Micah Prescott will do anything to save his family's sheep ranch, even if it kills him. With a city-based firm pressuring him to sell and the bank threatening to call in his loan, he has less than a month to figure out a solution to keep the property his father strove so hard to protect. But when a storm rolls in, washing out the only bridge to town and bringing with it an unwanted visitor, he finds his options quickly dwindling.
Sales associate Francis Grace Riley will do anything to prove that she belongs. Convinced she can secure a deal where others had only failed, she takes to the mountains in search of one stubborn rancher, only to realize there is much more riding on the outcome of this trip than her job.
From the moment Micah rescues Grace on the side of the road, sparks fly—that is until he learns who she really is. Stuck together until the bridge is repaired, the two of them must learn to work as a team if they have any hopes of achieving their goals. But when things start to go wrong on the ranch, and sheep begin to disappear, they're left questioning who they can trust ...
... and what they're willing to sacrifice for those they care for.
"I can't wait to read more of the Prescott Family Romance series. [Dear Beth] is highly recommended for fans of inspirational contemporary romance, especially for readers who enjoy novels by authors such as Denise Hunter, Becky Wade, Melissa Tagg, and Susan May Warren." -Goodreads Reviewer
I love a good story, especially if it has a happy ending! From mountain adventures to Downton Abbey-esque romances, I firmly believe we could all use a little more inspirational and heart-warming tales to keep us up at night—tales that take us on far away (or not so distant) adventures and speak words of life and truth into our lives.
Prescott Family Romance Series: Dear Beth (novella) The Glass Cottage The Glass Road Fields of Glass
A Midsummer Romance (Summer in Wild Rose Ridge #4)
Endorsement: “Fields of Glass is a beautiful journey alongside characters that feel like friends. Schwarz’s vivid writing makes you feel as if you’re right on that Colorado ranch, experiencing each moment for yourself. A heart-warming story of redemption, second chances, and love, Fields of Glass is a transportive read that deserves a special place on your shelf.” -Caitlin Miller, author of The Memories We Painted and Our Yellow Tape Letters
Alyssa Schwarz has an easy-to-read and engaging writing style. I was eager to read this book since I generally love a good cowboy hero kind of book.
Riley bugged me at the first and for a good way into the book, but as she grew, I grew to like her more though I was never a fan of her reason for coming to the ranch in the first place. I enjoyed Micah from the start and understood him much better than I did Riley. Callie was a lot of fun though a bit judgmental when it came to what other people chose to eat or drink (she apparently disapproves of coffee). Caden was also delightful, and I'm still intrigued about his background and would enjoy knowing more about him.
The romance was very sweet though a bit dramatic at times, but that comes with the enemies-to-lover trope.
There was a little bit about faith and God here and there though I don't remember how much.
Overall, it was a sweet and enjoyable story with a good amount of tension between characters. If you enjoy the enemies to lovers, a cowboy hero, and Hallmarky tropes then this book is for you. It's a perfect summer or end of summer read.
*I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author/publisher for promotional purposes. I was not required to write a positive review. These are my honest opinions.
“Fields of Glass beautifully blends the vibrancy of Colorado ranch life with the whimsical atmosphere of a cosy cottage. Schwarz’s immersive storytelling is sure to delight the heart and the imagination as it leads you into the realm of cowboys, sheep, sweet romance, forgiveness, redemption, and the nuances of beekeeping.”
—Morgan Taylor Giesbrecht, author of The Lies We Live
“Fields of Glass is a beautiful story that paints a vivid setting where you feel right at home with the characters. Schwarz immediately captivates the reader with a storyline that provides laughter, intrigue, gentle romance, and an all-around good, wholesome read. Be prepared to learn about bee keeping with a comedic twist, enjoy the everyday ins and outs of a slower-paced life on a ranch in the middle of God’s beautiful creation in Colorado, and be touched by this heartwarming story with beautiful themes of forgiveness, redemption, second-chances, and love. This well-written novel is sure to live on in your heart long after you’ve finished it.” – B.M. Baker, author of the Wonders Never Cease series and A Melody of Love series
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! The story is unique and interesting. There's a bit of intrigue and mysterious things happening at the ranch. The setting of a small ranch in Colorado is beautiful!
The characters are wonderful! Micah is a man whose past haunts him. He's determined to succeed even though he's facing insurmountable circumstances. Grace is strong. She doesn't shy away from trying new things. Callie is my favorite! She looks on the bright side of things and is the friend everyone wants to have!
