After leaving her cheating husband, Ellie is looking for a fresh start for her and her daughter. But after moving into one of her father’s apartments to get back on her feet, her plan goes out the window after a run in with her neighbor, hockey heartthrob Trevor Adams. She was supposed to be starting fresh after leaving her ex, taking time to figure out what her heart wanted and what would be best for her daughter. After becoming a mom at the age of twenty-one, and now a single mom at the age of twenty-six, Ellie is ready to stand on her own two feet and figure out life without a man. Although her heart remains intact, her trust is irreparable. Trevor is everything Ellie thinks she shouldn’t want. He’s hot, muscular, and has Playboy written all over his face. So obviously he’s just another man she can’t trust, right? But when he’s attentive with her daughter, helpful when she needs anything, and just so kind all the time, it’s hard not to wonder what if. Slowly their casual hellos and friendly smiles turn into talking for hours and stolen kisses. But can they stay just friends? Or will Trevor crash through the walls Ellie has worked hard to hold up.
Well how swoony is Trevor?! Loved him! I also really liked Ellie and Addy, and that we got to see more of Rex, Sawyer and Rory too.
Ellie is a single mom to Addy and moves next door to hockey star Trevor. She’s in the middle of a messy divorce and custody battle, and her ex is awful. Trevor is feeling a little lost himself as he gets older and wonders how much longer he can continue playing professionally. These two were really perfect for each other, both complimented each other’s personalities and in a way kind of saved each other. I’d have loved to have seen a bit more of Trevor getting to know Addy early on. They met a couple of times that we saw and then seemed very close quite quickly- I’d have liked to see a bit more of that relationship building. The epilogue was really lovely.
Overall I did enjoy this book hence the 4 stars, but I struggled a bit with some of the inconsistencies. For example- Ellie and Addy are talking about making pancakes, then they’re eating the waffles they made, then talking about the pancakes they made. Was it pancakes or waffles?! Ellie and Trevor spend the night together and she says it’s not how she expected her birthday to end. But it’s not her birthday yet- that happens a few chapters later. Trevor realises he’s in love with Ellie- but he’s already told her once before so how can he only just realise? There were a couple of times where it said it was the morning but a character said it was the night- just a bit confusing and distracting from the story. I also felt the conflict wasn’t that believable and was there purely for the sake of a conflict, rather than adding anything to the story.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I am so obsessed with this series and was so excited to read Trevor’s story. And Lexi did not disappoint! This is my second time reading and I was still hooked from the beginning and could not put down!
This story follows Trevor and Ellie. Ellie is in the middle of a divorce and has a 5 year old daughter. During her move into her new building she has a hilarious but embarrassing first encounter with Trevor. Trevor ends up being her neighbor and they develop a friendship that ends up turning into more…
Ah! I just loved these two so much!!! Their chemistry, passion and banter was so intense! 🥵 I could not get enough of them…and excuse me who knew painting could be so hot! Ellie is so sassy and loved how she stood up for herself to her douchey ex. Was so glad to see her escape from him and his effect on her and her daughter. Trevor!!!! 🫠🫠🫠If you have read Power Play and think Daddy Rex was hot…Trevor takes it to the next level! He is so frickin’ swoony. I just loved how supportive he was with Ellie…and his interactions with her daughter. My heart!!!
This is the third book in the series but can be read as a standalone. This series is one of my favorites and I cannot wait to continue. Lexi does such a great job of bringing the spicy spice, as well as, a great story line. Thank you Lexi for the eARC.
Overall: 5 Spice: 3.5
Tropes: -Hockey Romance -Single Mom -Close Proximity -Friends to Lovers -Age Gap
This was such a fun story. Ellie has finally left her jerkwad cheater of a husband and is starting her new life with her adorable daughter, Addy. That new life happens to begin in an apartment right next door to Trevor Adams, local hockey star.
Trevor is so yummy and so protective over Ellie and Addy, especially once he also gets a taste of her ex. And what starts as a neighborly friendship soon evolves into more as Ellie realizes that not every man is going to disappoint her. I love how supportive they were and how they each found their purpose and strength through the other. Trevor was there to back Ellie up if she needed it, but he let her lead as she took back control of her life.
