The finale of the Elemental Covenant series.

Everything comes to an end.

Brigid Connor is a vampire familiar with ghosts. The ghosts of her past, the ghosts of her victims, and the ghosts of those she couldn’t save. Now in the wilds of America’s most remote frontier, she’ll face a specter who has haunted her steps, a fire vampire with a baffling connection to Brigid’s mate, her clan, and those she holds most dear.

Tenzin is an immortal who has lived a hundred lives. She’s been a daughter, a sister, a villain, and a hero. With every millennium, she has evolved, cutting ties with the past and moving forward with relentless focus, a survivor among the fiercest predators in history.

But history has a way of finding those who flee from it.

Tin God by Elizabeth Hunter
Elemental Legacy series #7. Elemental Covenant series #5, conclusion. Vampires and immortals mysteries, bordering on horror in the name of the victims. Best to have read some of each series to appreciate this conclusion.
Brigid is a firefighter vampire and is tired of the deaths of family and close friends that have been killed in the name of Temur. She travels to Alaska to kill Zasha and put an end to the cycle.
Tenzin is an immortal, thousand of years old. She is a survivor. She travels to the Alaskan wilds to help Brigid stop the killer.
Carwyn and Ben can’t let their mates do this without them.
Everything comes to an end.

Vengeance, retribution, loyalty and power. It’s bloody. It’s dark. It’s death.

A powerful conclusion for lovers of this vampire universe. Brigid and Carwyn will not disappear but it is the end to their saga. They may visit and pop up in the other parts of the universe.
The Legacy series with Tenzin and Ben continue. And who doesn’t love this couple? She’s definitely off center and has forgotten more lives than she remembers but she’s loving and quirky enough to appreciate.
An Elemental Universe overview map or flowchart with book titles is included at the beginning of this book.

4 stars!

Set within Elizabeth Hunter’s Elemental world, this book is a crossover between the Elemental Covenant series featuring Carwyn and Brigid, and the Elemental Legacy series featuring Ben and Tenzin. It’s an exciting, intriguing and romantic story with mystery and action, and it’s everything that I love about this world!

Being a crossover, this book gives us two couples and four POVs for this latest adventure, and the book begins with Brigid and Tenzin leaving their mates behind to secretly run off to Alaska to track down a dangerous vampire from Tenzin’s past who seems to be targeting them. Being the uber protective vampire males that they are, Carwyn and Ben are furious to be left behind and achingly worried about their mates, and they team up to find their women and help them in their mission.

It's a great set up, and the dynamics are sensational with such unique personalities in play. The mystery storyline is intriguing and well developed and plays out really well as our intrepid hunters cleverly work to figure out who the bad guy is and organise a full-out assault to track them down and take them out.

Even with all of that excitement, this is, at heart, a character-driven story with heartfelt romance. Brigid has been through so much since she was introduced as a drug-addicted human way back in earlier books. Her character development has been great to watch, and hers and Carwyn’s fierce and unwavering love for each other is fun, steamy and beautifully emotional.

Carwyn owed his allegiance to no man, woman, or immortal.
Except one fucking woman who was determined to drive him mad.
Someone had recently described Brigid Connor as “a badger trapped in a barn” and it wasn’t an inaccurate comparison. She was stubborn, destructive, and single-minded. It made her a fierce protector, an absolute firecracker in bed, and one of the best vampires he’d known in a thousand years.
Of course he’d married her.

Ben and Tenzin have a wonderful relationship – she is a thousands-year-old vampire feared throughout their world, and Ben may be a new vampire, but he is more than a match for his mate, and I love how they love each other. And damn, but I’ll never get over grown-up Ben and his vampiric hotness.

I love that though this is one cohesive story, we also get two distinct stories as we see Brigid and Tenzin both confronting their pasts and continuing to learn and grow through their experiences. We also get to see intimate moments between the couples as they are there for each other in all the ways, and I loved seeing them still so beautifully loved-up.

She was a warrior, and he adored her. He’d spend eternity adoring her, and it wouldn’t be anything but what she deserved.

I loved this book. I loved the setting, the romance and the mystery, and loved catching up with these characters that I care so much about. This is a really enjoyable read.

4 stars.

4.5 hearts

Elizabeth Hunter is an author I have enjoyed for more than a decade.  She has many great series.  Her world building is rich and her characters feel authentic.  Although, with some of them it's good they are fictional.