There are some romantic moments, but they are sweet: a few kisses.
All in all, it's a great book! It has some humor, tragedy, good times, and bad. A definite must read!
I was provided a copy of the book from the publisher/ author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
My profuse apologies to the author for forgetting to review for so long. I went on vacation right after reading and forgot to do it when I got home.
Things I loved about this book:
The setting. Schwarz has a gift for writing beautiful descriptions that place the reader directly in the setting. This one was a little different than her previous stories since the majority took place on a sheep farm, but it still was very lovely.
The faith content. I love that Schwarz's books are unapologetically Christian romances. This story was filled with a beautiful Christian message, and the theme of forgiveness was handled in a Biblical way.
The side characters. You get TWO romances in this book, guys. And the side characters were great. I loved then as much as the MCs.
Things I didn't love as much:
The trope. This is obviously not the author's fault as enemies to lovers is one of my least favorite tropes in contemporary romance. I will say that hers was done in a super gentle fashion that wasn't overly antagonistic as many of them tend to be. Unless you are a hard core ELT hater, this one is still worth the read for those of us who don't appreciate the trope as much. The faith content and themes make it well worth it.
The first kiss. This goes back to the trope, and I don't want to say more since it is somewhat of a spoiler, but ETL fans will probably not mind that it happened the way that it did.
Overall, this was a great read that just about any lover of contemporary Christian fiction and Christian romance will appreciate. For those readers like me who want great faith content that involves more than the characters talking about going to church or mentioning being a Christian in passing, Schwarz is a great author to pick up.
I was given an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to give a good review, and these thoughts and opinions are my own.
Although this is the third book in the series it definitely reads as a stand alone. The setting was beautiful and definitely makes you want to travel to beautiful Colorado! The characters were wonderful as well and very relatable. Micah is a man whose past taunts hime but he is determined to save his ranch. He wasn't counting on meeting Grace who is a strong female character and doesn't shy away from much. I liked them together and felt like they balanced each other well.
I absolutely loved Callie and thought there should be more of her. Perhaps she gets her own story in the future? This author not only does a good job with the setting of the story but with her faith elements. Trust in God is huge throughout this story and a great reminder to us all.
Overall I thought this was a good story. Although you don't have to read the whole series in order, you will certainly get to meet other characters that were mentioned in this one!
I received a copy of this book for review. I was not required to post a positive review. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
✝️ The faith aspects! 🙌 💌 The gentle love story 🐑 The sheep (both real and as a woven symbol) 🤍 The white truck as a white knight! 🐝The honeybees 👩❤️👨 The meet cute
"Sometimes all it took was to let someone be heard and to know their scars didn't need to be covered.”
"And if that meant letting go of his sense of control and trusting God with the future, he would. It wasn't giving up, but rather giving in to the embrace of the Good Shepherd. He didn't need to keep running anymore, because he'd already been found."
A gentle love story with beautifully woven elements of faith. Schwarz shows us that even if we are "lost sheep" God's love will always find us. And I couldn't have enjoyed the faith aspects of this novel more.
I am sometimes hesitant when starting a novel with faith aspects from an author who I haven't read before because it's usually very hit or miss for me. But I received such peace with reading this one! I connected with the faith storyline from the very first page, even highlighting the chosen Bible verse before the beginning of the book. The sheep motif throughout the novel was brilliantly crafted from the opening quote to the very end of the book. And I applaud the author for bringing such wonderful insight and beauty through the characters' faith journeys. It brought me such comfort as a reader and I am truly thankful for the beautiful faith quotes I have taken away from this novel!
CW: This is a sweet and clean romance. Brief mention of loss and family tragedy.
"It's not that I don't notice it. There is a lot of pain and suffering in this world. I can either let it control me, or I can choose to focus on the good and trust that God has a plan. It might not be what I think is best–and oftentimes it's the complete opposite–but He is always in control."
"Your shoes are rooted to the ground, Grace. And no matter how much you say you want to fly, you'll never do so much as walk if you don't pick up your feet and decide for yourself."
Fields of Glass, the final installment in the Prescott Family Romance series, is an enemies-to-lovers romance that is at the same time lighthearted and serious. I enjoyed getting to know Micah and Grace, as well as the sheep (Olive is so sweet) and Callie's honey bees. The setting was very peaceful, but Micah's poor farm sure took a beating over the years.