The banter and sass definitely had me laughing out loud a time or two, and the mouth on that man… There were a couple of inconsistencies, but overall, this has definitely been my favorite book of the series so far!

Each book gets better and better! I have fell for each man more with each book!
Trevor has my heart! I have laughed so many times in this book! I love Addy, she is the best wingwoman ever!!! Ellie is a spit fire!
Trevor is an NHL player who is trying to figure out his next steps in his life when he finds out he has a new neighbor (the way they meet- I died laughing). He is also looking for a woman who likes the same kinks as he does.
Ellie is a single mom, in the middle of a divorce with a controlling man- who is making it hard to let her go. She loves to paint but is in a rut with that and trying to make the transition to her new apartment:
Ellie doesn’t trust that men like to help women but Trevor shows her that isn’t always the case.
i tried SO hard to love it but i couldn’t. it wasn’t bad at all; it just wasn’t my book. it was full of some of my favorite tropes which i enjoyed!!
something i really loved was how much ellie grew throughout the book. she became so strong & was able to fight for herself and her family. i also loved trevor’s parents. they were the cutest <33
i do think a lot of people will really enjoy this!!
I love this book🙃 I was hooked from the very beginning!
This is about Trevor and Ellie.
Trevor is a hockey player that is thinking about retiring… He is also looking for a relationship but he likes certain things in the bedroom and is having trouble finding someone that won’t run for the hills after finding out…
Ellie is an artist that has a 5 year old daughter and is in the middle of a divorce from her POS soon to be ex husband…
Trevor and Ellie’s first encounter is hilarious and from that moment he can’t stop thinking about her…
Come to find out they are neighbors🙃
I absolutely can’t stand her soon to be ex husband…
Things get interesting and spicy🥵
Feelings start to grow but they have a great friendship and Ellie doesn’t want to mess that up.
She has never had anyone stand up for her or take care of her and Trevor starts doing all these things and she doesn’t know how to take it…
He wants to be that person for her if she will let him…
I love how hard he falls for her. I love her daughter and Trevor’s connection. I love that he goes into dad mode without even trying. I love how he sticks up for Ellie. I love all the surprises he does for both his girls. I love that he learns how to braid hair for Ellie’s daughter🫠 I love his nickname for her.
One part broke my heart because you could feel his pain in the words.
Tropes: Hockey romance Neighbors to lovers Single mom Secret relationship
Hands down the best micro-trope out there is when a single parent meets someone new, and that person steps in and becomes the ultimate role model. If you love a swoony man, who can step up, and be a man in and out of the bedroom this book is for you.
This story follows Ellie and Trevor.
Ellie is a single mom of a daughter, Addy, who is 5 years old, and is going through a nasty divorce. Trevor is a hockey player who is just overall lost with life, and not sure if he wants to continue with hockey or retire.
They probably had one of the most memorable meet cutes…and I died in a fit of giggles because IRL, and in Ellie's position I'd be completely mortified.
There is a strong pull between the two, and they start spending time together. Ellie starts to discover that not all men are a disappointment, like her ex. Trevor is all MAN! He treats both girls like QUEENS!
I love how Ellie evolves as a character throughout the book, and really rediscovers loving herself. Trevor makes big decisions for himself, but starts to see that decisions and choices he makes isn't just for his future, but also Ellie & Addy. The twist at the end is the best cherry on top of the cake.
This book had the perfect balance of banter, angst, plot & spice!! I cannot wait to continue this series!
ARC received today and cannot wait to dive in!!! I am so thankful to have received a gifted copy !Lexi James 3rd book in her NY Cyclones series have the sweetest characters all hockey romance lovers will be waiting anxiously for her next release. TREVOR ADAMS is definitely been added to my golden retriever green flag man list ;he was there 💯for everything Ellie needed , to support and encourage her to fill her life with what she is passionate about. He is so giving to her little girl Addison planning fun days just for her that will have every mom reading wishing that their little girl had a replacement Dad this wonderful. Trevor finds with Ellie his life no longer revolves around hockey and he doesn't need to be a player to continue his Bromance with his team. The group chat is a lot like Meghan Quinn's Vancouver As series, with the same found family that readers loved with her characters. The only minor thing I didn't like was the third act "breakup" Ellie could have found a different way to handle her soon to be ex husband . I think we all could say Trevor should have handled it all earlier!!!
