Tired of watching the news, which is almost always bad? Frustrated at the deterioration of our society? Concerned about the world we will leave to our children? Think that the average person was a better person a generation or two ago?

Politics won't solve the problem. It's now a game which goes round in circles, accomplishing little. Financial mismanagement is everywhere. Look at Greece, Spain and Italy. But also look at France and the United States. We're managing our governments like spoiled children. And it doesn't matter whether it's liberals or conservatives who are in charge.

Both left and right are to blame because the problem is the system itself. “Why the World Sucks” outlines the issues and provides possible solutions. From a slightly eccentric point of view and with a little bit of humor. What more could you ask for?

I'm sorry, Mr. (Mrs?) Asher. I appreciate that this book was won in a goodreads.com contest, but I can find nothing good to say about it. 115 pages of poorly-researched, mostly-nonsense complaints followed by a brief 10 paragraphs of "solution" which I can sum up in a single sentence: Start a new country.

If you have such enmity with your siblings you should (wo)man up and deal with it instead of using a pseudonym to slander them anonymously. A true cynic is bitter because they can see the untapped potential around them. You sir (ma'am), are just a pessimist.

I was very intrigued just by the title, and this is a great read. I didn't feel lectured to, which is good, because I think this guy (Asher) is a little crazy, but in a fun way! I doubt very much he alone can cure the world, but he certainly gives the reader something to think about. He doesn't pick on any one side of the political scale, and he has something to say of almost everything.

B. Regan Asher had a few well thought out ideas that I enjoyed, along with a few that I thought were rather silly. This book should have been entitled "The World Sucks Because We Suck." Honor isn't as common today like it once was. We don't trust our leaders. We are the only ones that can change our reality. Its a call to do better, be better.
