Pennsylvania, working for minimum wage in the old trailer-turned-video-store, Vivian longs to move on after her world came crashing down around her. She’s given up on her acting dream and is willing to do whatever it takes to make enough money to get a place of her own and start over- anything, of course, but sacrifice her pride.

Oscar winning, LA director Keaton Thorne is back home for the first time in seven years, determined to survive one weekend with his family. As best man in his little brother’s wedding, he has one job- show up with his gorgeous wife and prove to everyone in the small town that he’s better than his father had ever been.

When Keaton makes her a clichéd offer that she just can’t refuse, Vivian tries to protect her heart. She knows the difference between right and wrong.

Between moral and immoral…

Between acting… and reality.

One weekend. One man.

One yes.

Spoiler free review of Books #1, #1.5 and #2

J&G Review

“Give us a chance, Vivian. Run to me.”

So far we have A.D.O.R.E.D this series! The dialogue, banter, romance, angst, passion, emotion and drama left us breathless not to mention our brand new…’be still our beating hearts’… book boyfriend left us swooooning! Seriously, Keaton Thorne is ‘the best!’. Yes, we’re ‘air quoting’ Keaton, so get over it buddy!

“It’s just a story, V. We all have a story.”

We received an email from a reader who told us to drop everything and read this book! She thought it was right up our ally and she was right! We ran the gauntlet of emotions; we laughed out loud, we welled up, did some serious swooning over Keaton, met a new author whose work we’re giddy over, and we loved every minute!

‘I thought of the collection of New Adult books that were lined up on my Kindle, wondering if his pulse was thundering and his dick was twitching.’

Kimberly Stedronsky told her story with a perfect balance of realism, passion, drama and humour which had us feverishly turning the pages. The expressive way in which she delivered the humour in this story ensured we read it with a huge smile on our faces as we feverishly devoured every word!

“You have too much time of your hands.”
“I have too much Vivian on my hands.”

The prologue had a sudden impact, which drew us into the story, leaving us pondering how Vivan had arrived at that point in her life. Just what had transpired up to and after that point? Well, Kimberly Stedronsky deliciously drip fed us tiny morsels of her story to keep us tantalisingly teased!

Keaton Thorne! Wow!!! WE. ARE. IN. LOVE with this flawed and bloody gorgeous man!! He was the complete book boyfriend. Good looking, sexy, strong, smart, charismatic, possessing a wonderful sarcastic wit and an enigmatic presence. Yep, he’s the stuff book boyfriends are made of and we couldn’t get enough of him. We think we fell more and more in love with him as the story progressed. He could definitely cause a city to heat and you really do need to meet this guy any which way you can.

“But you’re everything. You’re everything that I used to pretend existed out there for me., somewhere. You’re the beautiful girl who I would dream about when I’d lie awake at night, the one who’d make me laugh, piss me off, and impress me, all at the same fucking time."

Normally we’re not fans of bringing real life into our books but this author handled it in such a way that it enhanced the story. The movie and book references were so much fun…well, everything was. As you can tell, we really did love it.

We initially adored Vivian and found ourselves empathising with her. Whilst we may have become exasperated by some of her actions and reasoning, we felt as though we understood her. It was who she was and how she handled difficult situations. She was a little reckless and a lot impetuous, but her heart was in the right place. By book two it was a different story and we wanted to throttle her. Her thought process, her flip flopping drove us to the brink and she somehow even managed to bring Keaton down which upset us deeply. Thankfully, Kimberly Stedronsky pulled it back and had us once again connecting with Vivian. It was a close call, the angst was aplenty, and we were walking a tightrope of going off this character completely but luckily that wasn’t the case.

Told in a dual POV between Keaton and Vivian, it was a delight to get an insight into their inner thoughts which were hilarious. Their banter was priceless. We were reciting many classic lines whilst discussing the books after finishing. In fact, we’re still giggling and swooning!

‘She was gorgeous. Stunning. She took my breath away and gave me air to breathe.’

It would be a true crime not to pick up this series. It’s fun, flirty, angsty, emotional and addictive and you get to meet the delectable Mr Keaton Thorne!!! Yummy!!

‘He needed me. I needed him. Right? Isn’t this the way it goes? Isn’t this our blockbuster? I needed him to unbreak my heart, and he needed me to save him.’

