This is a very informative book for those folks looking to move from the gas station cigars to the real handmade products. It is all layed out in a very clear and concise format. I look forward to using the info provided as I dabble into the world of the "real" smokes. A reccomend for those that even may have some basic knowledge as well.
It is a good book. Good material. It explains several aspects of cigars, involving how to buy a good cigar, how identify a good cigar, how to rate it, how it is produced, rolled, aged, cured, the types of leafs, shapes, etc, etc and etc... I recommend it.

This was my first dive into the The Complete Idiots guide to anything. The book was extremely informative and tells anything and everything about Cigars. It discusses the growth of the plant, areas and what type of smokes they produce. It delves into how to store them and why they're stored that way, ettiquete and ammenities. If you want to know something about cigars it's in the book. They even hit up a chapter on pipe smoking and how it's similarities and differences from smoking a stogie. If you have a love for a fine cigar or if your just learning a little more about 'em this book covers all the bases.
As a newcomer to cigar smoking at the age of 45, I was looking for a source of information and how-to for my new hobby. This book is that and so much more. I learned more than I thought I would have and enjoyed the book like a good cigar, from the beginning all the way to the nub.
I bought this to learn the basics about cigars--not to become an expert by any means. It a general 'Idiots Guide' in that it is a quick read, which is easy to learn from. I'll keep this on my self for brushing up before lighting up.
So far a decent read. It reads easy, which I like cause most cigar books put me to sleep, but the content could be condensed. But I am enjoying the read. So far, I would give it 3.5 stars.