Hockey Heartthrob Trevor meets his new neighbor, single mom Ellie, in a hilarious twist of events when a box she is carrying spills open, and the... toy is left in the elevator with Trevor, buzzing away.
"I'm not your father, but I'm definitely not opposed to you calling me Daddy." 🌶️🌶️🌶️.5
Ok YES, Redemption from the last book in the series. Trevor and Ellie were so good together! Trevor, Mr. Tall Dark and Fuckable, is so swoony and has the perfect Daddy energy. After having other women tell him his k!nks in the bedroom were disgusting, he thought he would never find someone. Enter Ellie, a feisty little pink haired pixie, a single mom going through a divorce, also looking for a man who is into certain activities, such a little brat. This was perfectly spicy, the story was great (Until the dreaded 3rd act breakup that royally pissed me off and needed to be fleshed out a little better).
"Now, are you just going to stand there and complain about my attitude, or are you going to come fuck it out of me?"
I want to start this by saying this is book three in the Empire State Hockey series, so if you have been waiting for this amazing read, begin reading Power Play and Puck Princess and you’ll be incredibly excited for this book.
“Her tears mirror the emotions I’m feeling, making me believe that everything I’ve done in my life, every choice I’ve made, every little thing that has gone wrong, has all been leading me to this exact moment. This is the moment my life begins.”
The story of Trevor and Ellie begins with the most epic laugh out loud scene (IYKYK), I seriously couldn’t stop laughing! Our sweet single mother Ellie, is an entirely relatable character that is mid-divorce and trying to find her footing and inner strength again. Trevor is a down-to-earth, good and honest man, who just so happens to be a gorgeous superstar Hockey player and Ellie’s new neighbor. Trevor is not without his own inner struggles and trust issues from past relationships.
As the book evolves, Ellie and Trevor circle each other’s orbit like gravity and their chemistry is off the charts. They firmly establish that neither are looking for anything other than friendship at first, but their building chemistry filled with long stares and delicate touches, finally culminates into steamy love scenes that will surely leave you breathless. With the support of friends and family, Trevor and Ellie overcome their individual insecurities and doubt, which leads to an HEA.
Lexi wrote these characters perfectly and my love for this story will surely lead to many re-reads. This book has it all and I can’t wait to read the next book released in this series.
“…sometimes, even in the moments you get completely blindsided, you can’t help but love the outcome.”

Trevor = walking green flag! I usually love my book boyfriends to have a red flag or many, but I absolutely was swooning over every single thing Trevor did in this book! Ellie is in the middle of a divorce and her ex-husband is the literal worst. She moves out and finds herself neighbors to Trevor, the hot guy she had an elevator mishap with on the day she moved in lol. But they keep popping up in each other's lives and develop a friendship. The way he cares for Ellie and Addy and basically lives to make them both happy was so heartwarming! The chemistry between Ellie and Trevor has always been high and when they finally give in, it does not disappoint!
What to expect: -Hockey romance -Single mom -Neighbors -Friends to lovers
Blindside Love is out today! The third book in the Empire State Hockey series by @lexijameswrites, and my favorite couple yet. Ellie and Trevor have my whole heart.
This is the single mom trope done so insanely well. Ellie is getting out of a horrible marriage when she moves into an apartment building with her daughter, and in her haste to catch the elevator with her arms full of boxes, she ends up dropping her *toy* in front of her very hot hockey playing neighbor. This is the kind of meet cute we like to see around here. Trevor absolutely solidified himself as one of the sweetest book boyfriends, and to say I think about him constantly would be an understatement. He is actual perfection and just the kindest man ever. The way he cares for Ellie and Addy, while still appreciating Ellie’s independence and feistiness made him so insanely attractive. This whole book had me swooning constantly, and I can say I enjoyed every minute of it.