For a fistful of dollars you can pick up and fall in love with Below Unforgiven, or for a few dollars more, you can grab the series! Either way, you need to get a hold of these books any which way you can!

‘Everyone in town introduced themselves by name and relations. Apparently, I was no exception. Maybe it was a precautionary measure to thwart inbreeding.’

A real winner! The good…there was LOTS of that! The bad…well, there wasn’t really any bad, except wanting to throw our Kindles once or twice…..and the ugly…..hmmm there wasn’t any of that either, but we had to get that Clint Eastwood title in here somewhere. An absolute recommend from us!!! We’re still on book cloud nine from this one! Enjoy but remember…Keaton is ours!!!

On a side note, we’ve been asked if it’s worth reading the novella or delving straight into books one and two – we say – absolutely read the novella. It reaches further into the characters and gives you a deeper understanding of the dynamics of the relationships. It really is an added bonus to the series we wouldn’t have missed!

The story was going great, amazing H and h, enough backstory for an extra cliche angst, steamy tension, an alpha male, everything I needed in a good NA book. Until, the freaking last few chapters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I cannot add enough exclamation marks to show how utterly frustrated I am at Vivian. What is going on in her head????????? I mean talk about being a complete b****. She's literally swinging the two guys around. Yes I get that she is a bit indecisive but this far more than that. She keeps taking the cowards way out. Yes she did accept that she runs away when she sees an obstacle but boy did I not expect this much of running away. Anyone with a proper mind can see that Mathew is not the one for her. What she feels for him is more like guilt and residue feelings as she ran away from him without properly finishing what they had. It is very easy to fall back to what you had, and she is doing exactly that. Oh god I am so mad as I write this review. Despite all of that I am going to fully submerge myself into the next book now and hope to god that these two finally grow up and stop acting like some sex crazed teenagers with nothing but themselves in there heads.

This story of a woman running away from the hard knocks of life should have had me wanting to lend a sympathetic shoulder to cry on to it female protagonist, cheering her on as she tries to salvage something from the sorrow of her situation but unfortunately, in the words of one of the male protagonists, her 'inability to make a fucking decision' just makes me want to punch her in the face...Sorry.

I find it unbelievable that I have found a heroine that I dislike more that Kiera in S.C. Stephen's Thoughtless, but I have, Vivian Hale. Every characteristic that rubbed me the wrong way with Kiera is magnified tri-fold in Vivian. Having run away from her fiancé, she meets and accepts a invitation from Keaton Thorne to his brother's wedding....Surprise, surprise, instalove, wham, bang, whollop, Vivian finds herself having to choose between Keaton and her, not so ex, fiancé Matthew Fowler. And I'm sorry but just because a heroine manages to pretty up her cheating with a tide-wave of emotional crap, doesn't make her any less of a cheater. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with cheating in fiction I just think that what's sauce for the gander is sauce for the goose, if a male protagonist behaved so cavalier with a two females' emotions, he would be the 'baddie' of the piece; well, Vivian with her helter-skelter behaviour is in my opinion a Douchepurse (female Douchbag). And what makes it annoying for me, as a reader, is the author's lack of creative balls to stand her position and claim it. No, instead she takes the clichéd way out and clouds a fictional character, who is basically emotional immature, with garbage.

Below Unforgiven is not a bad book, in fact it's fairly well written and in parts really funny, it just didn't ever lift higher than mediocre, primarily for the reasons I've already stated, I'm going to read the sequel because Stedronsky left the story hanging on a cliffie (way to make friends and influence people, Kimberly!) so I'm just going to dive it and get it over with....All I want for Christmas is the flounce gene...

I was so prepared to gush over this book and say how much I loved it but then THAT happened. Stupid, stupid cliffy! Ugh!

I hate that I couldn't give this a 5-star rating because up until that ending, this was a really fun book. The banter was so adorable, very sarcastic, cute. There were so many memorable laugh out loud lines. I love Keaton. I love Vivian - until she acted stupid and immature, that is. Well, her character just turned 21 after all so I guess that's quite understandable?

