Guinea Dog #2

Guinea Dog 2

Rate this book
Readers who loved Guinea Dog have been sitting, begging, and rolling over for a sequel. The beloved Patrick Jennings returns with the follow up to his award-winning and state list hogging title! When his classmates learn about Fido, the guinea pig that acts like a dog, they all want a piece of Rufus, her owner. But Rufus hates the attention, the demands, the "celebrity." So he decides to make Fido learn how to be an actual guinea pig. But when she goes missing, he feels terrible. Was she lost, "dognapped," or did she run away, because he no longer liked her just the way she was? Offering the same offbeat humor and pacing of the first Guinea Dog , this novel will prove to be a reader's best friend. In this hilariously entertaining series, guinea pigs act like other animals, proving that they might actually be the best kind of pet a kid could have after all! These early chapter books are a great choice for reluctant readers who love pets.

I really enjoyed this sequel to Guinea Dog. But it ended rather abruptly! I actually looked to see if maybe the audio had stopped. But it was over!

I enjoyed reading about Rufus's Guinea Dog! In this book, it's gotten out that Fido behaves like dogs do. And so Rufus is all of a sudden being badgered about Fido! Can Dmitry (I think that was his name) buy her? And can Rufus train others' guinea pigs to behave like dogs? Rufus doesn't like his newfound popularity, and he tries to train Fido to behave more like a guinea pig, and less like a dog.

But then Fido runs away! And Rufus really wants her back. She is eventually found

The baby guinea pig behaves more like a squirrel than a dog! And Rufus decides to give the baby to . So I am worried and wondering what is going to happen in Guinea Dog 3. I have it out on Libby from my library as well, so I'll be listening to this 3rd book later today on my walks with Max!

5 stars from Miss 5. She loves the Guinea Dog series so much that she listened to all three books sequentially by audiobook and was fascinated by them. She loves the idea of a guinea pig that thinks she's a dog and would pause the books so she could excitedly talk about them with me. The books also inspired her to switch from bunnies to guinea pigs on our petting farm visits so she can be a guinea pig mummy with a lapful of guinea pigs.

Miss 6 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes. We try to get different ones out every week or so; it's fun for both of us to have the variety and to look at a mix of new & favourite authors.

This is a very awesome book. Its about a boy wants a dog.His name is Rufus. But his dad has a strict rule no dogs in their house or even outside their yard. So instead his mom bought Rufus a guinea pig that acts like a dog. It even plays fetch bites barks and almost all the stuff a dog can do. Rufus hates getting attention from people especially from students. When the students found out that Rufus has a guinea pig that acts like a dog they all wanted to get the same cool guinea pig but they couldn't. You can read the book and find out the rest of the cool moments in the book. Also I recommend this book for everyone to read.

Rufus is worried when he can't find his guinea pig (that acts like a dog) and believes she's run away.

This is a sweet series that still manages to deal with some important things. Rufus is made very uncomfortable by his new fame and is desperately unhappy. Gradually, with some help from his friends and parents, he starts sticking up for himself and saying 'no'. There's a happy ending - Fido the guinea dog is found and brings a little surprise with her on her return. I don't plan to read the third book in the series but would if it dropped in my lap.

What a fun read with a lesson. Kids of all ages will love this book. On to the next book in this series.

Again, a 7 year old laugh-out-loud response to this book. I probably enjoyed this one more because the characters are familiar and the friendships are a bit deeper. The main character complains a lot, but I'll forgive him because I think he's expressing the disappointment, confusion, and difficulties often felt but probably not expressed by many kids. I guess that means he's relatable and can teach how to deal with those feelings. All while being funny and silly!

Guinea Dog Collection, Books 1-3
Patrick Jennings

Spend 9 hours reading three childrens novels to have a 25 minute discussion with a student about his favorite books……? Worth it!

This is actually a pretty darn cute series. It is listed as grade 3 reading, but I have no clue how to properly judge if that’s legit or not.

As with any book, there are pros and cons. My least favorite characters were my student’s favorite characters - and vice versa!

Not one of my favorites but for elementary age kiddos it is a pretty cute story. Think along the lines of lower elementary chapter book with very easy subject matter. If my kids reviewed it, they would have given 5 stars.

This kids parents make me want to drink. Guinea dog 1, his dad was making me so angry. Now #2 his mom is driving me nuts. Like pay attention to what your kid is telling you! 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ but also, it's a hilarious book and the kids And I LOVE it.

I think this book is a little too much ridiculosity (which is actually a word) for me. I’m sure it’s very entertaining to fifth graders, but not me. I liked Rufus’ best friend; he’s funny.

My kids again loved listening to this audio book about Fido the Guinea Dog. I liked the theme of Rufus, the boy, learning how to set boundaries, but it wasn't quite as good as the first.

This was cute. My 7 year old & I listen to audio books on school mornings while she is getting ready for school. We had a lot of cuteness overload from this book to give us a good start to our day.

Guinea Dog 2 is almost as good as the first. As with the first, it is has a nice balance between character development and plot. Rufus becomes a local celebrity when everyone hears that he has a guinea pig that acts like a dog. He is badgered so aggressively about it that he resolves to untrain Fido so everyone will leave him alone. The climax of the story is when, not long after Rufus begins his un-training quest, Fido disappears. The story ends with a fun (although somewhat predictable) twist.
