Paul Jensen’s problems started the day he was born. The image of his mother, unlike his twin and older sister, he never quite fit the Jensen mold. A difficult baby, a problem child and a troublesome teen, Paul is the quintessential black sheep. His father’s abusive disapproval and rejection doesn't bring him down. It only serves to turn him into a willful, and incredibly determined young man. With his mothers’ Latin looks and the charm of a British Prince, he is a danger to women everywhere. Paul Jensen won’t take no for an answer and his rebellion is about to get really out of control.
This book has left me with conflicting feelings. Don't get me wrong, I liked it, I became invested in the characters, their journey and I struggled to put it down, but something just didn't quite sit right with me. The only thing I can think of it being is the fact that the central character is a school boy, yet much of what he says, his thought process and his actions are that of a man. (Plus I have 15 year old step-son sat upstairs and the thought of, nope scratch that not going there).
Set in London, the bulk of the story covers 18months/2years and focusses on Paul Jensen, one half of twins and born into a wealthy family. His Dad is what can only be described as a tyrant. He treats Paul abysmally and sometimes brutally simply because looks-wise, he favours his Mum's Latino side of the family, whereas his brother Matt and older sister Tessa are blonde and blue-eyed. My heart ached for what he put up with, yet it shapes him into the young man he is and whilst mature, he is also immature. Embarking on an affair with his teacher at 15, lives are changed and relationships damaged.
It does stir your emotions and it isn't short on steamy content (although I looked at it differently because of his young age). I am looking forward to the next book; ending on a bit of a cliffhanger it has left me desperate to know more. I think my feelings of unease will change as Paul ages; I like him and look forward to seeing how he handles the events that will undoubtably change and quite possibly shape his life.
You know sometimes when you are at a loss for words......? This is just what this book did to me! Thought provoking and addictive springs to mind, I could not put it down because I just had to know what happens. It centers around the Jensen Family, Monica,Michael, Their daughter Tessa and twin boys Matt and Paul. We go back in time and get to know Michael and Monica's past.
Thee story mainly focuses on Paul, his family relationships and how he deals with them, And the things he gets up to. Truthfully I found this book so easy to read and found myself absorbed in the characters lives as though I was watching them through a window from outside. The relationship between Paul and his Father was heart breaking for me for a little boy to be rejected by his father is hard for me to read. I am a mother myself and I found myself angered by Michael's attitude towards his son and abhorrent way he was ostracised by him was awful and upsetting, the conflict always trying to be settled by Paul's mother Monica who I felt sorry for. We go on through the story and meet other family members who adore the boy and that made me feel so much better to know that there were people in his corner. Michelle Day has a way of telling a story so that you feel as though you are there. It goes on to tell us all about Paul and has you rooting for him to find a HAE. Yes the book is shocking due to the nature of his relationships but it is very thought provoking and even though there is the major fact of being underage which by the way is so so so wrong you can see how Carmen fell for this charismatic gorgeous looking young lad who seemed to just pull the rug out from under her and found ways to get around her and in to heart at every turn. I totally loved Paul and his elder sisters best friends relationship, I laughed out loud at them trying to out do and avoid each other but they were like magnets getting pulled together. I'm not going to write anymore on the story line because I do not want to spoil this for anyone. I am waiting with excitement for the next part of Paul's story! We always root for the underdog and his strength, determination and stubborn wins throughout! One of those books that gets your emotions running high. I need to read the next part as The last page had me livid ha ha and I so so need to see this boy get a happy ever after!

LOVE IT! You cant help fall in love with Paul & his cheeky brother Matt. Paul is a very strong will boy who grows up not the easy but is very smart & knows what he wants & goes for it FULL ON.
You will feel for Paul as you read his story of becoming a young man & the troubles he has.
Paul is one of twins, both fabulously goodlooking in their own way and successful with the ladies. He has issues with his father and maintains two lovers, one of whom become pregnant, which is where the story ends. He had a hard time at school, but he always seems to get over his problems with the help of his supportive mother and brother. The sticking point for me, is that he is fifteen years old, but that's because I have a son that age.
Once I was able to forget that bit, I could enjoy the story, of the Perils of Paul and the various establishments he comes up against, including his father. The sex is copious and sexy, and the characters believable and, crucially, likeable. At the end, I wanted to know more, and will probably read the next book when it comes. The way the story was developed was pacy and interesting, although it was probably about 20 pages too long and could have been cut down without any loss of plot. And it seemed to morph from erotica to family drama halfway through, which is when I really began to enjoy it. The only sex scene that really sounded a bum note was with the use of porno speak (I'm cumming!) but thankfully, it did not appear for the rest of the book. And bonus points too for not shoe-horning sex into every available opportunity, but keeping it between the characters that mattered.
One more thing. I'd love to know more about the dynamics between Monica and Michael, Paul's parents, and how Michael can justify being so hard with Paul. I hope some of this is coming in the next book. Why should the teenagers have all the pleasure?
The book starts out with Paul and his family's life as they grew up. I felt like this story is not your usual romance of one woman and one man, it's more about Paul's struggle as a he grows up with a father that hates him and dealing with puberty. As the book mentioned he's very well, ahem, advanced for his age (he was having sex at the age of 14) and has two main relationships with older women. One is with his older sister's best friend and the other more taboo, his teacher who he pursued until she gave in. I hope it all works out with Carmen in the second book but from what I'm reading, it seems like he's torn between her and his first love. It ends with a cliffhanger where his mother gets an urgent phone call and tries to wake him up.. and I think it's Carmen and her being at the hospital. I wanted him to get his HEA and to find out which girl he ends up with, glad to have book 2 already.

