Austin Dean Men are idiots! Give them even the slightest hint that you will sleep with them, and their brains turn to mush! I use men to get what I want, and why shouldn’t I? I’m 23, charming and have a smoking hot body. It’s not that hard to get a guy hooked. I give them a taste of the fantasy they’re craving, and they give me what I want. It’s a win-win. That is until I met…. him.
William Bolton I’m 40, single, and apparently a workaholic. I decided to take this cruise to prove to everyone that I can relax and have a good time. That is until I spot him… the Boy in the Pink Speedo. He’s gorgeous and sweet and, for some reason… is talking to me. I think I might actually have a shot with this guy! That is until I see him pulling the exact same scam on another poor bloke the very next night! Who does this guy think he is?
It’s time to turn the tables and teach this boy a lesson! Men’s hearts are not for stomping on.

Well, well, well!!!! Find you an author that can do it all!!! I’m used to books from Matthew to be dark thrillers, with possessive men of the Irish underground, when to my surprise we have a super fun and hilarious read in this book!
I laughed so much, everyone needs to read this book of you’re looking for a serotonin boost!! The fun and banter these two men had was so good!!!
William is in his 40’s slight dad bod, on his first Gay Cruise, having been told by everyone that he works to much and needs some ‘me time’, he’s been looking forward to just chilling and relaxing, but then HE shimmied himself out if the pool and that’s when his relaxing holiday become a game of cat and mouse!!
Austin 23, a gay man’s dream, the body, the looks, the charm, knows how to work the room and finds his preys with ease!! He’s always looking for a guy to twist round his finger, when he spots his next target. Little did he realises he was gonna get a run for his money with this one!!!
These two were hilarious, both on a cruise to get away from life’s troubles and ex’s, the pranks the fun, the snark, I loved it all!! This was part of the cruising anthology but has now had words added and I’m here for it!!

I loved the short story of this in the Cruising anthology as it had some funny moments.
Whilst I love Matthew writing within the dark genre, it was a lovely experience to read a more sweet and emotional story from him.
William and Austin have a great dynamic. My favourite part is where they are not exactly getting along in the beginning and I adore William’s humour in teaching Austin a lesson.
They have great interactions and chemistry on page and its just a fun and loveable read that leaves you smiling.
Austin is definitely a don’t judge a book by its cover or behaviour and I enjoyed the depth of his character and what was really happening in his life. I also loved the traditional side to William who wants a loving, deeply connected relationship.
DNF at 17% The rant (nearly all through internal monologue recapping a conversation we’d read part of already) about how “kids these don’t learn cursive how horrible we should give them instructions in cursive and see them fail teeheehee” like just fuck allllllll the way off. WHO DECIDES whether kids learn cursive or not?? Also, it doesn’t fucking matter??!!? literally not at all is cursive a necessary skill anymore. It’s not like anyone is stopping people from learning, it’s not a conspiracy, you’re the ones not teaching it so stop trying to shame kids for not knowing it, why would you want to do go out of your way to fuck over kids/younger generations, they/we just go to youtube anyway tbh because of attitudes like this. it really sounded like feelings author needed to get off their chest because yikes complaining about kids this much is stupid, if anyone (minor(?) character) hates their job teaching to the point all they can say is they want to “see kids mouths shut” then don’t fucking teach. go quit. Get away from kids so someone who actually gives a shit about the job and the students can step in. Kids are tough, duh, but they’re probably worse for you because they’re reflecting your shitty, condescending, outdated attitude
Author could have shown MC as old fashioned/boomer without this whole rant that brought the character from dull to actively unlikeable. Except, no, they couldn’t, because it just highlights the main problem with the writing—it’s massively overwritten. Author needs to make friends with the delete button because ffs the repetition was out of control. No one needs to say the same thing in 5 different ways in the same chapter—especially when we just read in the last chapter (and chapters before that) about MC being a workaholic who works too much and spends too much time at work with 60 hour workweeks and he doesn’t have real relationships because he spends so much time working instead of with people he sort of dates but they were never really relationships he cared about because he’s always cared more about work…. If that was annoying to read, don’t even try to read this book. seriously just don’t; I wish I hadn’t, my blood pressure is high enough without more frustration
This was actually the second book I tried from this author. tbh not a fucking clue why I tried again, because I DNF’d the other book for the same reason of aggressive repetition that bored me until it got so shitting irritating. It also made the pacing excruciating to where I only got about 24 in-story-hours along but it felt like sooo much longer. The premise should have been fun but the writing voided it (can’t even call it a “writing style” when what should be stylistic choices are clearly just the author not wanting to delete a single sentence). If the repetition was cut down by (even just) a third, the book would half as long but twice as readable. This is a message to myself to remember: do Not read from this author anymore
Been on a bit of a roll lately, so many wonderful reads, and this one joins that list, such a sweet, fun tale. A young man in his twenties and a man in his forties both go on a Gay Cruise, young Austin manages to con meals and drinks out of unsuspecting men, including William. But William soon sees this and sets out to spoil the con artists game. And that is how bedlam and hilarity ensues, along with some hurt feelings too.
