The female deity represents a powerful aspect of the psychology of women's self-determination. Originally published as The Women's Spirituality Book, this guide describes the beliefs and practices of the goddess craft as it relates to the daily lives of women. Designed to be useful to both men and women, it emphasizes achieving power and control through healing, visualization, Tarot, and the women's I Ching. Diane Stein teaches the specific techniques - the craft - of this worship, encouraging women to become leaders in the transformation of the world into a safer, gentler place for all. Discussing herstory, ritual, group structure, and individual work, the author shows how to draw on the power of the goddess to address all areas of life.
Diane Stein (1948 - Present) is a natural healer and teacher of women's spirituality for thirty years. I picked this book up at a huge discount. I believe it was only $1, and I have always enjoyed Diane Stein's voice, so I was thrilled with this bargain. Stein was my first introduction to Goddess Worship, and a very good one at that. Since that introduction, I have read most anything by her that I comes across my path.
This book is another introductory book, and definitely worth the read for someone new to the Craft. At this point in my life, it was more of a reminder. A reminder that I enjoyed reading.
It’s a general feminist Wicca book, but I don’t recommend it for beginners. A lot of the information is from sources that have since the publication have been called into question. The author herself seems to draw ancient myth from her imagination, not from any other source.
I read this book in 1987, when I turned 18, and it helped me in more ways than I could possibly express! Through this book, I found empowerment and my true spiritual path. I recommend it highly!
This is a great book for basic information concerning the divine goddess. The references given are a bit out dated but I liked the idea of mining for my own crystals. I had no idea that I could do that. Come to find out, there are many places in Georgia where I can take advantage of this opportunity.
Older book, basic information for women to get together and grow within paganism. Interesting chapter in reference to the I-ching having originally been feminine and positive, but then taken over and changed by men.
