Hunted: A Vampire & Witch Paranormal Romance & Urban Fantasy

Rate this book
Mercy is barely holding on after her coven was killed in an act of ultimate sacrifice. But beyond the veil of death, Caleb opens a path for Mercy to discover a source of ancient power that had revived her after her first death on Gallows Hill in 1692.

To find the magic she needs to resurrect her coven, Mercy and Dorian journey to a hidden island and uncover long-buried secrets from an ancient coven who practices magic with ties to beyond the grave. Mercy and Dorian’s love grows stronger, and their destiny as fated mates becomes their power in a world rife with uncertainty.

Meanwhile, Maurice continues to plot his conquest of the human world. He’ll not stop until every mortal is bowing to his will. While he toys with Mercy, his obsession grows to a dangerous level, and ultimately, it may be his undoing.

As Maurice’s plans unfold, the worlds of magic will collide, and if Mercy and her allies don’t stop him, the Devil will rise and consume them all in a world of shadow and fire.

Hey readers! I'm D.L. Blade.

I've always had a passion for creative writing, starting my career as an author with somewhat milder books and now exclusively writing dark romance. I love looking for ways to take my readers on a journey into a world of unconventional love, morally gray men, and villains who get the girl.

When I’m not writing, I enjoy reading, spending time with my family, attending rock concerts, and exploring new restaurants in Denver.

I dream of continuing to create exciting novels for my readers and taking them on a journey through the magical realms that spill from the pages of my books.

***All three of my young adult novels are written under Diana B. Lynn. Please note that if you see the titles The Dark Awakening, The Dark Underworld & The Dark Deliverance out there, these are NOT adult, dark romances, like I write today. They are young adult romances.

Hunted (Blood of Chosen Book 3) is the impeccable ending to this Urban Fantasy Romance. Spellbinding, oh so smexy, and spine-chilling twist. Also love the character's friendships, the worldbuilding descriptions & settings, plus the escapades are highly entertaining. A pageturner spicey read.

Spine-chilling twist, the world building descriptions & settings, plus the escapades are highly entertaining. Must read this series in order. So much depth to these stories that only reading them in order will you see it. Dark magic, worm holes, kidnapping, poisoning, captivity, so much that Mercy has to deal with. I could not put it down and I had to binge read these books. Great ending to a fantastic trilogy.

Whereas the previous books were rollercoasters, this one pulls out all the stops in being hair raising, suspense filled episodes and spicey interludes that can burn the house down. Even though I felt like shaking Mercy at times into realising she's got the powers to use, this was a real page turner for me. Witches, wolves, vampires, resurrections, demons from the underworld and a totally deranged nemesis combined with the love between family and friends plus group support.

Please, do not read 'Hunted," the third and concluding title in the 'Blood of the Chosen' series unless you have read first 'Stalked' and then 'Taken.' There is so much depth to these stories, developments, twists to the story that it will only truly all fall into place if you read them in order.

Macy has lost her clan. They died to save her, the most powerful witch who has ever lived, or she will be if, and only if, she can find the source of her power but it will not be easy. Nothing has yet been easy. Until she finds a way into purgatory, finds Caleb and demands answers she has no clue what to do or where to look. The clue he reveals is going to lead Mercy and Dorian to some dark witches and potentially great danger.

If they cannot find the source of Mercy's power, if they cannot find allies, it may be that Maurice will win after all. They know they cannot make that happen.

Maurice's obsession with Mercy has deepened and appears to be leading him down a path to madness and greater cruelty than even his followers expect. But he wants to rule the world and he thinks he has found a way, a dangerous path indeed.

Dark magic, worm holes, kidnapping, poisoning, captivity. Mercy, Dorian, Mercy's family have to face all of these dangers and more if they are going to win the fight and come out alive. They must also consider their future steps, what will they do if they eradicate Maurice? How will they keep humanity safe and protected. Even with their leader gone there will be vampires who do not wish to be turned and there will always be dark witches.

As Dorian and Mercy begin to understand their relationship and develop it further they also understand the risks but these are risks they know they have to take if they want to be able to live together in a world without threat.

This story takes us into some of the darkest moments of the trilogy, after all this is dark urban fantasy, but it is not without light, warmth and the strong sense of hope. It demonstrates the strength that the bonds and power of love and friendship truly are.

I could not put it down and I had to binge read these books, I was that hooked! Many questions are raised but more are answered, bringing all the strands together and leaving us sated, at last!.

I read this adult version of the story, and the full trilogy after reading the YA versions of the trilogy. Both had me gripped, I devoured all the books and they are quite different in that with the adult versions we get a much stronger understanding of the depth of the relationships between the characters, something that adults can truly appreciate.

Not as enjoyable - read on KU

I enjoyed the first book. I liked the second book ok, but I had to push myself through this one. I think I was just tired of the characters and story. They had outlived their interest. We do get more character-building for Mercy in this book. I could have done without quite so much of Maurice's POV. Just like I could have done with less of Caleb's pov in book 2. The details of the relationship between Caleb and Melissa didn't aid the story in any way. Although, it does seem unrealistic Mercy was the only one who had an outside relationship before. Why didn't Leah, Simon, and Ezra get one?