Tin God is a crossover between two series, Elemental Covenant and Elemental Legacy , which is fun having the characters from both series.  It is also the final book in the Elemental Covenant series.  I really enjoyed this series because they did investigating and solved mysteries and I like that.  These are urban fantasy series so I would read the books in order. Also because they are wonderful to read. There is a subtle sense of humor which is fun.

There were more layers and points of view to blend with the crossover.  For the plot, it totally makes sense.  The women sort of left their mates to go solve the problem, and the men were mad.   In a way, the women were trying to protect them from things they felt were their fights.  Each couple has some discussions about how they work better together.

The time apart gave the groups time to do research and figure out what was happening to cause the attacks on boats and vampire / human compounds in remote parts of Alaska.  It wasn't simple, even though vampires in this world have territories.  I think partly because the remote area attracted vampires who don't care about the rules.  However, it was easier to play off the former territory holder, Oleg, against the current one, Katya. There was nice relationship growth and even sexy times for each couple.

Overall, the vampire world is very long lived so there are some complex and tangled histories.  Brigid is younger and also is a force to bringing things into the future with better treatment of all people and species.  All the research. investigations and searching build to the battle at the end.

I found the conclusion to Brigid and Carwyn's series satisfying. I'm sure we will see them in the World as the series with Ben & Tenzin will continue, along with a new series about Oleg.  I'm excited there will be more. We've only begun to untangle Tenzin's past and learn about Ben's capabilities as a vampire.

Woah. If you’ve read any books containing these characters you know how excited you should be for this one! Brigid, Carwyn, Ben AND Tenzin?!? That’s a recipe for some pretty intense moments 👏 As always when Elizabeth writes about a location she has traveled to it is an immersive experience to say the least. I always hear about how large Alaska is but my mind continues to shrink it down. This book really made me realize the vastness and wild terrain it still holds with so many unknown and untouched parts of the wild frontier that is Alaska.

Ok. Enough about the cool local….

This 👏 book 👏 So many amazing moments! And some hard ones too. Thank goodness to book friends and reading buddies that can support you through those moments as you read!!! As many are, I am a huge Benzin fan. Getting to see the ever evolving Tenzin with her New Year’s resolutions will NEVER get old. But something that really hit me with this one, that was just a small moment here and there, is the fact that Ben seems to have just as much mystery that we have yet to discover about him as he still develops his immortality as his mate! Well, maybe not in equal amounts, but enough to keep this Benzin fan engrossed. Seeing Ben’s prickly BFF Brigid team up with Tenzin was a treat. Who else could push someone to become who they are meant to be than Tenzin and her point blank one liners!?! Seeing where Brigid’s story wrapped up was very satisfying!

And Carwyn, he gave me some really enticing goosebumps moments in this one. 😏 I was so pleased to see a different side of him in a few times, nobody can be happy every moment. Not even Carwyn. But nobody can wrap up this much dysfunction and tie it with a red happy bow than Elizabeth Hunter either! So thankful for this ride and to see how the Elemental universe keeps developing. Bring on Oleg!

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review."Tin God" marks the conclusion of the Elemental Covenant series. As a newcomer to the series, I've grown fond of Brigid and Carwyn, and it was bittersweet to witness the series' conclusion. Nevertheless, this is not the final farewell for these characters, as the author has assured their return in subsequent works within the Elemental World. "Tin God" presents a complex and powerful tale encompassing vengeance, the pursuit of power, redemption, and survival.

I'm acquainted with Brigid and Carwyn, but Ben and Tenzin are new characters to me. I enjoyed getting to know them both and look forward to read more about them. They belong to the Elemental Legacy series, which I haven't read yet. However, I intend to do so, as I'm not prepared to depart from the incredible universe that Hunter has crafted. Brigid and Tenzin shared a common goal, prompting them to venture to Alaska alone, intending to protect their partners from the dangers of their shared mission. However, Carwyn and Ben were adamant about not allowing their partners to face this challenge alone. They decided to follow them, providing support in every possible way.

"Tin God" is not a tale for the faint-hearted. The story is dark, yet thrillingly so. The combination of mystery and supernatural elements is compelling. The swift pace of the plot, enriched with drama, action, mystery, and intrigue, held my attention from start to finish. The author certainly has a knack for crafting a story that captivates the reader.

If you've never visited Alaska, reading Tin God will leave you feeling as though you've spent a holiday there. Personally, I felt immersed in the world of the Elementals in the midst of the danger, intrigue and action.