Go run and grab this book now, or head back to Power Play if you haven’t started the series and are looking for some new spicy hockey romances💕
I love a single mom and a very protective book boyfriend. Trevor was everything he needed to be for Ellie and Addy. I loved everything about this book!
God I thought Rex and Max were hot but my god Trevor 🥵 after reading this I’m a little hot under the collar.
Lexi you have written a another great book I love both main characters and the gorgeous Addy, the story had my emotions all over the place with Trevor worrying about not been able to be himself with women and Ellie having to deal with her Ex who is dislike from the off.
It was great that we get to see Rex and Swayer and Max and Cassie along with Trevor other team mates.
Blindside Love was everything I hoped for and more. I just thought I loved the first two men in the series (which I absolutely did) but OMG.... Trevor Adams is top book hubby material!
If You Love: •hockey romance •neighbors to lovers •forced proximity •single parent trope •dirty talking alpha •he falls first & hard •breath play
You meet Trevor, Ellie & Ellie's sweet 5 year old, Addy.
Trevor is a hockey player for the Empire State team, playing at his best but is internally battling with his desire to retire. His friends have all settled and he's over living the bachelor life and is looking for a commitment. He also has certain desires (man is a Dom & the very best) in the bedroom, and his wants make finding a compatible relationship difficult.
Ellie is a mom first and everything else second. After marrying the father to her child very young and giving up her dreams and identity, thanks to her over controlling soon-to-be ex-husband, Ellie isn't looking for love or anything of the sort when she accidentally meets Trevor. Trust me, you're going to despise her ex! She's dreamed of becoming an artist & has lost the desire she once had to paint, thanks to her terrible ex, but her passion quickly returns as a result of her and Trevor's "friendship". The colorless world she was recently living in is now full of cover and happiness. Ellie also has unmet desires in the bedroom and a thing for Breath Play. Their tension and banter are ridiculously spicy and incredible!
Speaking of their meet cute... I laughed so hard & love that Trevor kept her *toy*. Believe me when I say you've gotta read it!
The word "friendship" is also a sore subject for dear Trevor. He makes his feelings known as the man fell hard... first and fast (not to be confused with his actions in the bedroom). Ellie and Trevor have a quick connection and he brings out the absolute best in her. Both girls are untrusting of men thanks to their past, but you can quickly tell just how honest and good of a man Trev is. Insta-love is a real thing as far as he's concerned, and he'll go to unimaginable lengths to bring joy to his girl's lives.
Lexi did such an incredible job writing the spicy scenes. It was so refreshing to read a strong FMC like Ellie, who knew exactly what she wanted and liked, and was not afraid to ask for it. I loved how the two were both on the same page with what they liked in the bedroom. But oh-em-gee this man's mouth and actions behind closed doors (or in the alley). To say I am obsessed is an understatement.
Things I can't stop thinking about: -The way he calls her "Kitten" -His mouth... period! -The way he stands up to her ex -How much he loves his "Addy girl" -Addy nicknaming him "T-Rex" -The way he learns to braid hair for her daughter -Give me all the pinky promises -I'm sorta obsessed with the breeding kink in this book
I couldn't put this book down and there will absolutely be a re-read in my near future. Blindside Love is book 3 in the Empire State Hockey Series and can be read as a standalone; but I can promise you, after reading this one, you'll want to read the first two.
I'll be living in my Blindside Love bubble forever & can't wait for more from the series with Cade & Gwen's story coming Spring 2024!
It was pure perfection…. Until that third act break up. But still perfection.
I did not start at the beginning of this series, so you’re fine if you have not either. I will be going back though, as I loved this book and want to get the other stories as well.
Ellie’s a very newly single mom with a five year old girl, after leaving her dbag cheating husband. Their parents are best friends, and when they became unexpectedly pregnant they were forced to marry. To say it was an unhappy marriage isn’t enough. He’s a mentally and verbally abusive jerk, absent father, and has been sleeping with her best friend who is also his assistant. She’s finally filed for divorce, working on getting back to who she really is, and building a happy life for her and her daughter.
