Esio knows all the rules about travelling to the fae realm: stick to the path, don't say your name, and don't eat any offered food. She is determined to make it to the realm's castle and ask for a wish from the mysterious being who lives there. Unfortunately for her, struggling stockbroker Ted has invited himself along for the dangerous journey.
Incredibly beautiful, captivating art and story that gives just enough information and the perfect amount of mystery to let your mind wander and wonder about the world and what is beyond the frame ✨🌿
This is my first Quindrie Press read and it fully delivered. The story of a young teen going into a "world inbetween" to ask the god in the hill to heal their sickly brother. The story's cute, and we'll written, for what little writing there is. But the star is the world she creates. Absolutely gorgeous art. Kind of gave me some Tillie Walden vibes at times. The world is interesting and mysterious. I think part of the charm is that we only get hints of what's going on, but I want to read so much more stuff set in this world !
I love good art, a physical journey, and likable characters in my comics, and this story has all three. The end leaves me wondering if things work out, but I feel like the point of this story is only to show the reader this one journey. The interaction with the wish-giver also gave me a strong feeling that both Esio's and Ted's stories do work out.