This thrilling finale will captivate readers who enjoy fantasy and paranormal stories with a darker edge. Combined with intricate characters and rich world-building, Tin God promises to hold readers' attention from beginning to end. This review was originally posted on Totally Addicted to Reading

This final book in the Elemental Covenant series was everything you could want or hope for! We have 2 of our favorite couples coming together to against a common enemy.
There were so many different pieces and parts all working both individually and together to figure out exactly who was doing what and where they were. It was almost like two separate stories going at the same time and then coming together.
It was one of the most interesting stories I’ve read and it brought out so many thoughts and emotions!! I was truly consumed by this book and couldn’t stop reading but at the same time didn’t want to get to the end!! I have truly loved this series and although I know we will still see Carwyn and Brigid again, I hate for their series to come to a close. I look forward to us getting to see them in future Elemental books and as always can’t wait for more Ben and Tenzin adventures!!

I’ve been a little desperate for Tin God ever since we first got hints in Paladin’s Kiss about how the villain might actually be connected to Tenzin’s past. I mean, generally speaking, when a character’s past is “extremely murdered, dead and buried several millennia ago,” I feel safe assuming it’s not going to become a present-day plot point. (One should never assume things going into an Elizabeth Hunter book.)

There’s a lot to love in Tin God:
1) It’s a crossover with the Elemental Legacy series, bringing four of my favorite characters – Brigid, Carwyn, Ben and Tenzin – together (sort of) for the finale of the Elemental Covenant series. Four POV characters in one book is a lot, but I felt this book struck a good balance of page time and pacing.
2) Everyone is SO ANGRY in this book. Like, deliciously grumpy. I’m probably a horrible person for loving the drama as much as I do, but yes please, there is nothing like watching the usually-sunshiney characters finally lose it. We’ve got two characters with a combined 12 books of only partially resolved trauma deciding that the best way to handle it is to [check notes] run away from the people who love them into the dark, vampire-infested wilds of wintertime Alaska, which goes over about as well as you might expect.
3) The descriptions of Alaska. Dark and vampire-infested it might be, but I still want to go there.
4) Zasha. I have found them to be an absolutely delightful villain, absolutely solidly unhinged, 10/10, only ever wish they had more on-page time.

There’s not a lot else I feel like I can say without getting too far into spoilers, but I really enjoyed how this story wrapped things up for Brigid and Carwyn (I feel like they’ve definitely earned some downtime) while gently setting up threads for future Elemental Legacy books. It’s also been fun seeing more of Oleg, who – rumor has it – will have a series of his own in the future.

That all being said, technically yes, you can jump into the series here…but this is the kind of story that is at its richest in the context of the rest of the series; in so many ways it’s a long-awaited turning point for both Tenzin and Brigid’s character arcs.

Without any reservation, I absolutely adored this book! Every single word, sentence, paragraph, etc. There is not one thing I would change.

I wasn't Brigid's biggest fan, not because of who she is, but because I adore Carwyn and thought she was too serious and rigid for him. I accepted his immense love for her, but was still salty about her. With each book in this series, she grew on me, and I learned (and accepted) why Carwyn loved her so deeply. She is his perfect match in every way. I desperately hope we get to see them again, in their happily ever after.

Adding Tenzin and Ben was amazing. It was nice to see them on the same team, finding their opponents outside of each other, while keeping some of their usual banter. I definitely enjoyed seeing Ben and Carwyn trying to work together for the first time since Ben was turned, and Carwyn having to remember that this isn't his little nephew anymore.

Without divulging any spoilers, there are a few scenes added that were completely unexpected. They were so delicious, I couldn't see the story come together without them. They added the icing to the cake of this ever evolving world.

As per usual, everyone needs to read this! Even if you haven't read the previous 4 in the Elemental Covenant, grab this one... then read the 1st four, because you'll desperately want to!!

I feel like I should’ve enjoyed this more than I actually did. I usually LOVE EH’s stories but this one felt a little forced. I did this one on audio so maybe it was the narrator, or maybe it had been too long since I was immersed in the world again, but the story became a little convoluted and probably could’ve been edited down a bit more. A lot of the same scenes and I didn’t feel the plot loved g the same pace as the other books. 3.5 because I love tenzin and Ben and I die on that hill. But this wasn’t my favorite, unfortunately.

