Ever since I can remember, I have had a passion for writing, I suppose that's what happens when you are raised in a very creative family.
I wavered many times throughout the years on which career path I should take, but the one thing that always remained the same, was my need, and my want to write. But I didnt think anything of it, I would start and then give up. But as I grew, the motivational words of people that I loved and lost began to ring loud and clear in my head. So I gave it a shot...
and it was one of the best things to happen to me, and something I will never regret doing.

I'm a firm believer in starting each and every day with a motivational quote and a strong coffee. Look down the path you wish to travel and see the end result, believe in the end result, because it's possible. The only thing standing between you and your dreams, is yourself.

Loved this book.
Samantha Kennedy is 24, going from one night stand to another, u can tell from the get go she is broken, and she is trying cope with her dark past that has left her shattered

Hayden Wentworth wow, hot sexy lawyer confident, everything u would expect in a successful lawyer, he has a broken past of his own and is unwilling to attempt a relationship or love because of it.

How do 2 broken people get past their broken past to become one?
Can they heal themselves if they give in to the impulses???

Victoria this is a fantastic read and had me hooked, i couldn't

Put it down because i wanted to know what happened next big high five from me ,this book made me smile and laugh in some parts and ugly cry in others u should be so proud

I have the honour of being friends with the author of this book, however, it's terrifying reading her debut novel for fear of it not living up to expectations. I needn't have worried. Impulses is a beautifully and very descriptively written story. The roller coaster of emotions that the journey takes you on is tough at times and tissues will be required at several points. Hayden and Sam have to fight every step of the way, but their love is worth all the hard work. I would love to see a second book focussing on Jessie with updates on Hayden and Sam and their life!!

This is a novel that once you open the pages the Samantha is introduced to you in that she is going to her next attempt at a temp job one that is alot different than previous jobs. Being a receptionist at a law firm is something her roomie and best friend approves of also. Little does she know that she is about to embark of life changing path in more ways than one. I would also say once Hayden and her meet it is instant combustion on both their parts for what pulls at them and the attraction that will draw them to each other. As you are drawn into the novel you become more and more aware this is about two lost dark souls that once they have met and begin to be around each other both trying to fight the mounting desire that a spark of a light has begin and if they follow it they will burn away that darkness to heal from the past to live now to gain a future. This author weaves her magic showcasing each of these characters point of view as they take the journey seeing how indeed the power of love can do miraculous things. But beware dear reader it is also full of intense passion that is so aptly described to give the desired affects that is needed to experience the growing relationship of these two so that it is not so one dimensional. The obstacles that they face together and apart are so taylor made for them to enhance this story so that the author gives it the life and blood needed to make this more than just a ordinary read. There is also one very dramatic emotional event that takes place that will also wring out of you the reader a tear or two. So glad that the realism portraits of a working relationship in a life crisis has the detail of this novel has that captures the realistic sides of a relationship in it. Superb wind down to the ending that the celebration at the end leaves you with a satisfied sigh. So I have now read a excellent rendition of two people brought to life through the power of this author's written word. Received a copy for a honest review.

I received an ARC of the author for an honest review and this is her debut book and it is great

This book is one rollercoaster of a ride all in a good way

If dominant male’s and controlling yet tortured heroes make your heart race, then Impulses is for you

Super engaging and emotional! This book hooked me from the beginning and didn’t let me go! I felt and connected with the Samantha and was so into the story that I finished the book in record time
It wasn't too bad angst, overly dramatic or intense but there is a part that was heartbreaking so do have some tissues ready

I love this book is in both POV Hayden’s and Samantha

What can I say about Hayden Wentworth
Hayden holy hotness - panty sizzler. He is absolutely delectable. Sexy, rich, dominating, swoon worthy, arrogant, damaged, fanfuckingtastic. He's sex on a stick. That's what he is! He oozes manly yumminess! I think this sums it up pretty much

Quote

"I brush my tongue over my lips and force myself to swallow. The image of her undoing my shirt and peeling it off my body
With those nimble fingers causes all my breath to leave my body. I sigh inwardly as she places the pendant back to its rightful"

On to Samantha Kennedy.
She is sexual predator he he she is a great character strong fiery red head she seems confident or so she seems on the outside but she has a past she isn’t exactly proud of but I love her she did what she had to do then she meets Hayden and he turns her world upside down
When they are together its intense

"Of course she wouldn’t…why would someone like her be interested in you"?

Samantha and Hayden both have issues.
Can they both overcome them and events that nearly tear them apart are they both strong enough to survive and be together and live there HEA? Well you have to read it to find out but I will recommend this book to everyone I know

I was given an arc in exchange for an honest review.

Impulses begins with us meeting Samantha Kennedy, 24, meandering through life, going from one casual hookup to another, we can tell almost immediately that she is broken, she is harboring a dark past that has shattered her self worth and left her using promiscuity as a means keep her heart safe, pushing commitment and relationships away, never really letting anyone in, she uses sex for the instant gratification and confidence boost.