Trevor- a hockey player god, cinnamon roll boyfriend by day and a freak by night 🥵💦 For real though, where does one sign up for one of those??? This guy is everything. He’s reached a point of his life where he’s just coasting. He’s not loving his life anymore. He’s past the puck bunny scene, afraid to share his bedroom desires for fear of being judged again, and seriously considering retiring from hockey. And then he has a hilariously embarrassing meet cute with the pink haired overall wearing new neighbor who steals all his attention.
These two are fire together. They both just fit and heal a lot of the damaged parts in each other. It was such a great ride watching their relationship unfold. The side characters are all great as well. Her friend Natalie is a hoot. And I love how awesome Trevor was with Addy right off the bat.
Ughhhhhhh. That third act break up though 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️. Why?? Why do people think doing something alone means they are strong?? Throwing away your support system is NOT strength. That is so far from the truth is ridiculous. It actually means you are foolish. She’s running on fear. But to hear her blather on about it being a sign of strength makes me want to punch her. As someone who counsels women daily that reaching out for support is a sign of strength and not weakness, this mentality K!LLS me. 🤬🤬🤬
“I need to show myself I’m strong. That I can protect those around me, and that means doing it on my own.”
Am I being a bit extra in my anger over it? Maybe. It hit a personal note because it’s a real issue for a lot of people and I fight against that stupid mentality every day, so it ticks me off. Ugh. Thankfully it was short lived, and Trevor received good advice about her self sabotaging. But dang.
::stepping off my soap box::
I adored this book. Ridiculous third act break up and all. The writing was solid, the characters well developed. The steam was 🔥🔥. I was invested from beginning to end. And I'm definitely looking into the rest of the series.
God I am such a simp for the Empire State of Hockey men.. Trevor is everything I envisioned he would be. After meeting him in Rex’s book, I was obsessed with my golden retriever of a soon to be book boyfriend. He has such a loving and playful personality but our man has been hiding his true self away from the world which is a shame. I love the more dominant and possessive version of him that we see in his relationship with Elie. It will make you melt when he gets all growl and protective over his girls. I was a straight puddle nearly the whole book. IYKYK.
Ellie is such a well crafted character and she has been through the ringer. She survived a loveless marriage that took so much from her but also gave her the greatest and cutest gift, Addy. She things she is broken and not ready for the next adventure but she really is just a little bruised up right now but our Trevor tends to ever minor and major battle wound she has with such care and tenderness. Lexi absolutely slays the writing of strong independent baddies as the FMCs. Ellie stubborn streak was a mile long though so fair warning, you might start yelling at your kindle when she gets a bit too dense but it also ratchets up the angst times a million along the way so its worth it.
Lexi also gave us one of the cutest girls, Addy, in this book. I love her five year old sass so much and she has some of the very best cute moments with her mom and Trevor. Yea, Trevors swoon factor is off the charts with how he treats Addy. The Princess day *swoon* I mean Daddy Rex is the OG but Daddy Trevor is equally as yummy (Daddy Rex you’re still my fave though!) just wait until her and Rory grow up. They are going to have us readers in a tailspin for sure if she writes a second gen series!
Outside of how much I enjoyed the relationship development for Trevor and Ellie and Addy, I also really enjoyed how the plot progressed too. The whole Tom storyline really blended well into the story as these two navigated their friends to lovers relationship. Each plot line ebbed and flowed at the right time without overshadowing the other but rather complementing it very well so you have a steady stream of angst and drama. Tom is a piece of work TBH. I think Sawyer and Max’s mom might edge Tom out by a hair for the top awful person spot and that is saying something.
Trevor is the broody hockey player, who is thinking about retirement and life beyond hockey. When he meets Ellie, he feels something he’s not felt before.
Ellie moves into the apartment next door to Trevor. She’s navigating a new world as a single mother having left her cheating husband. She’s not ready for anything but to find herself again and a better life for herself and her daughter Addy.
These two feel a connection but will they be able to navigate all the challenges around them?
Oh my, Trevor is one hot growly book boyfriend. The way he shows up for Ellie is swoonworthy. He thinks she won’t be into the kinks he is but he’s found his match in her.
His interactions with Addy, her daughter is so freakin adorable, he just wants to show her unconditional support too. Her nickname for him is super cute.
