“You shouldn’t taste good to me, Scarlett. I shouldn’t know how you taste. Do you know why I shouldn’t know that, kitten?” he says, his eyes narrowed as he stares me down, “Because you married my best friend, my business partner. Dead or alive, I should not be touching you like this, shouldn’t even be looking into your direction, but here I am. F*cking craving you even though you piss me off to no end.” In the dark heart of New York's ruthless mafia underworld, Scarlett Romero , the grieving widow of the revered Romero family Capo, grapples with the shattered remnants of her life following her husband's fatal assassination. Enter Nico Acosta , her late husband's enigmatic best friend and fiercely powerful right-hand man, whose dangerous allure is matched only by his handsome looks. When the heads of the family decree that Nico and Scarlett must unite to lead the Romero empire together, what once brewed as animosity between them now simmers into an inferno of longing they're determined to resist. And with every new encounter, their undeniable chemistry grows. But Nico is guarding many secrets, including one that could destroy his tumultuous relationship with Scarlett—and bring down the entire family in a storm of ruin and retribution. Vow of Sin is an enthralling, dark mafia romance of forbidden love and dangerous desires This is the first book in the new ‘Brutal Empire’ Trilogy from author Callie Vincent.
Loved this book as soon as I started to read it, unfortunately I managed to read it too quickly. Nico is a truly Alpha male with a wonderful dirty mouth that makes him soooooo hot. Scarlett at first seems quite naive, but she learns quickly and soon starts to become the heroine you can truly admire. I truly loved this book but am obviously not happy about it ending on a cliffhanger and having to wait for next book release. Great book, banter really good, plenty of heat, lies and love, what more could you want. Few mishaps with the editing but not worth worrying about still a great book 5 stars 😍
A stunning start to this new suspenseful new Maria series with my favourite trope enemies to lovers. Nico and Scarlett have such amazing chemistry, the times they have got together here are red hot. There are so many lies and secrets between the pair of them that need airing before everything blows up in their faces. Scarlett’s dead husband sounds a real piece of work, she was way to good for him. Love that she’s a tough cookie, finding her feet after having learned some hard truths already Nico exudes BDE, can’t wait for him and Scarlett to really connect in the next book. That cliffhanger, definitely want to find out where we go next.
I really enjoyed this book it was fast paced and the characters were very likability the storyline was very interesting and kept me interested from the beginning will be looking forward to book 2
Mention of the De Luca Italian Mafia within the read. A crossover from the De Luca Series.
A secret held by Nico has now fallen apart.mwill he be his own man? Will the Romero Empire fall? Will it fall into the enemies palms - the De Lucas!
Scarlett, the innocent one in this whole saga. Married to save her from harm but also betrayed by her dead husband Luis.
Even in death one may rule the roost. Luis Romero may be gone but what did he leave behind - lies and Moore lies. With the biggest secret held, Scarlett and Nico are in danger from both crime families. Yes, left with cliffhanger which has you waiting for the conclusion. What will happen to both Scarlett and Nico? Will they be saviours or hunted? Will the biggest secret be a positive or negative within the crime world?
There are questions that will be answered in the next read.
Scarlett was heartbroken because her husband was murdered and was at the funeral to put him to rest her husband. She wanted to step up to run her family empire in New York but the leader decided to have Nico and Scarlett rule the empire. Scarlett and Nico hated each other but were hiding their real feelings. Nico what do anything for his best friend and clean up all of his mess. Nico kept all Luis's secrets to himself especially his 11-year-old boy who was kept hidden. Elena was alive and everyone thought she was dead. Scarlett discovered all her husband's secrets and her emotions were all over the place.
There are two things that bug me so much I only gave it two stars. 1. Why would Scarlett think they would allow her to run the family? And how easy was it that she gave up? 2. Scarlett now knows Elena is alive and yet she STILL goes to see Frankie AND leaves the guards.
I get it it’s a book but it’s so extremely frustrating that most of the authors I’ve read paint these moronic women sheathed in supposed strength.
Otherwise it was a short but ok read and I’ll be awaiting the next book.
I just love Nico❤he is all sin and all man😍🔥! Scarlett listen I can totally relate to you feeling the attraction to Nico. I know that Luis hence your deceased husband would understand. Luis turned out to have a lot of faults. Nico🔥and Scarlett really were meant to be together ❤💓. The story is absolutely poetic romantic and brilliantly written. I absolutely loved it!!❤❤❤💓💓💓🔥🔥🔥👏👏👏🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Sorry l found this book totally lacking and reason for me to care about anyone in this book. It ends in a cliffhanger and there's no way that I'd want to read book two. I'd run from reading this book. Shirley
