Rate this book

The future of two worlds lies in the hands of four teenagers.

Thomas Hunter, supreme commander of the Forest Guard, has seen a great evil decimate much of his beautiful world. With a dwindling army and an epic threat, Thomas is forced to supplement his army with new—young—recruits. From thousands, four will be chosen to lead a special mission.

But these four have been assigned a higher task that even Thomas doesn’t know about. They must find the seven lost Books of History before the Dark One does. These seven books have immense power over the past, present, and future, controlling not only the destiny of their world . . . but that of ours as well.

I rarely give up on reading a book but this book was one of those rare occasions. I feel as if I have it a fighting chance (read the entire first book) however I just couldn't get into it. So I had to move on.

Set in the same world as the Circle Series, but with new main characters. Loved them all! You will enjoy them if you like to get lost in another world through books.

"The Lost Books" is an engaging and heart-pounding detail of four teens called to a purpose beyond any of them alone.
For the story--the pot and elements themselves--I give a 4/5. The individual ratings are documented in their respected novels (I know I did "Infidel", "Renegade", and "Chaos"-- I thought I did "Chosen", too, but I can't find it anywhere. "Chosen"'s a 5/5 anyway). For the set-up and format, I appreciated how each story was preserved and not fused into one single novel, but I would have liked for the "Beginnings" sections to have been eliminated. If you're reading the whole series, then you know what happened beforehand. The format, then, gets a 3/5.
As I've said in the individual ratings, the characters were real and believable, the mission is absurd but demanding their every thought, their every breath, and their every step, and the books are addicting. Have fun trying to put this down. Reading 1045 pages in less than a week can't be healthy...but it's probable. Just try and make yourself stop. That's a dare.

Wow! This was a good book (all 4 of them). I really enjoyed it. The last books was a bit dry for me, and I felt that it could have come out a bit better then it did, but I enjoyed it nevertheless.

I think that Ted Dekker is my new favorite author. I can't wait to read some of his other works. I am very glad that my friend, Andrea, gave me this book, thinking that I might really enjoy it. I DID!!