I won this ebook and after reading the synopsis, I couldn't wait to read it. Paul is a twin and looks nothing like Matt. While Matt looks like his father, Paul looks like his mother. His father was not happy about that and he was always harder on Paul because of it. Paul used his good looks to get what he wanted. When he pursued his teacher, he wouldn't take no for answer. When things build between Paul and Carmen, the teacher, he will learn that he has to grow up quickly. And stay out of his father's sights. This is a first for me from Michelle Day and I can't wait to read Father & Son, book 2.
Merged review:
Great Read!

I got this book from Amazon. The books is about the youngest boy named Paul who grows up far before his time in my opinion. With a jerk for a father and a mother who loves to coddle him. He is smart and attractive.. Into the book you can see how he is determined to get what he wants no matter rights or wrongs and has an affair with his teacher leading up to her being pregnant and he was only 15!!
While reading this book I had to keep remembering that the main character is but a boy... I thought the story was leading some where and then it ended!!! I was like what the HECK!! to be polite.
Some may few this book as wrong because of the affair and because he starts out his sexual exploits at the young age of 14 but in honesty do we not see this often. Though I think that Carmen should be shot in her damn head and defiantly does not deserve to raise the child!!
I wish I had gone to school with Paul Jensen. Not that he would have been into a tiny little mouse of a girl like me, but to watch him from afar would have been nice.
I had conflicting thoughts about this book. I wasn't that bothered about the boy/teacher/older woman thing because there is no way at all you could look at it that Carmen was the seducer. No way at all. Michelle Day made that abundantly clear - Paul was the driving force.
My conflict was the way it was written. It felt like an introduction but it was a full novel. Almost like it skated over detail to give just an outline. I suppose my downfall was befriending the character Paul Jensen on Twitter. He does exist believe me. And. He. Is. All. Man. I thought I was getting man but I got boy.
The knowledge that I got boy leads me to believe I can look forward to finding the man. Come out, come out wherever you are. Oh yeah - there you are on Amazon.
This is a full length novel. I was gifted a copy for an honest review.
Paul is a twin. He dearly loves his brother Matt. Paul's father Michael is not pleased when the twins are born because Paul has his mother's dark features not the blonde blue-eyed all American look that his father prefers and his twin brother inherited. The bad relationship between father and son progresses badly with horrible results.
Paul finds a way to survive with no help from his father. I love Paul's character very much and I like Matt very much. Luckily Paul has wonderful grandparents to help along the way.
Paul makes a bad relationship decision in his early teens that changes his life forever.
Paul is determined and focused. There is a lot of detail and a large span of years covered. I enjoyed the story very much. There were a few times it dragged a bit, but I still loved it.
For me this book should get 4.5 stars. I LOVED this book.
Paul won me over immediately with his personality and ambition. He is in a category all his own. What he is going through is a lot for someone at any age, but more so for him since he's only 16-years old. The relationship he has with his siblings, especially his twin brother Matt is one of my favorite relationships that he has. The relationship he has with his mother, uncle, and grandparents is so sweet and amazing compared to his lack of relationship he has with his father.
dnf. ive had this book on my tbr forever and finally gave in and gave it a try not im wishing i didnt. as much as i wanted to love this story after hearing nothing but great reviews im now left wondering if i was reading the same book as them. the writing is told as a 3rd eye something i hate in a book. you cant connect with the characters. i hated the characters they just didnt jump off the pages at me. the story just bugged me and could get into it at all.
I LOVED that book. The characters, the story that is not predictable, absolutely everything about the book (yes, that includes the cover, obviously). I certainly can't wait for the second book.
Huge cliffhanger!! Nothing like a hot Latin twin to get the blood boiling though. Not to bad for a quick read but I hate being left hanging. And Paul's family.. All I can say is what a huge mess!
This is one of those books that is hard for me to rate. While I loved the characters mainly Paul the storyline and the young age (15) of Paul is a little hard. However you soon realize that Paul is not a typical 15 year old. I actually felt bad for him. He had to deal with a lot of adult situations and things from a young age. He starts and runs a ver productive business while still attending school and working for his father. Plus dealing with the drama of getting his teacher pregnant. Overall the story is great while heartbreaking at times. This was a reread for me and I loved the other series more I think because he is older in those.