The book contains genuine humor, realistic problems, believable solutions, and likable characters. As always with Alyssa's books, the beauty and history of Colorado is set center-stage. I was a little surprised by some of the technical descriptions in the book. The author either has experience or did her research, and I learned a few things.
Faith, trusting in God's plan, is a key element, and I feel that their faith arcs were believable. I connected more with Grace's than Micah's, but he also came to a satisfactory end. The romances are sweet and clean, kisses only.
My only complaint is that there wasn't enough of Caden and Callie's story near the end. It wrapped up mostly 'off-screen' and not in their POVs. I would've preferred to see that happen from their POVs rather than Micah and Grace's. However, the main story is about Micah and Grace, so readers should focus on that.
I recommend Fields of Glass and the rest of the series if you enjoy clean, dependable, faith-based romances that are NOT overwrought/ridiculous, make sense, and leave you feeling content with the journey and the outcome. I'm looking forward to seeing where Alyssa goes next!
Orphaned at a young age, Grace has spent her life wondering about her roots. Having lived in the city for most of her life, she finds herself struggling to adapt to the ranch life. Despite the challenges, she is determined to make a go of it and, hopefully, convince Micah to sell the ranch.
Callie's positive outlook on life and her herbal remedies are a breath of fresh air for Grace. Callie's warmth and hospitality make Grace feel welcome and accepted. The banter between cousins Micah and Caden is both entertaining and heartwarming.
The author's descriptions of the bees, the ranch life, and the sheep are vivid and engaging. Olive, the adorable lamb, adds a touch of cuteness to the story. The faith messages woven throughout the pages are uplifting and inspiring.
This slow-burn romance unfolds amidst two budding romances on the side. Grace and Micah's initial hostility gradually transforms into a heartwarming connection that benefits all involved. The suspenseful elements throughout the story keep the reader engaged. Grace discovers the family she had been longing for in Micah, Callie, Caden, and, of course, the sheep.
Overall, this is a heartwarming and engaging story about family, faith, and finding one's place in the world.
Thank you to the author for the complimentary copy. All opinions expressed are my own.
"Micah dropped another roll of wire into the truck bed for good measure and scanned the nearby fields where the sheep grazed on the alfalfa. So much for that last harvest he was counting on."
Micah Prescott's family has owned their ranch for a long time. It hasn't always been easy. And the drought isn't helping yet. But he is not giving up yet. And he certainly is not willing to sell and move on. So when a company sends out a representative to try to change his mind, he is pretty steamed.
Grace wants her boss to respect her. Going the extra mile is worth it for a sale. Until she realizes that perhaps she does not understand the whole situation. Will she be willing to learn a whole new meaning of sacrifice?
This book is a romance. But as always with this author's books, there is so much more. This book celebrates family, community and roots. Faith is an integral part as well. And this one even contains a bit of suspense as they try to determine why things are falling apart around the ranch. Plus this story also includes a bonus romance. This book is a wonderful celebration of cultivating land and life from the fields.
This is the fourth book in the series, if one counts the prequel. While characters are mentioned from other books, this one could be read as a stand-alone story. And even if this book is read first, limited details are told about the other books. So one could read those titles later. Having read all of the books, I would recommend them all.
I did receive an advanced copy of this book as a part of a tour. I wanted to read it. All opinions are my own.
Fields of Glass is the final book in the Prescott Family Romance series but can definitely be enjoyed as a standalone with no problems.
This was such a beautifully written story. This is definitely a romance, and I absolutely loved the chemistry between Micah and Grace... but there was also a lot of other elements in the story that made it so much more than that. There is a beautiful story of family, friendship and belonging, a hint of mystery when things start going wrong around the ranch, and a wonderful message of faith and trusting God. I really enjoyed how all of these aspects of the story were woven together so beautifully. For me, I think the faith messages really stuck out in this one... and with it taking place on a sheep ranch, it really was such the perfect way for it to blend in seamlessly. I was drawn into these characters' lives right from the very beginning and it held me there through to the end. As much as I enjoyed Micah and Grace, I have to say the side characters were also every bit as wonderfully written too.
If you're looking for a beautiful, faith-filled romance, this is absolutely one you won't want to miss.