Anyhow, this was a really cute read. It's the type of story that obviously could happen in fiction so yes, I didn't mind that their love story happened over just a weekend because I still couldn't stop grinning anyway. I loved all the movie references and even the technical jargon. So, as much as I'm feeling frustrated right now, it was my own fault to begin with that I started this even when I knew it was going to end in a cliffy.

Wow!

This is the first book in a three book series. It's called the Movie Series. The Chapter titles are movies titles. Below Unforgiven in told in the dual POVs of Keaton and Vivian. It took me a little bit to figure out who's POV it was. Instead of putting Keaton or Vivian's name before the chapter with their POV, Kimberly Stedronsky put K or V. I missed that point at first.

Keaton, Vivian, Matthew, and Robin are very well written and easy to connect with. Like real people this characters are not perfect. There were some points of the book were I loved the character and other points were I didn't like them. I was never sure who's side Robin was on.

This book was a great quick read! Both Keaton and Vivian have demons in their past but I liked that we didn't have to wait long to find out what their demons are. This is the first book in the series so of course there is no HEA and yes there is a cliffhanger. I was shocked at the ending and surprised by the promise that Vivian made. Below Unforgiven is a great read. Even though it has a cliffhanger you will not be disappointed. I can't wait to read more.

This turned out to be much better than I expected. I was aware of a potential cliffhanger, so I went in to this expecting the worst and thank goodness for that! That ending hurt my stomach!
All of the characters were well written and the smartass/funny dialog between Keaton & V was perfect. This is somewhat of an unconventional love triangle and for once the female isn't horribly annoying. I really liked Vivian, the author did a good job at making her relatable because if you think about it in her situation what would you do??

After reading some of the reviews posted I thought, 'yeah this book could be good' but sadly it just wasn't for me. I found Vivian to be quite a frustrating character with her constant whiplash of emotions and indecisiveness when it came to who she loved. I found myself feeling sorry for Keaton as the world in the book was constantly acting against him. Overall this book wasn't terrible but I wouldn't read it again or recommend it to one of my friends.

Below Unforgiven is the first book in author Kimberly Stedronsky's Movie Trilogy and let me just say she grabs you from the start and you can't help but hang on as your taken for a ride. I could not put this book down and quickly finished.

We are introduced to Vivian right away and quickly realize from the back story that the past year of her life has not been easy. We are given a large enough piece of the story to draw our own conclusions, but we must wait to find out exactly what goes down. Then Keaton blows into the story and blows my ever lovin mind. I abso-freakin-lutely LOVED Keaton and all his unapologetic cockiness from the beginning.

The scene that Kim writes for the way Keaton and Vivian meet had me laughing and blushing just thinking what it would be like if I was in her place. Vivian is quick witted and rather into being in the spotlight of all situation. When I say this I mean that she grabs the situation and makes of it what she need it to be. She is young and naive but strong too. She rarely lets the situation, or scene own her, or so it would seem. This is in large part because she is an aspiring actress with a confidence that goes with it. She is able to handle Keaton and his forwardness and the chemistry between the two is undeniable.

This story is all about cliches and the irony of two people living a life that seems to be made of numeral cliches. Kim owns the cliches of the story, calls them out and even uses that to break the cliche. My favorite is her calling out how in so many freaking romance stories screwed up boy and screwed up girl get together and go back and forth knowing that the other has some major back history that made them how they are but we normally don't find out until 85% of the way through. I mean my god how many times have I read a book and all I thought was "tell him/her already!! If this was real life it would have been out by now!" So what does Kim do, she gets them to talk about before 85% like some people actually would! Hallelujah!

So the steam scenes between these two are pretty freaking hot, made majorly so by a dirty talking Keaton who knows what he wants. He likes to direct, what can he say he is a director. All I know is my heart is in this man's hands and all I want for him is everything he desires. I can't help it, cockiness and all I want nothing but the world for this man.

But this isn't a happy hollywood romance because this is life with it's surprise twist and aggravating turns. I thought I had it figured out, I hoped it would go one way. I was wrong. There is turmoil, there is frustration (me, I was freaking frustrated) and I might have wanted to bitch slap someone because COME ON! GET IT TOGETHER! That was my one complaint, that a certain someone suddenly seemed less sure of what he/she wanted. I watched the character's strength seep away it left me feeling anxious. If you read my reviews you know I don't handle anxiety too well. Luckily I didn't have to deal with it until the last part of the book because I seriously wanted to throttle someone.