William Bolton is in his forties, has a dad bod, a workaholic, and stays to himself. He socializes but it’s what he perceives as the required time to spend with friends and family. He really loves his job in mergers and acquisitions. He finally makes the decision to take a cruise.
Austin Dean is twenty-three, just broke up with his so called boyfriend and left with no home. It’s really left Austin with a revenge type complex. But he’s determined to make up for lost time on board a cruise ship. He spends his time on board the ship making himself very noticeable, wearing a pink speedo, that catches everyones eye.
William just want’s to try and find someone that he can enjoy his time with. He doesn’t play games. One night alone at dinner he meets Austin and he thinks Austin could be the one. He never hears from Austin again, although he still sees him on board the ship playing up to anyone who gives him attention.
Alone at dinner one night he hears a voice at another table running the same spiel he heard from Austin. Of course, it’s Austin with someone else. William is upset hearing Austin running the same scam on someone else. He decides to get a little bit of revenge.
And the battle of pranks begins!! Do William and Austin cross a line and take it all too far or is it just for fun?
Matthew Dante creates a fun and humorous tale of enemies to lovers about Austin and William, two very opposite men. It’s an interesting look at how far joking and pranking can be taken. Just maybe a little bit of caution has to be used before feelings get hurt. I don’t want to make this to serious but I can understand why Austin was doing what he did. The battle is a challenge to both men and they really give it their all to outdo each other.
I have to give lot’s of props to Matthew Dante for this fun tale and creative pranks. He knows how to get readers caught up in the pranks. When you think the battle is over, he actually pranks readers again and again.
Matthew Dante brings a fun time for all with “The Devil Wears Pink”. It’s a fun romp on the high seas, filled with snarky banter and silly pranks and not to be taken all too seriously.
This gorgeous extended addition of the novella originally included in the Cruising Anthology gives us some spicy new details about both characters that I think everyone who has read the novella will appreciate 🥰 Austin and Will cruise into the picture perfect romance, with a beautiful evening they share, seemingly chancing upon each other serendipitously. However, when Will tries to pursue the gorgeous young man captivating his mind, he quickly finds out he is just one of many targets Austin uses to enhance the luxury experience a gay cruise provides. A ruthless calculating little dwerb, Will's words😁, Austin has no qualms about making up stories and fake identities to get what he wants. 😎 When his schemes are exposed by Will, a hilarious game of cat and mouse begins, and let me tell you both sides were ruthless in the most amusing way😁 Through many shenanigans trying to one up each other, the two men grow to like each other.♥️ Austin realises that Will is the real asset and not his financial status but has a hard time communicating his feelings.♥️ his horrible experiences in his youth and the difficult life he has lived have hardened him and he finds it almost impossible to speak from the heart and believe his feelings would be respected and validated 🥺😭 Will knows he is falling for Austin hard but still fears he might be in for another relationship destined to fail. His own disastrous dating history stops him from professing his feelings, fearing Austin might just be in this seeking financial arrangement or ... a different kind of exciting free ride😉 Both of them are afraid of love for a variety of reasons and it takes a leap of fate, or in Austin's case into shark infested waters to show both of them their intentions are serious and their feelings reciprocated ♥️once they got together, these two were just so sweet♥️♥️♥️ The banter, the laughter, the beautiful set up, absolutely loved it♥️♥️♥️
I started following Matthew long before reading one of his books...then I finally started with his Rough Edges series and became completely obsessed lol.
So I was greatly honored by receiving an advanced copy of this beauty. Thank you so much for that Matthew!!
What a treat for me as I never started the Cruising anthology (that this book was previously a short story in) so I'm getting the full version on my first go.
This author's books always have great banter (even the darker ones that have more heavy content) that make me laugh out loud throughout.
The two main characters in this book, Austin and William, that are on the same gay cruise will keep you on your toes wondering what they will do next as they go from flirting to enemies, then frenemies with pranks, and pranks turned into fun and then back to flirting lol.
What I enjoyed most was that even though this story plays out in a short time frame of a cruise, these two mc's really push each others buttons and pull out the best in each other. After all the pranks were said and done, they truly dug deep for an emotional connection and began to trust each other. The author gives us a good background for each mc that really makes you pull for their hea even harder. And a wonderful hea it is!!
