This book is a quick introduction for children to the six leaders of World War II: Adolf Hitler, Winston Churchill, Josef Stalin, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Hirohito, and Dwight D. Eisenhower. Each leader gets a chapter that explores the trajectory of their lives from childhood to adulthood and obviously the war itself. As a historian who has spent a lot of her time researching WWII, I thought this was an excellent mini introduction to the war and its leaders. You can also easily read this out of order if you have specific interests such as just focusing on the presidents. There is a little glossary in the back for comprehension, which would be helpful for any student or teacher. I also appreciated the little selection of speeches and essays by the leaders so that children can see what was actually said to the public. I gave this three out of five stars and would recommend it primarily for children or teachers but it is an easy introduction for all.
I borrowed this book from my nephew, who is in 8th grade. It's a quick guide to some important personalities of the world war 2. The book is interesting with pictures and a nice font. Never knew about Japanese emperor's role in the war, now the events of the war make more sense, when we look from the perspective of these 6 people.
This book is about 6 war leaders and they all wanted to win the war, they all really put up a fight, Hitler was the leader (chancellor) of Germany of and he broke the treaty of Versailles, expanding his army over 10 000 troops and attacked every Jewish person he could find and/or put them in a place people called “The Holocaust”. But Hitler wanted a good life but he could never get what he wanted, he want to become an artist but no university would accept him. He was invited into a Nazi party and basically from there he was a monster. All the other leaders like: Winston Churchill, Josef Stalin, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Hirohito, and Dwight D. Eisenhower were all understandable, they all helped each other, though Hitler seen as a monster he made alliances with some of these people like: Josef Stalin and others, but he made a mistake and betrayed everyone one that he teamed with. By 1945 the war ended and Hitler had killed himself, and the N.A.T.O. treaty was created. The war was officially over.
This book was amazing to read, it was most interesting to read about Dwight D. Eisenhower because his life was very interesting, he never went to war itself but he planned attacks for the U.S and most were successful. Adolf Hitler was interesting too; as I read about him it answered a lot of my questions I had been asking myself. Hitler made a lot of decisions that scared Germany; a lot of people that were German were still scared of Hitler just as much as everyone else was. But in the end they overcame Hitler’s wraith.
All-though this book was perfect I wish it was longer because I would like to know more about the people in this book. But overall I would recommend this book to others.
This is a book of six bios of people from World War II. This book is full of interesting facts! Did you know Hitler was liked by students and teachers in schools? Did you know Dwight Eisenhower's name at birth was actually David? Did you know Hirohito died after months of digestive problems? This book tells each story from birth to death and you will see how each of them made an impact on one another. This is a great book for anyone interested in World War II, heroes, presidents around World War II, and the Holocaust.
This book was also very in depth about World War II. Included bios about hurler, Churchill, Stalin, Roosevelt, Hirohito, and Eisenhower. The book explained about there childhood, where they went to school, there families, and what they accomplished over there lives. Very interesting book but would be hard for children to understand fully. It would be a good book to use for projects maybe for third or fourth graders.
World War two by Aaron Rosenberg is about six people that made a impact on World War two. They are Adolf Hitler, Winston Churchill, Josef Stalin, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Hirohito, and Dwight D. Eisenhower. It tells about each person childhood and what they did in World War two. Learn about World War two. I recommend this book two people who like history.
This was a good book in my opinion because I taught me about the leaders who they were and how they got there. I know some stuff about these people and who they were but this book told me what they did after the war also not just what they did during the war. That's why I give this book a 4-star rating.
This provides a lot of good information about key players of World Ware II. I enjoyed reading it and would recommend it for any elementary-aged student doing research on WWII. The author did a wonderful job describing how each of the characters were tied to each other.
Brief bios which cover pre-WWII through post-WWII on 6 key figures. The time span helps connect & explain events which led to WWII. Colorful & includes images w/ captions.