Ellie is one strong and sassy FMC, and when she finds her voice, her strength, you’ll be cheering loudly for her. Her ex is a douche of the highest order, so it’s wonderful to see her escape from him, his words and his effect on her and Addy.
I can’t put into words to describe how much I loved and enjoyed this book.
This is the third book the Empire State Hockey series, and can be read as a complete standalone story but you’ll want to track back to the other two books because they are just as fabulous as this one. Blindside Love though is my favourite of the series so far.
Thank you to @lexijameswrites for the advanced e-copy of this book. I loved Trevor and Ellie’s journey to love, and the cute little family they become.
I swooned over Daddy Rex. I cheered for Max and his second chance redemption arc. But it is Trevor, far and away, who absolutely stole my heart and ran away with it. I love a sort of bad boy who is also a really good man and that is absolutely Trevor.
From his laugh out loud meet cute with Ellie featuring an elevator and a giant pink dildo, to his steady campaign to win over Ellie and her daughter Addy, Trevor was absolutely swoonworthy, A+ boyfriend material. The way he was so protective over them both, determined to be the man that they needed in their lives was so lovely to read, and his love for both "his girls" just jumped for joy off the page. I loved how ready he was to embrace and start the next phase of his life after hockey as a partner to Ellie and a father to Addy, and watching him build his new life around them ad a family was absolutely my favorite.
And sweet, independent, feisty Ellie - never has there ever been a woman more deserving of a steady and rock solid partner who comes with a whole group of fabulously supportive friends and a wonderful, loving family. She has been through so much with her ex-husband and was so amazing as she built a new life for herself and her daughter. Trevor came around at just the right time, and he was just absolutely made for her.
I have read all three books in this series over the last 10 days and I regret nothing. They are all so full of fun, hope, love, and so many happy endings. If you haven't read the whole series, RUN, because every word is pure and utter joy.
This is such a fun book world Lexi has created. I was very excited to be back with some of my favourite characters from previous books, Rex, Sawyer, Cassie and Max for another drama filled hockey romance. I was so excited to meet Ellie and she did not disappoint, what a fire cracker! There was a lot going on for her with her ex husband who is the absolute worst and the cutest kid imaginable Addie was definitely the star of the book, it made for some swoony protective moments with Trevor right from the start defending her against the evil ex. Trevor is protective and dominant in every way most notably in the bedroom. Although I would say still on the light side compared to some other books I've read he has a rough energy that had me blushing and biting my lip. These two are obsessed with each other with a magnetism that can't be explained, they are just meant to be and are so so perfect together.
Trevor is struggling with what makes him happy as he has lost the spark he once had for Hockey. He stresses over this for much of the book trying to decide if retiring is the right step for him. I haven't read a lot of hockey romance dealing with this side of the sport so that was a refreshing angle and I loved that the more he spent time with Ellie and eventually Addie he found his new calling as a girl dad. Honestly his interactions with Addie were my absolute favourite the love he has for this little girl is the most adorable thing referring to them as "my girls" had my ovaries exploding. Lexi's characters are always the standout of her books and this is definitely the case with this book as well.
This was a first read by Lexi James, and it was such a sweet story! About love and heartbreak and friendship and finding your inner strength!
What more embarrassing than when you’re moving into your dad’s extra apartment after leaving your cheating husband and you drop your box of self care toys?! When one of your faves falls, turns on and vibrates right into the open elevator to the feet of the most gorgeous guy you’ve ever laid eyes on. When hot elevator guy turns out to be a hockey star that just also happens to be your neighbor! Ellie is supposed to be finding herself and just caring for her and her daughter but friendship finds you when you least expect it, especially when it’s from your hockey star neighbor!
Trevor and Ellie’s chemistry was so intense and their passion for each other burned so bright! The way he always built Ellie up! Always supporting her in whatever she wanted to d. Everyone was so supportive of everyone in this book! Everyone built each other up instead of tearing them down, because well let’s be honest, Tom did enough of that for everyone! The book was a little slower than I’m used to. It didn’t really get into things until further in but Trevor and Ellie were adorable and loved their feistiness towards one another.
