In honor of her passing, I dug out this book by Sister Kapp which my mother had given me as I embarked on my teaching career. I appreciated the influence Sis. Kapp had on me as a young woman in the young women program of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It was an inspirational book to me then as I read about her teaching experiences. Upon rereading it over 40 years later, it seems so far removed from teaching nowadays, with how much the profession has changed. The main points ring true, but the stories seem like a different world.

This is Sister Kapp's first book.....she shares mostly experiences about her days as a school teacher. I learned so much and even shed a tear or two. It felt like I was peaking into her journal...very personal and interesting experiences. Her niece, Shelly, is a friend of mine, so I always get a kick out of the Shelly stories. The one about Shelly's Halloween witch costume is really funny. Also, there's a story about Shelly making her Aunt a crafty Christmas gift (a yarn-woven hot pad), and it was hilarious.

Anecdotal, along the lines of a modern Aesop. A very pleasant read with common age situations.
It’s Uplifting and sometimes a little melancholy. Nice writing, comfortable style, reminds me of a hot bowl of stew on a wintery day.
This will never become a classic but will remain good choice to read between epics.

I love Ardeth Greene Kapp. I love her gentleness and humbleness. She teaches without lecturing and preaches a sermon, without moralizing in her simple stories. This book talks of simple truths in children- and adults who were once children.

I loved her experiences that she shared in her book. Amazing things can happen when you build trust and have true concern for someone else.

This was a very good book for teachers of children. Times have changed a lot since it was written, but there is still much to be gleaned on loving and helping children in this book. 104 pages long.

She warmed my heart and provided me more insight in how to be there for a child. I could feel her genuine love she has for those she encounters.

Qur’an: Chapter 33 – The Coalition, Verse 69, 70—
You who believe, do not be like those who abused Moses. God cleared him of what they said. He became outstanding with God. You who believe, heed God and speak straight to the point.
