What do you do if you find a bra in your husband's luggage that isn't yours? Or even his! This is the dilemma facing mother-of-three Sophie Reed, shortly after she moves to France with her family to start a new life. As they are unpacking her husband admits to having an affair with a French woman called Cecile. Sophie thinks about throwing him out with the bra. But then what? Should she move back to England? Her inner French woman tells her otherwise.

I love a good chick lit read but this one was beyond ridiculous. Family move to France, cheating husband leaves within days then abandoned wife manages to bring up 3 children, learns how to run a vineyard overnight and make a best selling wine and is lucky enough to find herself attracting the attentions of 2 men, a handsome French aristocrat neighbour and an old flame who is now a gorgeous film star in America. She achieves great success in this new life she is thrown into, despite not even being fluent in French. Oh, and she also discovers her 'inner French woman'! Wouldn't recommend this book unless you really haven't got anything better to read.

Cliche. Boring. Predictable. Think "Under A Tuscan Sun" meets "Eat, Pray, Love." Rinse, cringe, and repeat.

Les ingrédients de la bonne chick-lits sont bien réuni, mais malheureusement toutes ces idées préconçues sur les français (et surtout les françaises!), sorties d'on ne sait où, gâche un peu le tout (pour une française du moins!).
idée préconçue n°1 : toutes les françaises mariées trompent leur mari (et réciproquement). C'est un sport national d'après l'auteur, et est considéré tout à fait normal. En fait, c'est l'inverse qui est anormale (un(e) français(e) fidèle? Bah... n'importe quoi)
idée préconçue n°2 : les françaises sont toutes hyper mince, mais bien sûr elles ne font pas de régime (trop contraignant), elles maigrissent uniquement à l'aide de crème.
etc...
Et un autre élément qui vient gâcher le livre : l'héroïne, Sophie, est par moment vraiment stupide! Mais seulement par moment.... Il y a des passages où j'ai vraiment eu envi de la secouer un peu, pour qu'elle ouvre enfin les yeux. Enfin, personne ne peut se laisser berner à ce point!!!!
Mais malgré tout ça, j'ai apprécié l'histoire : j'ai aimé suivre l'histoire de cette jeune anglaise, qui découvre que son mari la trompe alors qu'ils viennent d'emménager en France pour une nouvelle vie avec leur 3 enfants, et qui décide de prendre sa vie (et son vignoble) en main.
Donc en bref : une histoire sympa, mais qui mériterai qu'on lui retire ces préjugés stupides sur la France.

if you like books in which people get divorced with barely a thought, have affairs without a twinge of guilt,run vineyards/businesses abroad with no money and no knowledge, while having the choice of two boyfriends, one of whom happens to be a film-star..this is for you..

Sophie is married to Nick they have 3 children and have just moved to a
new life in France. Nick commutes back and forward to England for work.
Sophie finds a bra in Nick’s bag, and it doesn’t belong to Sophie.

now? She has to be brave for the children they need her. Does Sophie
make a go of things in France or run back to London?
Johnny Fray (Sophie’s ex colleague/friend) is back on the scene but are
they just friends?
I loved this book, it was funny, and the character Johnny reminded me
of the character Hugh Grant played in the Bridget Jones films. I

I just loved this book! Sophie moves to France with her husband and children only to find out that he has been having an affair with a french lady back in England. Sophie decides to stay in France and run their vineyard single handedly. Each of the 27 chapters are headed up with one of the rules to 'The French Art of Having Affairs', and I laughed along whilst Sophie rediscovered herself and men!! This book is very down to earth and describes the reasons why her husband may have looked elsewhere, some of it seems all too familiar, as it would to many mothers. Will definitely try another book written by this author.

satu lagi buku mengenai pasangan yang berselingkuh. mana si suami merasa ga bersalah karena ia merasa istrinya terlalu sibuk mengurus anak-anak dan keluarga sehingga tidak ada energi untuk melayani suaminya.
dan juga bilang kalo perselingkuhannya itu ga ada artinya, padahal sudah berhubungan dengan perempuan lain tersebut selama 5 bulan.
haaahhhhh.... bikin marah aja!

I started reading this book just to change from my usual thrillers. I found it very very nice, relaxing, fun, it made me dream of Provence, of a life in the nature... It's really a book to distract you from daily worries....

Despite my average rating I actually really enjoyed this book. I just thought it was rather far fetched. An enjoyable and easy read that took me many a time to the beach this summer.