At the end of the day I closed the book, sighed and closed my eyes with the whisper of a name on my lips "Keaton."

This was a dynamic story that kept me engaged and eager for more and think so many will love it too.

I wanted to read a book by Kimberly Stedronsky since I "collaborate" with her at an event to support indie writers. I loved her Guest posts and how she answered the questions. The style in which she wrote them promised that her works will meet my expectations. So, I was a bit nervous when I started reading her book. Emotions ultimately proved unnecessary because I liked Below Unforgiven; a lot.

I will not dwell too much on the subject. If you want to know more about it, read the author’s Guest Post here (http://mythicalbooks.blogspot.ro/2013...). It is honest and now, after I read the book, I can say that is accurate and comprehensive.

Chapters bear the titles of films whose subject or essence perfectly fit to the events that take place in that chapter. I know many of the movies, others I don’t or I forgot them, but even if you have not seen any of them, you will get the idea. Kimberly was inspired when she decided that the films’ world to be not just the link between characters or the starting point of a love story. The cinematic references and elements and also the ones to the romance literature (with all sub genres) provide the humor through lines and situations, highlight the feelings and insecurities of the characters, but also will point in an ironic, even self-ironic, way the clichés - removing thus the possible negative consequences that they might have on the story, because, isn’t it, life beats the movie ... or the book.

Kimberly plays with the reader like the cat with a mouse. The characters’ feelings are credible, sincere. After the first chapter you'll wonder what happened. Who is to blame, how they got there? The possibilities are many, and Vivian’s "innocence" cannot be questioned. Then, events will precipitate, the information will begin to emerge, fragmented enough to put your patience on fire. In the end... what happened?? Then you'll wonder: whom will she choose? One step forward, two steps back do not sound good. The doors are (still) open in both directions. The love triangle is one particularly successful, which makes you think and try to put yourself in place of the characters. There is no simply guilty, there is no black and white, and if you think you know the ending you might have surprises.

Add the naturalness of the way events occur, a richer vocabulary than the usual found in the romance literature of our day, a sustained pace, passion and heart challenges and you’ll get the book picture: a successful mix of humor and drama.

Pages will pass without you realizing, and the fact that you get close to the last page (well, close to 98% on Kindle) and everything is still messed up, will make you remember that it's only the first volume of the series. The waiting will be frustrating.

The description of the last chapter title, The Promise, fits perfectly to it: „she accepts to become the wealthy beauty of beauties with the curse that she would lose every man she loves, unless three things happen: snow falls in the spring, time moves backwards and the dead comes back to life.” Personally, I see all three things possible to happen, symbolically of course.

Happy reading!

Clint Eastwood .. to me is a very sexy man! I love how he is referred to in the book by Keaton and Vivian, I believe he is an Icon and his son Scott Eastwood is one FINE piece of man! Enough of that now.. you have Vivian a twenty year old chick who went through some hard stuff for a girl her age. Running away from her Ex Matthew, and the hard stuff and landing at her Gram's to live doesn't really make things easier but she tries to move on. Working in Video Store and taking up odds and ends jobs is what any sensible girls do to get on and live life right? But what happens when a hot guy walks in on you inspect the Porn DVD that has been claimed to be messed up? Keaton is a twenty-six year old Hollywood Producer, he's kind of an asshole and cocky but still HOT. Keaton makes Vivian an offer she can't refuse ... be his date to his youngest brothers wedding. I can't get enough of this book! I love Keaton even though he's a cocky bastard. He is just so damn HOT! Vivian is a tough cookie but is confused and still a litttttlllllllleeee naive , but nevertheless naive. I just couldn't get enough of Keaton and Vivian, they were just too hot together! The show that they put on would have anyone believing, it was THAT good. Keaton is a little crazy but WE like it! I gotta say that even though it was an act between the two it was a STEAMY FREAKIN ACT! HOLY Molly!! Just let me say I been flushed and thinking of Keaton all day! I even went to watch a comedy and I couldn't get him off my mind! ( damn books) LOL. What happens when feelings start developing? What happens when Matthew comes back to fight for Vivian? Who does she choose? Well I'm not gonna tell ya! Get the book and Read it! I promise you won't regret it! I'm soo siked to read the next book in the series, I can promise you THAT book will be one hell of a ride! I give it 5 stars! ~Chris :)

Let me start by saying that I absolutely LOVE this author!! I have read EVERY book she has written so far and I have LOVED each and every one. Kimberly does not disappoint!!

