Novels of French writer Jules Gabriel Verne, considered the founder of modern science fiction, include Journey to the Center of the Earth (1864) and Around the World in Eighty Days (1873).

This author who pioneered the genre. People best know him for Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea (1870).

Verne wrote about space, air, and underwater travel before people invented navigable aircraft and practical submarines and devised any means of spacecraft. He ranks behind Dame Agatha Mary Clarissa Christie as the second most translated author of all time. People made his prominent films. People often refer to Verne alongside Herbert George Wells as the "father of science fiction."

Axel Lidenbrock, povestitorul adolescent al poveștii, locuiește la Hamburg (Germania), alături de unchiul său, profesorul Otto Lidenbrock, un profesor impetuos și unic de geologie. Povestea, stabilită în mai 1863, se deschide în timp ce acesta din urmă se grăbește spre casă pentru a-i arăta lui Axel cea mai recentă achiziție: un manuscris runic al renumitului istoric islandez Snorri Sturluson. Găsesc ascunse în paginile sale o notă separată care, atunci când este tradusă în latină și citită înapoi, pare a fi înregistrarea alchimistului islandez Arne Saknussemm despre un pasaj care duce la centrul Pământului într-un crater din Snaefell, un vulcan latent din Islanda. Cu toate acestea, craterul care conține pasajul este dezvăluit doar de umbre la prânz în ultimele zile ale lunii iunie, la doar o lună distanță. This is the 3rd novel i read by Jules Verne(to the person who recommended me his works- thank you very much). i’ve noticed he always includes science in his novels and that guarantees you’ll always learn something new. i put 4 stars because i felt the story was too long for such a quick ending.
Otherwise, it was nice to read(would have finished it in 1week, but been postponing it for other activities).