So if you're in the mood for a lighter read yet still filled with depth and emotion, great banter, all the flirting and fun in the sun, and let's not forget the famous pink speedos...then I highly recommend.
When I read the description of The Devil Wears Pink, I expected a fun and frothy rom com. And I got that, but so much more. Workaholic Will meets sassy Austin the first night of their cruise. Austin says it’s his birthday, and his boyfriend dumped him. The two share a lovely dinner, a chaste kiss, then Austin disappears. The next night Will hears Austin pull the same story on another passenger, and vows to stop him. Will’s efforts to cockblock Austin’s potential conquests are hilarious, as is Austin’s retaliation. Until one prank goes to far, and ends with Will apologizing and a tentative truce made. I got a kick out of buttoned up forty year-old Will (he of the Dad bod) trying to get the best of younger, devious, pink Speedo clad Austin. And you can’t help but love Austin. Is he a bit much? Of course, but in the best possible way. Impulsive. Attention seeking. With a well-hidden secret squishy center.
“Will saw him, the real Austin. The man hiding behind the pain and loneliness… who just wanted someone to believe in him and love him for who he was .” Will? That’s your cue.
As the author teases out Austin’s backstory, you’ll feel for this flirty little troublemaker. Will and Austin were different, yet kindred spirits. Both had been painfully rejected and felt unworthy. This touches off a brief misunderstanding, and it’s surprising Austin who refuses to give up and make Will listen to him. When they let their guards down, the magic happens. From a horrible beginning, the devil in pink and his demon in bed get their HEA. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Not a fan of Austin's character. He knew his parents were homophobes but he still did the fucking at his house whenever his parents weren't at home. He should knew better so when his parents witnessed him being fucked with his ass in the air, his father threw him out and disown him. Austin was only eighteen yo. Then he started using his good looks and his hot body to gained what he wanted. Katanya punya dignity tp kelakuan malah kebalikannya. Pake ada tambahan sex scenes Austin dengan cowok lain lagi meskipun itu hanya masa lalu sebelum dia kenal William tapi tetap aja nyebelin. Gimana bisa enjoy sama karakter utamanya aja benci.

Oooh wee, Mr Dante!!! Bringing out the spice and… Lordy, Lordy! I need a fan! I’m melting!
This is a very steamy little read, and it’s something I should definitely not be surprised about when it comes to this author. He never disappoints!
So, here’s the gist. William is on vacation and meets Austin. There’s a lot of chemistry I am totally here for. Austin, however, is Mr. Player and uses his charms on someone not William. Cue the boot because I totally kicked his pretty little bottom with it. Yeah, Mr. Dante. That happened.
But it’s all good. This author isn’t going to let that slide. I should totally learn to trust him by now. William is definitely not a lay down and take it kind of man, no sir! He goes after his man. After all, finders keep, right?
Of course, that’s not all that happens. There’s a huge thing that happens that sets these two down a path that’s ablaze.
I loved this book, as I have others written by this author. This is definitely a high recommend for me.
Matthew Dante is a brand new indie author to me, this is my first taste of his writing.
I stumbled across this book on Instagram and it looked like a fun read. I needed to read it and the author kindly sent me a copy.
I have to say this was a short, sweet, sexy and funny read. The storyline timescale is ten days, as it takes place on a gay cruise. The story had depth with emotion, particularly for Austin, i wanted to hug him and offer him love, affection and above all protection from the cruel world.
I really enjoyed this book. The chemistry and banter between Austin and William is funny. Especially with the pair of them pulling pranks on each other and their age gap William 40 and Austin 23.
The book left me wanting more. I feel incomplete, as I want more from Austin and William!
If you're looking for a lighthearted fun read then give this book a go.
💕 I had a great time reading this story and did I ever need the laughs after the day I had. A great mix of comedy, romance and seriousness. Longing, self-deprecation and hope. William may be 40, single and a workaholic, but he’s a real gentleman and an all around nice guy. Austin is young and does he ever get all the attention on the cruise in those pink Speedos. William can’t believe it when he gets the honour of a lovely dinner and evening with the gorgeous man. And what a beautiful evening they have. Their conversation and connection cannot be faked, can it? The best parts of the book are all the ensuing shenanigans when William finds out that Austin was just using him for a free meal and drinks. And oh, William will not let Austin con another soul on that cruise. Each interference is better than the last. I laughed so hard, it was perfect. But the book wouldn’t be complete without delving into the serious reasons why Austin does what he does. The connection that William and Austin felt that first night. The emotions that flow, first from joy to anger to revenge to embarrassment to despair to forgiveness to friendship to love.
