The War Within (Revised and Expanded Edition): Gaining Victory in the Battle for Sexual Purity

Rate this book
Sexual sins are some of the most difficult to conquer. They're also some of the most destructive-leaving individuals, marriages, families, and churches devastated.

Facing sexual temptations daily, too often unfaithful in thought or deed, persistently assaulted by the world, the flesh, and the Devil, can men today possibly win the war for sexual purity?

This courageous book offers a resounding "yes!" It also provides a battle strategy based on the promises and power of God-and on the author's experiences in breaking a 25-year struggle with sexual sin. Newly revised and expanded, this book will lead you to a new level of purity and will encourage you that in this terribly private struggle, you are never alone.

"Romans 13:14 says, "Clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature." We are not to play around with the flesh. We are not to see how close we can come to temptation and then escape. We are rather to discipline ourselves to stay far away from sexual temptation and, when necessary, to flee. Why? "The spirit is willing, but the body is weak" (Matthew 26:41) ~ Robert Daniels, The War Within, Page 132.

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (James 4:7). This verse sums up what this book is about. However, the author gives some practical tools for doing this. One of these tools is scripture meditation and memorization. It other words doing what Jesus did when he fasted 40 days and 40 nights in the desert at the beginning of his ministry. He resisted the devil with the Word of God.

We ought to be like Christ and continue in a close relationship with God and then resist the devil, the flesh and the world with the Word of God.

So many strategies found in this book that I cannot go into detail here. Read the book and be on your way to becoming stronger in keeping yourself pure.

A very practical read on battling sexual sin. His naval analogies were especially good. I highly recommend it to those who struggle in this area.
