Rica Marin is a freelance spy taking on assignments in a post-apocalyptic, post-United States, Balkanized assortment of small and warring countries. In this book, she goes to work for the Chief of Sierra, a country that includes Lake Tahoe, spying on the powerful Coleman clan, owners of Blackjack casino. It just happens that Rica is also a torch singer, and gets a job in the casino's lounge. She soon finds herself dealing with an assortment of villains and heroes, and on top of everything, falling in love with one of the Colemans. This is the first in the Blackjack trilogy and although the hardcover and the audiobook show the author as Lee Singer, the soon-to-be-released e-book will show her as Shelley Singer. The title will also be slightly changed to Torch Song, book one in the Blackjack Trilogy. The e-book publisher is BooksBNimble.

Aka Lee Singer.

Shelley Singer is the author of a dozen published novels and many short stories. One of her mysteries was nominated for the prestigious Shamus Award of the Private Eye Writers of America. She has written mysteries, science fiction, and mainstream fiction. Singer began her working life as a reporter with UPI in Chicago. During a checkered and mercifully brief journalism career, she met such luminaries as Nikita Khrushchev, Jimmy Hoffa, Xavier Cugat, Mrs. Billy Graham, Martin Luther King, Jr., and a condemned killer on death row. She never met Joseph Stalin. She teaches fiction writing classes and does manuscript consulting.
