I can't recommend this one. Takes forever for anything to happen for most of the book, there are like five events in the whole book. Author played it too safe and probably should have had them kiss instead of end on them becoming new friends. I can usually understand, or have heard, a lot of dated references, but these ones were too out there. I'm guessing it's the Albertan influence of the author, or Vietnamese. I've never heard of a lot of them and feel more like inside jokes. I suppose the moral of standing up for yourself is a good one though. And when to act on a problem.
This about a kid who is always bullied by this person who he thinks is a boy. Then one day he tries to run away from the bully and he saw where she lived and her crying. In the end the two became friends. I would use this in a classroom to show how if there is a bully there could be something else wrong with them at their house. I would use this to help them understand why people do what they do.