Tin God was exciting and almost bittersweet. You can definitely tell this series focusing on Carwyn and Brigid is drawing to a close. I am sure we will see Carwyn and Brigid in cameo appearances as the Elemental Universe continues, but their large story arc has drawn to a most satisfying ending. I am glad to know that Tenzin is nowhere near finished. She is such a multi-dimensional character who is not only deadly but charmingly humorous (she likes shiny things) as she defeats all the bad guys. I love how this diminutive character terrorizes all the big bad guys.

This series concludes the ongoing cat-and-mouse game Zasha has been pursuing with Brigid for this series. Zasha is a completely amoral character; however, we learn more about the reason why Zasha is this way. All in all, we met some new characters, got to know some others better (and I have a feeling we will be seeing them again), and saw some we were really wanting to know what happened. I can only imagine what Elizabeth has in store for us with the Elemental Universe to come. This book, like the others, has a medium pace that keeps you engaged with the characters; the action scenes with these elemental vampires are so well thought out, and how they use their elements is crazy fun. Carwyn is terrifyingly cuddly, Brigid is a prickly wee vampire, Tenzin is Tenzin, and Ben is frustrated with and adorably patient with Tenzin.

You cannot go wrong with Tin God. You can read it stand-alone or as part of the series. Either way, you will enjoy and be excited. Elizabeth does her settings so well that, whether in Ethiopia or Alaska, you feel like you are there. So visit Alaska (feeling very cold and wet) and join Carwyn and Brigid on this high-stakes elemental adventure.

Thank you, Elizabeth Hunter, for the eArc in exchange for my honest review.

The culmination of this part of the series was perfect. I feel sad to see it come to a close.

I absolutely adore Carwyn and Brigid is perfect for him. Her fiery personality and his steadfast love and bullheadedness were the perfect matching. I have enjoyed their adventures throughout the series and this one is no different. The fact that we got four different POV‘s was amazing. It’s never been a secret that Ben and Tenzin are my favorite couple ever and they added the right amount of sass and fierceness to this story.

If you have made it this far in the series, also love these characters so I won’t go on and on about how amazing they were… Even though they are amazing lol. We finally get the big showdown with Zasha. I really enjoyed hearing the backstory on why they are the way they are or at least partially why they are like that. Seeing how the gang dealt with all the issues that arose was amazing. Somehow this author is able to keep each characters personality fluid, yet unique and true to character, they feel so real. I really felt like brigade came into her own in this book.

I’m not sure how good this review is but just know the book is amazing. I highly recommend it and now I will be reading the entire series over again.

This was such a wonderful closure to the Elemental Covenant series! Brigid has grown so much from the beginning where she was a victim into a very strong well liked immortal dead set on helping humanity!
In this finale Katya and Oleg have to come to a compromise to allow Brigid and Tenzin to confront Zasha. After a few fires that rile friends up and need to be put out an epic battle commences in the Alaska wilderness and you won’t know who wins unless you read ahead!

It was always going to be an emotional ride to the end of this Elemental Covenant series but this was a masterpiece of vampiric storyline endings.
With the way that Bishops Flight ended the excitement of knowing that Tenzin was going to have to account for earlier actions, Ben would therefore naturally be involved plus the force of Brigid & Carwyn in the mix it was never going to be boring.
The execution of the reveals & the emotional twists were pure brilliance.
I love all of these characters so it would have been easy to rush to the end but the suspense was there to the final chapters. Oleg is going to be very interesting in the future and I know that Carwyn & Brigid will feature in other books. Benzin is as strong as ever with some very interesting developments in their powers.
I can say no more as I wouldn’t want to spoil the flow for other readers & it is such a pleasure to read something this good featuring many of your favourites.

Oh wow! I have no words! This was absolutely amazing! 4 of my fave characters in one book, from all of their points of view!

I love Bridget. She has a big heart and deserves love... more than she'll ever realise or acknowledge. Carwyn will continue to show her, and I love him for it. He's always been a great character and continues to be. He lives up to our expectations.
Ben is turning into an awesome and powerful vampire.. did we expect anything less from him.. no! He has Tenzin with him, and she is a force to reckon with. Her literal thinking and the way Ben handles her will have you smiling a big goofy grin. We all saw it happening way back when he got home from being stuck on that ship.. they were always gonna be mated vampires.

The four of them working together.. just blooming brilliant, and you won't want it to end.. although you do, cos you want them to deliver justice to Zasha!
It is awesomely written as always and hard to put down and adult. EH delievers a story perfectly every time. Thank you.

I was lucky enough to be gifted this book, and I am writing an honest review. Thank you.