Below Unforgiven is, as I told a friend, an anxiety attack waiting to happen. The female character, Vivian is young and slightly naïve. She is torn between her first love Matthew and her new love Keaton. She has a history with Matthew. He is comfortable and safe, thinks through every option and weighs pros and cons before making a decision. Keaton is fly by the seat of your pants, don’t think about the consequences type of person. He’s passionate and they share a love of movies. (Vivian is a would be actress and Keaton is an award winning director in Hollywood) Both men love her and want her, but Vivian has trouble deciding.

This book is a nail biting, buckle up your seatbelt, rollercoaster ride. Both men are lovable. Keaton is arrogant, charismatic and sexy as hell. Matthew is good looking and charming in a geeky kind of way. He’s also stable and reliable. The back and forth drama of what this girl went through trying to decide what to do had me holding my breath and that’s without adding in the murders and the unexpected occurrence toward the end. This book is a cliff hanger at the end and I almost screamed at the author (ok, I did yell at her) but that doesn’t make me love the book any less. Its mystery, love, sex and suspenseful all rolled into one fantastic story. This is Kimberly’s first non-paranormal book and it’s a defiant DON’T MISS! “Oh Jesus, Mary and some other guy’s name that I couldn’t think of because all of my thoughts were stifled by the heat coming from between her legs.” I give Below Unforgiven and Kimberly 5 stars with 4 hands down the pants!

I count myself among the lucky few to receive an ARC of this awazing book. (Awazing is not a typo, but a blend of amazing and awesome!) Kimberly’s characters captivated me right from the start, which is not a surprise as I felt the same when reading her ROAM series which I highly recommend.

It is easy to fall in love with Vivian. She’s smart, funny, hardworking, beautiful, naïve and flawed all at the same time. Riddled with emotions, she is doing her level best to cope with her situation and bring a level of normalcy to her life. And then in walks Keaton.

Keaton has travelled back home to attend hid younger brother’s wedding. While he looks forward to seeing his siblings, he does not savor the idea of spending the weekend swatting away unwelcome attention of the female variety.

When Keaton encounters Vivian at his sister’s video store he sets a plan in motion. What neither of them expects is how that plan will affect them individually and collectively.

Vivian finds herself at a crossroads when her past and present collide leaving her to make the most difficult decision of her young life. You can’t help but want to reach in and try and help direct her to the decision you would make.

The story is filled with movie references and shows the author’s love of film. She integrates them flawlessly and allows the reader to conjure up their own memories as related to the references.

Below Unforgiven is a fabulous love story of boy meets girl filled with love, passion, heartache, loss and personal struggles. Can’t wait to read the next in the series!

I was fortunate enough to get an ARC of this fantastic book. Just like Kimberly Stedronsky's characters from her Roam series, I was immediately drawn to Vivian Hale, Keaton Thorne and the other people in the story.

It's a story of love, heartbreak and picking up the pieces of the broken heart and moving forward. Which isn't always as easy as it sounds.

The author lays everything out there and gives us background and details on the characters (which I always appreciate in a story). I could visualize each and every character.

Vivian Hale leaves her hometown and her dream of becoming an actress and lands up living with her grandmother. She is witty and fun and is recovering from complete heartache. In comes Keaton Thorne, the handsome movie director from Hollywood. He is visiting for the weekend, to attend his younger brother's wedding, after not being back in his hometown for seven years. He meets Vivian, offers her a proposition and their lives take off from there.

While reading the story, I wasn't sure which road Vivian would choose to travel. It kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what she would choose to do.

Below Unforgiven is a really great book with love, laughter, steamy scenes, and a realistic view of one woman's loss and triumph.

First off, I'm a HUGE fan of Stedronsky! I love the Roam Series, so of course I had to read this. Not to mention that it has been on my TBR since July.

I was NOT disappointed! I LOVED this book!

1 girl - two guys who are completely opposite, but have one thing in common, they both want Vivian.

