Pete Can’t Eat is a short picture book that tells the story of Pete, who is a very untidy eater, much to his mother’s angst. The illustrations by Rich Gemmell are colourful, enticing and delightful, and the text is written in rhyme. The book’s message of change and improvement opens up discussions with young readers and listeners, making it an enjoyable and educational read. Having a young granddaughter,I laughed at our shared experience of the dog cleaning up dropped food. Children and adults will enjoy this picture book.
An adorably funny rhyming story about a little boy named Pete who is very messy when he eats. When his mom asks him to clean up after himself, he suddenly realizes what's really important at meal times. This story is very relatable and easy for children to understand. I also love the bright and animated illustrations, and I know children will, too. Recommended.
Fun, classic-style, colourful book that brings a warmth of familiarity for young and old alike. We get to learn a bit about Pete in rhyme, along with a positive lesson at the end. The uplifting finish is inspiring for all of us; the sooner we apply the learning, the better we can become.
The excellent rhymes and beautiful illustrations will immerse readers in this children's book. The book cover grabbed my attention, and I stayed captivated from start to finish. I highly recommend this book to children. Adults will also enjoy a read-through, and I liked the ending.
Everyone who's fed a toddler will relate to this story. Children may be drawn to the rhyming verses. I like the way the word "habit" was highlighted and defined. Illustrations were simple and delightful. Kids would enjoy seeing Pete's dog eat the food he dropped.
Such a catchy, fun, adorable book about making habits!
I love this book! I love how it's illustrated, and I love the words. Most of all, I love the cool lesson! What a great thing to share with your kids. And to teach you a little bit, too :)
Pete can't eat neat is a funny and entertaining story about Pete's sloppy eating habits. At the end, he tries to learn to eat neater. This is a cute, entertaining story. I love the photo contest idea at the end of the book.
Read this with my 3 year old nephew this morning. He thought it was a hilarious good time. And at the end when the mom asked Pete to eat neat he said that he tried to eat neat for his mom too lol!