The editing was great. It was better than the norm from an author with this size following. Better than that from top publishing houses in some cases. I only saw one mistake and that was where the wrong name was used once. And that was in the whole series. I didn't agree with the comma use 100% but the rules on commas have changed and I'm not always correct in their use.

I really feel like books 1 and 2 could have been combined and some scenes cut out. Her trip to purgatory the second time was redundant and didn't gain her any useful knowledge. Yes, she learned something about Caleb, but she didn't learn anything that helped bring them back, she already had that knowledge when she went to him. I also didn't care for the part where she's told in this book she still doesn't have all her power after she was told in book one that she had her full power after retrieving it from her mom and going through her ascension.

I might try something new by this author, but I won't follow her.

This is the third and final book from the Blood of the Chosen Trilogy and it's beautifully written.

Yeah this third book makes me want to reread the whole Trilogy again.

Mercy is on a journey to help her coven whole again and to make sure that Maurice can never hurt anyone else again!!!

It has different realms, love, suspicion, travel and spicy scenes that will make you fan yourself to get through them.......

This was the best possible ending for this Trilogy and I can't wait for other new books from D. L. Blade.

I'm not going to tell you to much but let's just say that Maurice, Dorian, Caleb, Lily, and Joel get the ending that they all deserve.

This was a very emotional read for me since I was just so hyped up and really into this Trilogy. I am also very glad that the people, vampires, witches, werewolves and whomever else I forgot got what they were looking for, mostly hehehe......

Seriously you really need to read these books and enjoy them as much as I have.

Hunted: A Vampire & Witch Paranormal Romance & Urban Fantasy

Did I cry? Yes. Was I crying just because it was over? Partly. Was I also crying because I was an emotional wreck reading this at certain spots? YES.

This was a great ending to the trilogy. Do I need a minute to decompress? Also yes. Will I be reading more works by this author? Yes, but honestly probably towards the end of the month.

This.Had.Me.In.Tears. Mercy’s clan…..

Honestly, I found this entire series to be perfectly done and I am so looking forward to reading more by this author.

The world building- chef's kiss. The plot- chef's kiss. The characters- chef's kiss.

I must be in the minority here, but the series got worse and worse and worse.

Tropes:
Communication Issues (IT NEVER STOPPED)
Love Triangle (almost done but not)
No real plot development

I also don't like Dorian (sorry not sorry). I am more of a Caleb fan, even a Maurice fan more than Dorian. Dorian is the sweet MMC, verses Caleb and Maurice are morally gray. Caleb literally would give anything (with his life) and burn the world for Mercy, and Maurice is willing to also do anything for Mercy to have her (even though the obsession isn't healthy, I am here for it).

Mercy did not grow at all as a character through the three books, and she is OP...which in my mind is just pointless.

I wish the series was better because I thought it could be a good idea.

Blood of the Chosen book 3 and DL Blade has still kept my interest in this series, between the character development, the continued world-building, and a plot that has come full circle.
Mercy has gone through so much from Book 1, the dark magic, the kidnapping and so much more. She is a character that we've all been shocked over, felt bad for her, and have rooted for her to make her mark. The storyline has continued to grow and Blade has been able to keep me guessing what would happen next with all twists &B turns, heartache and devastating moments the characters had to go through.
I do think the love triangle needed some work between them all, but it did not take away from my love of this series.

This is the third and final book in the series, it was a really good way of finishing the series it tied all the story together and all the lose ends. Whilst I was reading I could not wait to find out what happened next going onto every chapter and Turing every page wondering, how it’s going to end and what could happen next.

I really enjoyed this series the characters, the plot and the way it was written was so beautiful to me, I will definitely be rereading this series again in the future and definitely recommend this series to anyone who loves a supernatural book will love this.

This series gets better and better. Heartache, action, more mystery and fated mates fuel Book 3 of the Blood of the Chose series.

I cannot say enough good things about this author’s writing style and character development. Maurice is the perfect villain. Mercy and Dorian are a strong leading couple as they race to save humanity. The spice, the intrigue and suspense are a perfect balance.

If you love fast paced urban fantasies with well-developed plots and lots of action, this series and this author is a must read.

Hunted is the third book in the trilogy, and just like the first two this one is just as good. I was completely blown away with how well-written this book is along with the others. I became absolutely hooked on this book trilogy that I’m so glad that I decided to read all three of these books. If you enjoy reading a paranormal romance & urban fantasy style book, then you should check this book out.

Fantastic ending to a terrific trilogy. The author once again brings strong characters and weaves a thrilling story that had me glued to the pages. It's well written with perfectly painted scenes, moves fluidly and is a terrific read. Loved this book/series and would highly recommend reading.

Fated, Ancient, and Unstoppable

Heartbroken and in need of magical assistance Mercy must adventure towards finding it. The task is arduous, but with the help of those she trusts and the bonds they have built, hey will stop at nothing to prevail. What a great way to end this series.

I loved this series… up until the end.

There were so many unanswered questions. Plus a lot of this last book felt so forced and fast to just get the series over. I was really disappointed.

The Maurice POV chapters were weird.

D.L. Blade has done it again in the thrilling conclusion to the series. Again, she surprises us with shocking and exciting twists.

Can I just say ... Dorian, swoon.

And Maurice's character is so well written. He takes sick and twisted to a new level. You will love to hate him. Or if you're like me, you enjoy a good villain.

Definitely recommend.