Tropes: Hockey romance You’re mine vibes Divorcee/single mom Awkward meet cute Golden retriever MMC Fiesty FMC
"She’s my reason. She’s the rush, the excitement that had been missing from my life. I’d been sailing through life clueless of what I needed, but everything clicked into place the second I met her. She’s my reason to push on and be my best. She’s why I wake up every morning with a smile on my face and go to sleep every night excited for our next adventure."
OMG where do I start?? Trevor and Ellie were so cute together! They were perfect for each other. Ellie helped Trevor find something to look forward to in life, and Trevor helped build Ellie's self confidence in herself and her art. It was truly a beautiful story. Of course, I can't forget about Addy. She was such a sweet little girl and deserved the entire world. Trevor showed his love for her so well. I found myself tearing up with how much of a good dad he was almost instantly. The Disney surprise was soooo cute! Not only did Trevor fully accept Addy into his life, but he also supported rather than take over when Ellie was fighting her battles (dealing with her awful ex). Ugh everything about this man was perfect! I was smiling the entire time I was reading his POV. While there was a third act breakup, it was pretty short, which was good. Also, the spice was absolutely DELICIOUS! I can't wait to read the next book in the series!
I knew I was going to love Trevor even more in his book after seeing him in Power Play. Trevor is a 34 yr old hockey player, tired, physically and mentally of hockey, and over the puck bunnies. He is as Sawyer calls him " rough and tumbly " in the bedroom and that is holding him back from making real love connections.
Ellie is trying to divorce her douche canoe husband, while raising their 5 year old daughter Addison. She has moved out of the home, right next door to Trevor. [ these two meet in a very embarrassing way, what did ever happen to that dildo? 🤔😂]
They quickly become "friends" and Trevor sees just how terrible her husband is, and how strong Ellie is. She finds happiness and herself again with Trevor and picks the paintbrush back up.
My favorite part of single mom books are the guy falling hard for the kid. Trevor is wrapped around Addys finger immediately and the things he does to make her happy was so sweet! Making up for the terrible father.
I loved seeing him be so open and honest about his feelings with Ellie and taking his time, letting her have control in the direction of there relationship. Trevor is a daddy & a Daddy 😏. Him and Ellie are extremely compatible in and out of the bedroom. 🥵 Loved seeing Rex and Sawyer showing up and helping out. Cannot wait for Cade!
“She’s admitted she likes me, and now I feel like it’s my birthday.”
Ellie is looking for a fresh start away from her cheating ex for her and her daughter and finds herself right next door to the hockey heartthrob that seems like everything she shouldn’t want. But the more time she spends in his company and she sees the way he dotes on her daughter, an area where her ex consistently fell short, the more she realizes loving Trevor might be what she needs to keep coming back to life.
Trevor and Ellie are a delicious experience! He is so incredibly sweet and decadently filthy. There are so many scenes with this friend group where I couldn’t stop grinning and kicking my feet with how gone Trevor is. Trevor perfectly combines the dirty talking dominant hockey player with the sweet and vulnerable man that’s entirely head over heels and doing his best to make all the right moves. Ellie gives as good as she gets and I loved seeing her fire fighting back with her menace of a soon to be ex husband.

Thankful for the opportunity to read an early copy!
The way this one started off had me laughing. Trevor and Ellie have quite an embarrassing meet cute that I don’t think I could ever recover from but luckily, they do! These two had such a chemistry. The steam y’all!
Trevor is a MMC that is so easy to fall for. No matter how much Ellie tries to be just friends with Trevor, it’s impossible. He is everything that he ex could never be. He is supportive, kind, attentive and adores her daughter. How can anyone resist that? Plus he’s a hot hockey god! Not to mention, the way I was swooning so hard with Trevor and Ellie’s daughter, Addy. It was honestly the cutest thing ever.
I loved Ellie so much. She was a fierce FMC. She’s trying to get herself back after an ass of a man tore her down. Seeing her come in to her own, take back the life she always wanted was so great to read about. And Trevor was just here to help put her back together. Gah I just loved that.
If you love a sports romance, single parent, some seriously good spice, and moments that will have you a puddle on the floor - read Blindside Love!
