When Maggie O'Brien's virtual game suddenly becomes a reality, she is confronted by a gorgeous, well-muscled warrior who sets her pulse racing, and it is up to her to keep him safe when danger threatens to tear them apart. Original.
I love both reading and writing romance novels. I also love a really good mystery, so I like to include a puzzle for my readers to solve along with the characters. I'll confess to being a chocoholic, but that's my only confession.
I was born near Rochester Castle, and I blame that proximity for my love of England and English history. When not reading, writing, and researching romance, I'm living the real thing with my husband in the Philadelphia suburbs.
I've decided backlists should not die so I've given mine to Ellora's Cave's "Blush" line.
I have a new historical romance out now, LORD OF SWORDS! It is my first book since returning to publishing after an illness hiatus. Please check it out!
Take a video game, time travel, throw in puffins, dragons, a modern woman, and a sexy hero and you have Virtual Heaven. It sounds all kinds of crazy but it actually was a fun book to read. Ann Lawrence has written a wonderful book that is filled with romance and adventure. So what did I like about this book? Since it's filled with action and romance, pretty much everything. The story begins a bit slow in the modern world but once it shifts to Tolemac this book takes off. Maggie and Kered are great characters and wonderfully written. I think Ann Lawrence did a great job in in showing both their struggles especially Maggie’s as she tries to fit into a not so modern world. The secondary characters provide a welcome flavor to the story. My favorite is Vad. There is a part in the book where he is playing cards with Maggie that just had me cracking up. I really do hope he gets his own book. I would love to see how he handles a romantic interest. Virtual Heaven is a great read. Anybody who is looking for a romance book with a twist should read this book. I received this book from JeepDiva in exchange for my honest review. The opinions and rating of this review are solely mine and in no way was I compensated.
The description of the book I am listing below is from the back jacket of the book. I'm adding it because I believe the one on the Goodreads page does not depict this story.
The warrior loomed over her. His leather jerkin, open to his waist, revealed a bounty of chest muscles and a corrugation of abdominals. Maggie O'Brien's gaze jumped from his belt buckle to his jewel-encrusted boot knife, avoiding the obvious indications of a man well-endowed. Too bad he was just a poster advertising a virtual reality game.
Maggie had always thought such male perfection could exist only in fantasies like Tolemac Wars. But then the game took on a life of its own, and she found herself face-to-face with her perfect hero. Now it would be up to her to save his life when danger threatened, to gentle his warrior's heart, to forge a new reality they both could share.
This is the first story I’ve read by Ann Lawrence that was not an historical romance…and it certainly surprised me…in a good way! From the cover and a blurb here and there, I really expected some type of super-hero paranormal; but instead, what I read was a fantastic, edge-of-my-seat sci-fi time-travel story. I love time-travels if they’re done well and this one was certainly a blue-ribbon winner in that category! The heroine (Maggie) enters a virtual world through a video reality game and falls in love with a warrior hero (Kered) in that world. The trials and tribulations Maggie and Kered enter into in that virtual world are more real than fantastical and the choices they make to get to their happy-ever-after were riveting. I swear I could not put this story down from beginning to end—for a day and a half! Ms. Lawrence has mastered yet another genre for her readers and I heartily endorse this sci-fi virtual series.