The Elemental Covenant series is just another fantastic snapshot of the wonderfully fun Elemental World created by Elizabeth Hunter.

Tin God is the final chapter in this spin-off and quite a finale it is. We get plenty of Carwyn and Bridgit, new adventures, old mysteries and loads of cameos. Tin God is an awesome read that will delight paranormal romance and urban fantasy fans alike. I really don’t want to spoil a single second of it, just know you’ll get it all, love, smex, battles, blood, friendships and much more.

I am also so glad we get Tenzin and Ben’s POVs here. Elizabeth Hunter is bringing back more of their adventures next and I’m thrilled, they are my favorite characters :)

All in all, Tin God is the end and the beginning. A chapter is closing but all these characters lives are still going ‘till eternity and I cannot wait for more adventures and to get glimpses of Bridgit and Carwyn ;)

I let too much time lapse and can’t remember my feelings for the end of this vampire mystery series. I was let down because I wanted more, but overall I think I liked it. Looks like this one will need a reread sometime in the future.

This cross over of these four characters was genius. Along with the feeling of actually being in Alaska because the description of the place and its vastness made my mind boggle. The authentic feel to people’s of the area was interesting.
We saw more of Tenzins mysterious past and also her struggles with the New Year’s resolutions she has endeavoured to keep working on. Some parts of this book made me feel emotional 🥹 because reasons. Carwyn and Briget are so sweet together it’s beautiful the way they love each other.
All in all you need this book. Read it. I loved it.

From the moment I was shown an animated version of the cover for this book, I was blown away by it. And that feeling just continued as I read the final story in the Elemental Covenant series.
There is also a crossover of characters and storyline from the Elemental Legacy series.
There are also links back to the Elemental Mysteries, Elemental World and The Bronze Blade. So yes I'm telling you that if you haven't already done so, you need to go online for the full reading order and devour everything Elemental. This has long been my favourite vampire world, and now I would say it's in my top two fictional worlds ever.
Tin God brings together all the threads in the previous Covenant stories and ties them together with memories from history, leading to a cataclysmic battle on two fronts.
It brings together Brigid, Ben and Tenzin, and sees all of them grow into their huge potential. Carwyn is there too, but he couldn't be any more perfect already.

My journey through Elizabeth Hunter’s elemental vampire world began with a book I stumbled upon in my local library’s online selections, “A Hidden Fire.” I was caught up in a well thought out human and vampire world with rich, intriguing characters. That is where I first met the burly, joyful, loving earth vampire, Carwyn: the priest for a thousand years, the caregiver, the friend, the lover and mate, the Hawaiian shirt lover no matter how garish. He has been a steady figure throughout many of the books. In “Tin God”, we see an angry, hurt vampire as his wife/mate, fire vampire Brigid, has left him to search for Zasha, the fire vampire causing havoc, now cutting a swath through the Pacific Northwest, especially Alaska. Elizabeth Hunter never fails to incorporate where the vampires are as another character in the story. Each location is chosen with a purpose in relation to the story and becomes an important part of the story. We can see in our mind’s eye the beauty and expanse of this American state. We can almost feel the cold wind on our cheeks and the moisture in the air as we fly with Ben and Tenzin or walk the earth with Carwyn and Brigid. This Elemental Covenant series has been dedicated to Carwyn and Brigid and their quest to find the lost, help the hurt, and serve justice when they can. Now, Zasha has upped the ante to draw not only Brigid but Tenzin into the fray, plotting against Tenzin for a long ago transgression. Where Tenzin goes, Ben follows. So we have these four set to get to the bottom of Zasha’s plans and to find the vampires who are attacking remote human/vampire settlements in the remote areas of Alaska. This story shows us the best of Brigid as she comes to understand the complexities of her fire element. It is always interesting to be given a glimpse of Tenzin’s past, especially when that past has impacted the present and is affecting so many. Tenzin sees her word is her bond. It has been great to see her character grow and change especially since she mated with Ben. “Tin God” is a page turning, roller coaster ride and an excellent finale to the Elemental Covenant series starring Carwyn and Brigid. This story contains a lot of action and suspense, a lot of vampires—some familiar and some new, elements colliding, burning and splashing, and last but not least, scorching, incredibly sexy moments between mated pairs. Elizabeth Hunter has done it again with this addition to her paranormal vampire universe. Definitely recommended for lovers of the genre and fans of Ms. Hunter.