First you have Matthew....the second I read him, I LOVED him so much. It was that she went on and on about him, he was just kinda "IT." Ya know? He said the right things, looked at her the right way and just overall made me smile. He was real.

Then you have Keaton. I loved his swagger, 'cause let's face it, he had it. He was cocky, pained and charming. I really loved him, too.

Both men are perfect for her, and she's in a sticky situation. Vivian is the girl you watch and scream, telling her what to do, because you can see it. But at the same time, if you were in that situation, would you really do anything differently?

Below Unforgiven had me laughing, grinning, crying and growling. (Yes, growling, grumbling, whatever you want to call it.) I can't wait to read the rest of the trilogy and I know that it will be just as fabulous! SO LOVED THIS BOOK!

I had added this book to my to read list because Kimberly is going to be at the Cleveland Author Event. When I added it, it had caught my eye. I dug through my to read list until I found it. I was hesitant when I read that there was a cliff hanger, but I was just so intrigued by the summery that I couldn't help it.
Kimberly Stedronsky did not disappoint (part of me was hoping to be disappointing so the cliff hanger did not eat away at me until May lol, no such luck). I found Vivian the perfect combination of indecisive and determined, just like any good female lead in a romance she was frustrating (much like any real woman would be). I enjoyed how honest Keaton was, with himself and with Vivian, it is a real change to the "hidden past" story lines.
I don't like putting spoilers in reviews, so I wont, but I will say that this is a must read, and be prepared for the all consuming cliff hanger that leaves you with quite the "reading hangover".

I became addicted to Kimberly Stedronsky's paranormal romance series Roam. When she announced the Movie Trilogy I became very excited! For me romance is romance, with or without the paranormal aspect.

When I got Below Unforgiven I was instantly interested in Vivian's story. Her wit and her constant air quotes cracked me up. The sizzling sexual tension between Vivian and Keaton was tangible and so believable. I was just sitting waiting for one of them to make the grand gesture. And when it did happen it was sweet and heart felt. The end had me reeling and now I'm itching for book number two!!!

This book head so many great qualities! The banner between Vivian and Keaton was perfect. And while Keaton was so incredibly cocky, I couldn't help myself from liking him. I also loved how the chapters were movie titles, yet related to the store in that chapter. The only person to give me a little crazy in the book was Vivian. I really just wanted her to make up her mind and figure her stupid out. But, I guess that's what also makes the book good! Overall, I really liked this book, and now I want the next one...like now!!!

I was slow to get and read this book. Being a lover of the Roam series, I was so afraid to read this. I admit I was confused at first because the book just took off, which was so different, but also totally awesome! I lover every character and am excited to read the next 2 books. The steamy love seen was very good. Again Kimberly amazed me with such real characters and plot. Kimberly has truly won me over as a devoted reader and fan!! You rock Kimberly!!!!

I'm a little disappointed in this book. I really enjoyed the Roam series by this author but this is a little too juvenile for me. Some of the scenes made me cringe. The entire wedding ordeal was just a pubescent mess. I see this book is highly rated by others. I guess it just wasn't for me. And that's ok.

You won't be able to put this one down. 4.5
Well developed angsty, emotional roller coaster ride. At times you'll be swoony, sighing, and angry all at once.
Don't let the covers detour you, I binged this series and enjoyed every minute of it.

This undecided girl...

I've never been so upset with a heroine in a book like I am with Vivian Hale. Make a decision, please. I think it would be best if the author would just leave her stranded somewhere since she needs time to think.

I was not a fan of the weekend instant love thing, but I did find myself rooting for Keaton. Although later I found myself wanting Matthew to have the happiness that he deserves. I finally came to the conclusion the Vivian is the problem and I'm hoping the men realize this and leave her.

Yes, I recommend this book. Just be prepared for the whiplash that is Vivian. On to book 2.

The synopsis is fairly accurate so I won't rehash the book's premise. This was kind of a hard one to rate. Keaton was a pretty well done character and I liked the author's humor. However, Vivian made me insane. I know she's young, 19 in the beginning and then 21 with Keaton, but cheese and rice I want to slap her upside her stupid head!

The entire series was free on Kindle when I grabbed it, so it costs me nothing to move on with this trilogy. However, I'm not sure how long I can hang with Vivian.