**I received an ARC for consideration. All opinions are my own.
3.5 stars. I really enjoyed this one! I liked how Grace met Micah unexpectedly, and their relationship was developed well (the transition from being enemies to more was great!). I did think it was a bit weird that she thought she could talk him into the contract by working on his farm... But her character grew in the end, which I did like. I also liked the natural faith elements, and the focus was on forgiveness in the end -a great way for Micah's character to grow. Callie and Caden were great side characters, and I loved Callie's side story (though Caden needed a bit more development). The writing was mostly good, only a few awkward sentences that necessitated rereading. The mystery was pretty obvious, but still a good addition to the plot. I'd like to read more in this series!
Content: clean.
I received this book free from the publisher/author. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
It was a little slow getting into, but once I got into the groove of the story I was in love. Set in my home state, Colorado, I enjoyed all the little nods to the culture here. The Colorado countryside is what drew me into this story. It’s always fun to read about places you’ve been/lived in and this was no different.
I loved the characters and the slow burn - with no spice - romance. The romantic pairing in this book is adorable. I think my favorite character was probably Callie, but I adore Micah, Grace, and Caden too. I love how much of an old soul Callie is.
And then there was the sheep. Always a great comedic relief and sometimes causing trouble, the sheep were such a great way to watch Grace and Micah grow.
Not to mention all the descriptions that had my nose playing tricks on me. I really felt like I had some lavender nearby.
Overall a really sweet book that felt like I was out in the country.
This may be Alyssa Schwarz’s best book yet. With a beautiful Colorado setting, complex character development and twisting plot- it did not disappoint with intrigue.
Four different characters find love and friendship on a sheep ranch. Dreams of starting over, climbing up the corporate ladder, finding direction in life and starting up a small business that encapsulates a long held passion can all be found in this book. The reader has every opportunity to live through Grace’s desire to earn a job well done, Micha’s drive to fight for what he loves, Caleb’s care-free wandering soul, and Callie’s endearing enthusiasm for all the little blessings in life that are all around.
This sweet tale had me laughing and wistfully smiling as enemies became friends and even more in the midst of struggle and mystery. Alyssa Schwarz has crafted a beautiful story not only of love but also that of thankfulness and joy in the midst of any circumstance- even dire ones.
If you love sweet, clean romances to sweep you off your feet, I'd highly recommend this book. There are fun, relatable characters that you will fall in love with (I, for one, fell in love with Callie almost immediately. I kind of aspire to be her right now). There are also elements of faith woven through the story. Combine all of that with a little suspense, add in some sheep and a few bees, and you've got yourself the recipe for a wonderful romance.
I will admit, it took me a long time to get into the story. I was a little bored at the beginning, but as I started reading further, the more I had to know what would happen to the characters.
I had received a complimentary copy of the book and this is my honest review.
Such a beautiful story line, with relatable characters. I loved hearing about the rural farm life where the characters live. The story is so descriptive that you can picture the ranch, houses and surrounding area - which is really nice because I have no idea what Colorado is like at all aside from internet photos so it painted a lovely picture. It feels like your there alongside the characters, I couldn’t wait to see what happened!!!
This is a beautifully written clean romance with themes of friendship, love, second chances, country and ranch life, sad that it’s last in the series but it’s a great ending to it.
This book was such a sweet read. Schwarz did a great job with the characters, and the fact that it’s a double romance was so much fun. You’ve got to love Caden and Callie, who tend to lighten the mood, but aren’t lacking in depth either. And of course, Micah with his rough exterior, and Grace who you just love right away. If you love sweet romances, cozy Hallmark stories, sheep, mountains, flowers, and friendship, you’ll love this book.
I was provided a free copy of this book in order to offer my review, but my opinions are all my own.
I enjoyed following Grace and Micah’s relationship. From where it started until the last page. The characters are great. The growth and patience each character portrayed was really inspirational. I really liked the sheep ranch. It was interesting learning about life with sheep. Callie and her crafts, bees and teas were also fun to read about. This is a sweet inspirational romance and a side of mystery. I highly recommend picking up this book! You are sure to enjoy it!
*I received an advanced complimentary copy from the author. All opinions are my own and I was not required to provide a positive review.
With heart, humor, and hope, Schwarz spins a tale of relatably flawed characters working to not only save their beautiful land but salvage their own hearts as well. Perfect for fans of inspirational romantic fiction, Fields of Glass reminds readers that redemption is always reaching for us and that the truest victory is often surrender.
This book was truly amazing. The setting made me want to go there. Mikah and Grace were such strong unforgettable characters. The plot had just the right amount of turns and twists in it. The writing was spot on.