Carwyn and Brigid bow out with a bang

This is the fifth and final instalment of Elizabeth Hunter’s wildly successful spin-off series Elemental Covenant. When I found out that it would not only feature Carwyn and Brigid, but also my other favorite vampire power couple, Ben and Tenzin, I was elated.

A villain that managed to escape during one of Brigid’s earlier cases has come back to haunt her. They are targeting shipping vessels and small vampire-human communities in the far North of the continent and Brigid has made a deal with Katya, the VIC (vampire in charge) of the Pacific Northwest so that she can go up there and investigate. But since she is a bit afraid that she might not survive this confrontation, she has ditched Carwyn.
Meanwhile Tenzin gets the inkling that the problem Brigid is dealing with might be connected to something she has done in the past, so she decides to shake up things and go help Brigid (naturally without telling Ben what she is planning…)

I found it kind of refreshing – if no less irritating – when these two bad-ass women in a reversal of gender roles decide to leave their men behind (in order to protect them) while they go on their dangerous quest. Brigid mostly because she is afraid of the tenuous control she has over her element, fire, and that she could inadvertently hurt Carwyn, though he is an ancient vampire, not without power of his own. And Tenzin is very, very afraid of losing Ben as she has lost so many people dear to her before, though the circumstances of his making have made him unexpectedly powerful.

I also like how the question of guilt and blame was not purely black and white, but that we came to understand the villain and where they were coming from. That is not to say that a difficult life and past tragedy are an excuse for one’s actions, but the realization that even well-meaning actions can have disastrous consequences for other people.

Other strands in this tale include how Brigid gets help from an unexpected quarter to learn how to handle her element, and a conspiracy to establish a vampire oligarchy (as if human oligarchies weren’t bad enough).

Once again Elizabeth Hunter manages to hit that sweet spot with her trademark mix of vampire/detective story that is fast-paced, imaginative and utterly engrossing, while also delivering on the passion front. Let’s just say sparks fly when the two men finally catch up to their women…

A wild and enjoyable trip…

I loved Elizabeth Hunter’s Cambio Springs series, and have now started reading and enjoying some of her Elemental Universe books. So when I got a chance to skip to the most recent Elemental book, via a review copy of Tin God, I jumped on it.

Tin God is described as a crossover between Hunter’s Elemental Covenant and Elemental Legacy series, and also as the last in the Elemental Covenant series. As such, it definitely has the sweeping feel of a final book, with the ramifications of things that took place eons ago finally getting worked out. Although it was harsh, the resolution wrapped things up in a way that felt right. And I also enjoyed the crossover concept: seeing four protagonists from two different series, with very different personalities and skills, work together added a lot to the story.

Tin God also has delightful smaller moments scattered throughout, though, such as the scene about half-way through, in which Brigid, Tenzin, and Lee are trying to be detectives - to figure out which boat, out of the myriads of boats on their computer screen, might be the one with the bad guys on it. I tend to read more mysteries than fantasy, and I felt happily at home as they bickered half-heartedly, while looking more-or-less logically for an answer.

Although I have only read a few other Elemental books thus far, Hunter does a nice job of setting the scene for Tin God via the prologue, and also provides bits of background throughout the book when needed. And the chart at the front of the book, detailing the various Elemental series helped too. Still, I’m actually looking forward to rereading Tin God sometime again in the future, when I’ve caught up with more of the earlier Elemental books. I have a feeling that I may have missed a few things along the way. But, even as a semi-standalone, as it was for me, Tin God was a wild and enjoyable trip, and well worth reading late into the night.

And finally, my thanks to the author for the review copy!

What can I say other than I love this series? To top it off, this book wraps up a couple of story arcs and features 2 of our favorite couples from the series - well, specifically MY favorite couple and another couple that many people enjoy. So it's like a two-fer :)

During the last few books featuring Tenzin and Ben, we have been seeing Tenzin "evolve" as she begins to regain a bit of her humanity after mating with Ben. The two of them are probably one of the most unlikely pairs in this genre, yet I adore them tremendously. Tenzin is a one of a kind character in the fact that she is so old - thousands of years old - that she almost has sociopathic tendencies where she watches people and knows what types of reactions she should have, yet most of the time she just doesn't care. ....unless it involves Ben and/or his opinion of her. I really can't explain it, but watching her grow has been such a fun journey.

Then there is Brigid and Carwin. For whatever reason, I've had a problem liking Brigid from the beginning, but I've found myself softening towards her in recent books. There is actually an Author's Note at the end of this book that talks about Brigid being a difficult character for some people and I actually felt seen in this because I thought I was the only one who had a hard time liking her. Imagine that?

