Through out the story, the author, Chad unveils the reasons he fell into the dark world of addiction by flashing back to old drug and alcohol stories. However, the treatment center is where the story truly begins and where the hard work takes place. Will Chad stay at the treatment center and face the demons of his addiction or will he flee Montana and stay on the path of self-destructive behaviors?

Chad Hepler discusses how he was forced by his family into an unusual wilderness drug treatment plan. It explains his resistance and how he learned to connect his teenage troubles to his use of drugs while showing how he could change his view about how he used drugs. An emotional meeting with his family and a cross-country ski camping trip followed by a group home helps bring the message home.

Blargh. Rich, white people problems. Teenaged boy from a loving, Christian family does drugs and destroys property for fun. Family ships him to expensive Montana rehab facility. Writing doesn't feel genuine.