Hayden Wentworth is the epitome of classy, confident, sexy lawyer, he is Wentworth & Associates, a renowned practice, outwardly he is everything you would expect in a successful lawyer, but inwardly he is withdrawn, and full of self doubt. He is harboring secrets of his own, a past that left him broken and unwilling to attempt love or a relationship, he is also Samantha's new boss.

How do 2 broken people fight the attraction they share, how does giving in to those impulses give them the push to heal themselves, to have a chance at love again when they both believe they are safer without it?

The first 30% was slow building for me, Brock creates such a vividly descriptive world, by 50% I was hooked, I wanted, no I needed to know that two broken people had a chance, could find and forgive themselves and in turn find love and each other. Impulses is filled with enough angst to keep it real, enough heartbreak to keep you in their corner cheering them on, and is ultimately for me about that journey of forgiveness and second chances, that if you're lucky will lead you to your HEA. Congratulations V.L. Brock on a beautiful debut, I can't wait to see what you do next.

This was a long novel. That's not bad since I had plenty of time to get to know the main characters and their sordid pasts. I warn you, there's a bit of a rocky start but its worth it to hang in there and keep reading because this tale gets good . When the book did grab me, it held on like a pitbull biting into a squealing toddler. It just wouldn't let go!

I literally read this book at every opportunity that I had. I even played it in the car via kindle text-to-voice so that I could know the next twist. I didn't want to wait to find out about Hayden's tortured past or why Sam begins the story with such a skanky outlook on life! Sam is a very promiscuous woman who floats from one sexual escapade to the next. Hayden, on the other hand, is a man still wearing the scars of his emotional past.
Hayden clings so tightly to his past that I wanted to slap him multiple times.

At first thought when the story began to unfold, I wondered why the hell these two damaged people were together. They obviously aren't suited and are far too broken to be a healthy relationship. My opinions changed gradually and soon I began to root for them to make it.

The story was beautifully put together with an antagonist you'll love to hate. Wanted to wring that twit's neck for being so horrible a person, which shows that this author did a masterful job of inspiring feelings in her readers.

At first I was shaky about whether or not I would continue reading this. It was long and full of emotion. As I kept turning pages I found myself more and more in love. V.L. Brock doesn't disappoint! If you ever feel like a story lacks description and detail then you need to read Impulses.

Samantha and Hayden are both shattered souls that wind up together. Their journey to get there is long, sad, and wonderful. Sam is beginning what she thinks is another temp but when she meets her boss, she cannot ignore the feelings that stir.

Hayden feels it too but his past haunts him and he's not sure if he can relive that. One steamy time together and they are hooked to each other. Forever bound.

While the journey isn't easy it's worth the wait. Impulses shows you what can happen when you just dive in and see where the road takes you. I am very impressed and will definitely add more of Brock to my collection.

It took me a while to get into the story and connect with the characters, but when I did I was hooked. I love the fact that as well as being vividly descriptive, the book is narrated in a dual POV so we get the thoughts and feelings of both characters and they draw you in, making you feel you are part of their journey.

This was a lovely story of two broken people fighting their pasts and then acting on their impulses to be together when really it would have just been easier to keep their heads in their dark clouds.

You will hate the antagonist, cry, and hope for their HEA. For a debut novel it is a book and one I definitely recommend.

I fell in love with this book. I loved that I identified with both characters especially Hayden. Hayden is not your contemporary hero. He is broken, almost lifeless and he mirrors Samantha which makes you root for them constantly. There were moments where I had to stop reading because I was physically broken by this powerful love story.

The author bared so much raw emotions without being cliche. She focused on setting the scenes and placing her readers in the moments with powerful descriptions and heartfelt dialogue. I felt like I understood the author through this book.

A definite must read!

It took me a while to read the book as I dont have much spare time, but Wow! I couldn't put it down once I started a chapter. Samantha and Hayden = made for eachother. I love the way their story has been told. It was not biased towards either of them, but told the story from both sides of the relationship, because there is ALWAYS 2 sides to every story. very cleverly written. cant wait to read Brocks next novel "Dark Evoke part I" definitely a must read after the first emotional roller coaster ride that is Impulses.

Wow, have just finished this book and I loved it.
The characters are intriguing, flawed and human which makes you instantly relate to them. They both have troubled pasts but are attempting to rebuild their lives and when they get together you are seriously rooting for them.
This is a debut novel but is extremely well written with an absolute roller coaster of a story line.
I laughed, I cried (actually I sobbed my heart out more than once!) and yeah the sex scenes are pretty hot ;)
This book is a definite must read for me and I look forward to reading more from this fabulous author.

It took me a while to get into the story, mainly because I'm not used to read in English (I'm Dutch), and it contains certain words I didn't understand. But after a couple of chapters I fell in love with this couple, who are struggling with their past, and try to work out their relationship. It made me laugh at times, made me angry at some point and brought me to tears near the end....
You did a great job,Victoria...... Can't wait for your next book.

In the beginning this book held my interest for about 3 chapters. Then it became to wordy. Too much description or unnecessary words.
The dialogue is not something I believe would happen in real life nor can I imagine some of these conversations happening. My 2 stars is based on 45% completion as I was unable to continue. (Very very rare for me).