Anyway, this book is the finale in a couple of issues that have taken place over the last couple of books so it is not really a stand alone. Yes, I'm sure you could follow along, but why would you want to when it is so fun to understand and follow along with this incredible group of vampires?

I was sad when the book ended, but in the same note from Ms. Hunter, she lets us know that this is not the end. Our favorite characters are going to be popping up sooner rather than later - so that is a definite "yay" from me.

Enjoyed this one quite a bit and I will definitely be on the look out for what ever is coming next.

A fantastic blend of mystery & the supernatural, Tin God is the culmination of two series - the Elemental Covenant series featuring earth vampire Carwyn and and fire vampire Brigid. Carwyn, a millennia old, former priest with a penchant for lurid Hawaiian shirts and Brigid, an Irish heroin addict and baby at the tender age of ten in vampire years and the Elemental Legacy series based on the adventures of Tenzin and Ben, two mated wind vampires. and similar to the other two age wise with Ben being the relatively new vamp. Now Tenzin’s past has come back to haunt her and bringing Brigid to the attention of the suitably evil villain in the form of Zasha Sokholov.

The plot was fast paced story filled with intrigue, drama, action and hidden agendas. I was absorbed from the prologue as pieces of the underlying plot that had been building in the background throughout both series were woven together, twisting and turning before reaching a suitably dramatic climax on two fronts. And chef’s kiss to the author whose style of writing and way of depicting scenes is so evocative it’s almost as if you can close your eyes and be transported to the isolated, shadowy tundras of Alaska. The four main characters make for phenomenal mystery solving duos with some fantastic dialogue between them and a few moments that had me chuckling especially when Tenzin took everything anyone said at face value. But for me this book was about Tenzin coming to terms with her past and Brigid and to an extent Ben fully accepting their burgeoning powers and becoming forces to be reckoned with. Only then will they be able to defeat the villain with the aid of the strong cast of secondary characters all of whom brought something to the story and I enjoyed seeing Summer settled in her new life

When I read that this would be a crossover with Carwyn & Brigid and Ben & Tenzin. Mind was blown! I happy danced two of my all favourite couples in one book it just had to be awesome right? Personally it was different what I wanted it to be. But I’ll get to that later.

Tenzin made a promise and she keeps her promises however convoluted that promise may be. But fast forward a thousand years and you have a recipe for disaster. Revenge is on the horizon and Brigid and Carwyn are suffering for it. And the root of the problem? Tenzin made a promise.

Over the past books in this series Zasha Sokholov has become a major problem for Brigid and Carwyn but now is the time to stop it all. Fire against fire. Where better then Alaska. Brigid is trying to do the right thing and leaves her one constant behind. Carwyn but without him she can’t do it. For Brigid to succeed she needs to understand her element better. It protects her but can also be very useful and as she has hit the average life for a fire vampire it looks like she is going to have a long life. There are epic fighting battles be it with their elemental magic or swords and guns.

If you read/follow my reviews you will especially know that I have immense love, appreciation and respect for Ms. Hunter. Her world building is outstanding and she can do no wrong. You can really tell that she did her homework when going to Alaska for research on this book. She exceeds herself every time. The stark beauty of Alaska was captured in its entirety as well as the little nuances. It makes me want to book a direct flight there even if it is bloody cold and dark.

We are now at the later part of my review.
What I had some minor issues with is that the book could easily have been 50 pages shorter. There was too much hunting around for Henri Paulson. Going to Juneau could have been skipped. Katja constantly trying to blame Oleg and vice versa was mentioned one too many times and could have ended sooner. I don’t know who I love and adore more Brigid & Carwyn or Ben & Tenzin. But I didn’t like them together here. I never remembered there being so much animosity between Carwyn and Tenzin in Gio and Beatrice’s books. The pace could have been tightened more it unfortunately at times waned

Finally the last note of my review is Brigid. She is the sister of my soul. I have understood here. I have rooted for her and cried for her. Yup, fictional I know but I don’t care. From what I have read in the acknowledgements Brigid hasn’t always been liked. Yes she can be abrasive but she has a heart of gold and a well of empathy.

The best news is that we are getting a book with Oleg Sokolov and hopefully he will be paired with Katja. Fingers crossed.

Tin God is the conclusion to the Elemental Covenant series. Elizabeth Hunter has several series in the same world; this one, Elemental Mysteries, Elemental World, and Elemental Legacy. These are all set in a world where vampires secretly exist, and control one of four elements: earth, water, air or fire.

