Speedy Sunday read. Smith spends way too much time talking about Google+ & not enough about Instagram; maybe he should revisit this book every 5 years to keep it relevant? Wished he spoke more about SEOs & analytics, though.
Defiantly dated but to get the absolute basics it’s decent. Learnt a couple of new terms and it broke things down super easily. Like the end of day recaps.
I love these 7 day and Dummies books for a quick refresher of what's most important about the complicated things that we run in our lives. Nick Smith has a fun style that will benefit the newbie to Social Media Mktg and the veteran.
I find the concept of social media fascinating ... I have accounts on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn and I blog. While the Internet came along long after I was born, I have obviously embraced it and it's a big part of my life along with social media.
This book is directed to the newbie, which the author states right away. It is divided into bite-sized chunks of information spread over seven days:
Sunday - Introduction to social media Monday - Successful case studies Tuesday - Getting started with social media marketing Wednesday - Phase one of your social media takeover Thursday - Phase two of your social media takeover Friday - Phase three: quality content creation Saturday - Managing, metrics and scaling up
Each chapter has a summary of the previous chapter(s), information along with helpful tips and real examples, and finishes up with multiple choice quizzes. I liked the writing style ... it's written in a conversational manner.
I found it a bit ironic, though, that in the blogging sections, the author recommends that you update your blog two and three times a week yet he has only blogged twice in 2013 (in January and February) ,,, shouldn't he be practicing what he preaches?!
A quick read with essential information needed to excel in social media marketing. Definitely worth re-reading to review on the marketing plan on social media.