I have been an alpha reader for Lexi since her very first book and I have absolutely loved watching her grow into the author she is today. Blindside Love is her best book yet and I adore Trevor and Ellie’s story.
Ellie is a single mom, trying to stand on her own two feet after leaving her abusive ex husband (littttttterally fuck that guy. Hate him.) When she runs into her hot hockey player neighbor is a really awkward elevator meet-cute, they’re both completely taken by one another. Trevor does his best to keep a safe distance, but it’s only a matter of time before he can’t resist the feelings that he’s developing for Ellie. And when he finally gives in…*dies* *comes back to life* *dies again* Let’s talk about how filthy this man is. On second thought, let’s not. I don’t want to spoil it for you, but he’s defffffinitely spicy. 🥵
I love this whole relationship. Especially the one between Trevor and Ellie’s daughter. He steps up for them both in ways that neither of them got to experience with Ellie’s ex. (Again, fuck that guy.)
I loved the previous two books and absolutely cannot wait for what comes next in this series. GIMME!!! Blindside Love is out today, so go check it out!
I’ve had the honor of reading all three books in Lexi James, Empire State Hockey Series so far, and they just get better! I absolutely adore Ellie and Trevors Story.
Ellie and Trevor meet under unfortunate (read: humiliating) circumstances when she trips, falls, and the contents of her moving box spill in the parking garage. They were both mortified when a certain item rolled into the elevator where Trevor was standing.
Turns out, they’re actually neighbors (how convenient!). When Trevor knocks on the door to confront his new neighbor about the Taylor Swift that was blasting through the walls until 3:00am - he is (pleasantly) surprised to see Ellie standing there. The tension is THICK (IYKYK).
Ellie is going through a nasty divorce and custody battle with her disgusting ex - like gross gross! She’s not quick to trust or let her guard down, but Trevor manages to get her to relax and finally realize who she is.
There were several contradicting details/storylines in the book. There is a 3rd act break up - which I am not a fan of. Overall the story was enjoyable. The sassiness and banter, and the way Trevor treats Addy, Ellie’s daughter is just *chefs kiss*
i love these two so much and i cannot wait for you to meet them! their story is one of my absolute favorite and i love trevor so so so much. • ellie is a single mama to addison and she is trying to rebuild her life and get herself back after her shitty ex-husband, tom, just… does shitty things. there is really no other.. bookstagram appropriate way to say it. she hasn’t been able to get into her art or see her daughter in a loving household. but trevor could just be the one to change all of that. • trevor is a professional hockey player for the new york cyclones, and just happens to be her next door neighbor.. which they discover after an embarrassing elevator encounter and a taylor swift dance party. idk about you, but i can’t think of anything better? trevor falls fast, and he falls hard. but that’s what happens when you literally meet the girl of your dreams, and you do everything you can to make sure her and her daughter are never less than their happiest selves. • if you’ve followed me for a bit, you know i love lexi James and the empire state hockey series, daddy rex is my fave and WHO couldn’t love max. but something about trevor just warms my heart and melts me.
Oh my god, I don’t even know where to begin with this review!!!! Trevor is just 🥵🫠😍 he is a d!try talking hockey player that 🤌🏻😘
“Sometimes, it’s the messy moments, the moments where we believe we are doing exactly what we shouldn’t be doing when we find ourselves in the perfect moment, like some beautiful mistake.”
Ellie is our independent strong single mom who is fighting her ex for the divorce and custody when Trevor just pops into her and Addy’s life!
There are so many parts about this book that I just am obsessed with but Trevor man, he is the PERFECT book boyfriend! The way he falls hard and fast, but never pressures Ellie, how he learns to braid hair when Addy asks him to and he doesn’t know how…the instant love he shows Addy from the beginning has me 🫠 that little girl is just so adorable!!!
And trust me the spicy?! It’s PERFECTION!!
“I’m not your father, but I’m definitely not opposed to you calling me daddy,”
This is a single mom, neighbor, hockey romance, he falls first, honestly it hits EVERYTHING I love and I just DEVOURED it! And the spice?!!! Yes please!!!