Each series highlights the story of two particular characters in the Elemental world. There’s a large ensemble cast with a lot of fun characters, and while the romance is a part of the story, there’s also usually a good, action packed plot taking center stage. We’ve got Tenzin, an ancient vampire in young woman’s body, obsessed with tracking down ancient antiquities. And then there’s Giovanni and Beatrice, in love with books and ancient manuscripts and libraries. And Carwyn, the thousand year old vampire who’s spent his long life as a Catholic priest.

These books are what I like to call dessert books, and you’ve probably seen me use this analogy before. Dessert books often get a 3.5 star rating from me, and that’s not a bad rating! It means I enjoyed it and reading it was a great way to pass the time; I’ll definitely read anything else that comes out in the series, but it’s not something that’s going to be living rent free in my head for the next several weeks, if that makes sense. Just like chocolate cake it’s a great fluffy treat, but not something I’d pick if I needed a filling meal.

If you want a fast read with a little action, a little romance, a well written modern world with vampires in it (honestly the world building here is fantastic and part of why I enjoy these books), check out any of the Elemental series by Elizabeth Hunter.

Teamwork makes the dream work!

Tin God is a crossover book that continues the storyline from the Elizabeth Hunter’s Elemental Legacy series, while concluding her Elemental Covenant series. Vampire menace, Zasha Sokholov has been running amuck and leaving a trail of blood and ashes across the pages of the last few books in both series. Now, in Tin God, the “Fantastic Four” (Carwyn, Brigid, Tenzin and Ben) head to the wilderness of Alaska for a hunt for the ages. Along the way, they get an assist or two from Oleg and Katya (when they can stop accusing each other of dastardly deeds and land grabs), and our favorite kilt-wearing vampire, Gavin who is beyond furious when an unexpected event threatens his still-very-human wife.

Tin God features a few other characters we’ve met in past books, some new hero-ish vampires, (because we all know they walk that line), and a few vampires and humans that have chosen to 100% bat for the dark side. All of this makes for an exciting ride with awesome scenery and a satisfying conclusion.

But fear not ye Hunters of the Haven! There's already another Benzin book in the works. And, I’ve heard that cameos from Carwyn and Brigid are definitely in our future.

I had an opportunity to read an advanced copy of Tin God in exchange for an honest review.

This book was so bittersweet for me. I love all these characters so much, and Carwyn and Brigid have been so beautiful to read.

In their final book Brigid has gone out on her own to try and track down the vampire responsible for so many deaths. This, of course, has made Carwyn absolutely furious to be left behind. With Tenzin following behind Brigid, Ben is right there with the furious as well. I really enjoyed seeing the new pairings this created. Brigid and Tenzin, and Carwyn and Ben, are now each following different leads in this case. Seeing how they each saw the other and how they worked together was both fun and unexpected.

With a trail of death through vampire communities in Alaska, the two rulers in the area are blaming each other. But as impartial investigators, our crew believes there’s a much bigger plot and other nefarious villains behind it all.

Elizabeth Hunter is an absolute master at keeping me guessing at these mysteries. Even once the group reunited and consolidated their respective clues, there was just so much more going on than I thought.

The end came, after an epic battle scene worthy of all these kickbutt characters, and some seriously tear jerking moments. I was left both satisfied and happy, but still sad that it came to an end. There will always be a place in my booklover heart for Carwyn and Brigid, and I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of rereading their stories.

What a fanatic way to wrap up Brigid and Carwyn’s series! I’ll admit that the Elemental Covenant was the slowest to pull me in when compared to the other elemental series - but my goodness that slow build up of watching these incredible personal growth stories has led to an EPIC result. I excitedly squealed (out loud, more than once) reading scenes with Ben & Tenzin because they play a large role in this story as well. This action-filled mystery plot is sprinkled with the light humour we’ve come to expect when reading about Elizabeth Hunter’s characters (especially Tenzin) and we get to witness the intense love and mutual adoration in both of these couples. Having been given an early copy of the book, I’m so pleased to be able to report that it has left me with such a happy heart despite the struggles our characters endure. I’m even more pleased with the little note to readers at the end which now has me very excited for future books in the Elemental universe. This book was exactly what it needed to be, both to conclude Brigid and Carwyn’s Elemental Covenant series and to further Tenzin and Ben’s Elemental Legacy series. I highly, highly recommend it.