This is the most entertaining story I’ve read in a long time. Right from the beginning Austin and William had me laughing. Austin is on a gay cruise when he tries to hustle William. At first it works until William catches him doing the same to someone else. William instead of feeling like a victim decides its get even time and does he ever. The things that happen are way beyond my imagination but so funny that I found myself laughing out loud and getting stared at doing so. The interactions between these two just make it impossible to set the book down. The characters and situations so well described it is easy to picture each event. The author has set the bar high for any stores he writes. I really hated to have it end.
“Austin raised his glass to toast. “To pain in the asses, may we always be fun and welcome.””
Always enjoy Matthew’s steamy books!! The Devil Wears Pink is a fun and flirty stand-alone, and is a great summer read. ☀️
Highlights: 🩷age gap 🩷enemies to lovers 🩷Gay cruise shenanigans 🩷vacation romance 🩷funny pranks 🩷sexy
Austin and William had me cracking up with their pranks. Their hilarious interactions were like foreplay, and I loved every second of it. 🔥🔥
Favorite quote(s): “Who would have guessed that seeing William smile instead of scowl could bring him just as much joy? It made no sense to Austin, either.”
“Holy, Jesus. How was it that such a mild-mannered man was such a demon in bed?”
3.5 Stars. The Devil Wears Pink was a first read for the author for me. William, 40 years, was on gay ship cruise vacation for the next 10 days, relaxing from a workaholic business life. Austin 23 years, yeah he wore a pink speedo and was defiantly trouble. It doesn’t take long for William to have his game figured out. A time jump back to Austin’s younger days tells his story with his homophobic parents.
As the story progresses and their games against each other turn harmful when a prank gets too personal. I wasn’t a fan of William, with participating in their games. Austin had his moments too where things should have stopped.
This had a few laughing moments at the start, but after that it seems silly for them to be playing their pranks instead of getting to know each other. Written with dual povs, I didn’t feel their romance as the games and pranks took over the book.
A̺͆L̺͆L̺͆ A̺͆B̺͆O̺͆A̺͆R̺͆D̺͆ the first ever all Gay Cruise Ship! 🚢 Austin is a hot young hustler who uses his perfect ass around the deck to get the attention of all the hot men to hustle. Until he tries to hustle the wrong Queen.
This was such a fun shorter read! I laughed out loud, I teared up and it warmed my heart. The banter and pranks had me in a permanent smile.

I had so much fun reading this book and it helped to pull me out of a reading slump I slid into earlier this summer.
It was a nice change of pace to read a romantic comedy and lean into lightness and humor compared to the thrillers I’ve read from this author in the past though it was just as entertaining.
It was enjoyable experiencing Austin and William’s outrageous antics as they kept messing with and misunderstanding each other, all while legitimate chemistry and emotional connection was blossoming. I also liked finally reading a gay character in his 40’s that had a personal history instead of being a cutout copy of a stereotype.
Read this if you’d like something humorous and lighthearted with some lingering summer heat.
This was a light and fun enemies to lovers romance with a lot of snarky banter, funny pranks, hot looks and a happy ending. There was depth in both Austin and William so it wasn't all fun and games however their banter and trying to one up each other was a fun passing of my morning while I binged this book. I read this in one sitting because I just wanted to see which prank Austin and William were going to pull on each other next. Low steam but high energy.
William is enjoying his vacation when he is approached by the handsome Austin. He is charmed by the dashing man until he witnesses Austin using his charms on another man. Instead of letting it get to him, William decides to get even and evolves from the mouse to the cat. Austin is left reeling by the attention and slowly starts to fall for the enigmatic man. One decision sets them out on a path that neither had ever expected. Has a game of cat and mouse led them to their forever?
This is my first Matthew Dante read. William and Austin are quite a pair, and I love them both and together. Their story takes place during a gay cruise, which I love. Austin is the apotome of "don't judge a book by it's cover" and William is sweet. I loved Austin's approach to messing with William and his full on determination when he finally realised what he wanted, nothing was standing in his way, not even William. Loved it
A fun, happy-ending rom-com. Dante did a good job of slowly revealing Austin's inner demons and the (debatable) justification for his wicked ways. Lucky for him William, who had given up on him, and for good reason, finally relents and let's nature take its course.
Everything was going fine until the scene with the eyerollingly and cartoonishly evil dad. DNF It's a shame though; I'd been enjoying the lighthearted narrative until that ridiculous part.
This was a cute read with interesting main characters. There were some funny moments and a happy ending. The happy ending was rushed, but a happy ending nonetheless.
