A new and vibrant love had risen out of the ashes of this family’s pain.I Do Again reveals the hidden secrets that slowly destroyed this marriage and the spiritual awakening that opened the way to healing. A riveting account of the power of prayer and redemption, this remarkable book offers renewed hope for even the most troubled marriages–and reveals why the rewards of restoration are well worth the wait.
Such a powerful story. Whether you're single, married, separated/divorced, there is such a beautiful message in this book!! I literally couldn't put this down, I finished it all in one morning... and definitely shed a few tears throughout. It's honestly a quick and easy read but such an important lesson. I Do Again is written from the point of view of both Cheryl and Jeff Scruggs- they walk the reader through their incredible story, giving each partner's view of events in turn. I thought that was really important because it gives us the whole picture from both husband and wife- which makes it a great tool that speaks clearly to both men and women. After reading this book, you can't tell me that God doesn't have a plan for our lives. His amazing love and glory shines through the Scruggs' story in a way that is undeniable- He proves time and again that He is the only one who could be responsible for reconciliation, because He defies our limited human knowledge and logic. I believe God made marriage to be a sacred and holy thing- which makes it one of the enemy's favorite areas of our lives to attack. The devil continuously tries to break down marriages, in order to refute God's holy design. But I am so thankful God is bigger and way more powerful than the enemy, and if we draw near to Him, He will protect us from the devil's attacks. That is one of the lessons I took from this book!
Thank you for coming to my TED talk :) now go read it for yourself!!
Really appreciate the candor with which the authors share their journey and how our incredible God can indeed to miracles in marriages to being about hope, healing, and restoration.
I believe that there is great power in prayer and I believe that a marriage can be restored, even when one person is praying/hoping for it and the other is not. I find it disheartening that so many give up so easily and quickly and that the Church has not stepped up to advocate for marriage.
This is a beautiful story of love, marriage, redemption, repentance, and obedience to God. It tells the true struggle that this couple faced and the ups and downs amazed me. Because the story is told from the viewpoint of both spouses, you can really feel the pain in both their hearts as well as the pride, confusion, and desire for something more--something holy.
I loved the book due to its rawness. I know the pain that is spoken of in this book. I know it far too well. I feel better after having read it and appreciated knowing how others hear God and interpret His voice. I wish I could walk away from this and see the signs that God is at work in my very broken marriage as well but I have not seen such things. However, I found myself overjoyed at her restoration and hoping for a miracle of my own.
I highly recommend this book for anyone entering into marriage, in marriage, divorced, separated. Would be a fantastic read for churches/church groups. A topic that MUST be discussed!
What I loved about this book is that I can really relate to Cheryl in so many ways and also Jeff in so many ways as well. Their story brought a lot of clarity towards the will that God has for my life and has made things very clear for me. Honestly it encourages me to just keep pressing forward because I know that God will restore what the locust had taken and restore my family for his glory!
The tragedy is similar to mine. I enjoyed reading your book with great interest and with great hope the Lord will restore my marriage. God being who He is through His grace in Christ Jesus will honour the promise He gave me Joshua 1:9. excellent read! Thank you for sharing your life with us.
Started off as not partisan but obviously this author does not like Robert Kennedy. Quickly turned towards out every flaw of RFK without understanding that while he was a Kennedy he was human. And believe it or not, humans are not perfect and make mistakes.
This book was an encouragement as I walk through a separation in my marriage. I loved their honesty. Good read for anyone struggling in their marriage.
