You can read all of my reviews at Nerd Girl Loves Books.

It’s an exciting psychological contemporary thriller about a retired NFL quarterback and his wife and children.

The book alternates POVs between five characters, providing the reader with a well-rounded view of all the moving parts of the story. Danielle believes she has the perfect life with her successful husband and twins. But when her husband becomes distant, disappearing for days without contact, she starts to suspect he’s having an affair. She never dreamed the truth would be so horrific and unimaginable. I liked Danielle and the author did a great job depicting her struggle to love and trust her husband, but to also not just turn a blind eye to issues she notices. She loves her life and doesn’t want to believe that they’re something so wrong that would destroy everything she’s known.

Preston is such a sociopath. His cold calculation sent chills down my spine and I clearly would not want to interact with this guy. His secrets are so depraved, and yet he’s able to act like a normal, caring, charitable person to everyone. It makes you remember that really, you have no idea what people are really like. Everyone has secrets – but to think someone you know is capable of something like this, it makes you shudder.

This book was well written and a quick and easy read. I look forward to reading more from this author. I received a complimentary e-copy of this book from Henry Roi PR and HellBound Books Publishing LLC. All opinions are my own.

What an amazing writer! This is my first book by this author and it will absolutely not be my last! Easily a 5⭐️ psychological thriller!!

This book had me from the start. There was never a moment in it that lulled or left me feeling anything other than needing to know what was going to happen next.

I love how it was written from different perspectives of the different characters. Preston is a retired NFL superstar that lives a double life. In one, he has it all. A beautiful, successful wife, Danielle, their young twin children, and more money than they will ever need. On the outside, he’s literally perfect as far as anyone can see. No one would suspect the “other” side of Preston, including his wife. Only his brother, Tyler, knows the darkness and sociopathic ways of his older brother…but no one ever believed him as a child so he grows up not saying anything about it anymore…but he still has his suspicions.

This book was not predictable, and will definitely keep you glued to each page! I can’t wait to read more of this authors work!

"Goodbye Stranger" by Blake Rudman is a masterfully crafted psychological thriller that takes readers on a chilling journey into the heart of a seemingly perfect life. This suspenseful tale introduces us to Preston Harrington, a retired NFL superstar, and his wife Danielle, who have shared two decades of wedded bliss. However, as the narrative unfolds, it becomes clear that beneath the surface of their idyllic existence lies a web of secrets and darkness.

One of the standout features of this novel is Rudman's ability to defy predictability. Readers are in for a rollercoaster ride as they navigate through the twists and turns of the plot. The story is expertly told from various perspectives, allowing us to delve deep into the minds of the characters, particularly Danielle and Preston. This narrative technique adds layers of complexity, making us question the motives and actions of each character.

The complexity of the characters is a recurring theme, and it's undoubtedly one of the novel's strengths. Rudman takes the time to develop his characters, making them feel real and relatable. This not only draws us into their lives and emotions but also fosters empathy, even for those with hidden agendas. The psychological depth of the characters is an aspect that kept me engaged and invested in the story.

Of the three books I've read by this author, this is by far his best written. The pacing is perfect, which is crucial in a thriller, as it ensures that the tension and suspense are maintained throughout the book. I was consistently kept on the edge of my seat, eagerly anticipating the next shocking revelation.

In sum, "Goodbye Stranger" is an excellent psychological thriller that captivates with its intricate characters, suspenseful plot, and unpredictable twists. It's an addictive read that lives up to its promise of intrigue and mystery. Blake Rudman's storytelling talent is showcased brilliantly in this book, and dare I say, one that could easily become an instant box office hit if it were ever adapted into a movie!

From the first turn of the page, "Goodbye Stranger" ensnares with its intense and harrowing glimpse into the lives of Preston and Danielle Harrington. Their life, ostensibly a portrait of success and happiness, is anything but ordinary. Blake Rudman weaves this psychological thriller with the finesse of a skilled storyteller, drawing inspiration from classic tales of suspense and intrigue.

Preston, a retired NFL superstar, wears a veneer of charm that would fool anyone. Yet, beneath it lies a disturbing truth that begins to unravel as the narrative progresses. Danielle, his wife, with whom he's spent two decades in matrimonial harmony, stands on the precipice of this harrowing revelation. The bliss they project is a stark contrast to the chilling reality that unfolds, making you question how well one can truly know the person they share their life with.

What makes the book riveting is not just the unraveling of Preston's character but how Rudman meticulously develops their lives, making their descent into chaos feel both personal and universal. It's a tale of the devastating consequences that secrets and lies can have on a family, a theme that echoes with unnerving resonance.

The suspense built throughout the book is tangible, the kind that grips you and refuses to let go. With each chapter, you're drawn deeper into the Harrington's world, their past, and the ominous shadow that looms over their future. The return of a figure from their past sends ripples through their existence, threatening the safety of not just Danielle but their children as well.

"Goodbye Stranger" is a testament to the genre of psychological thrillers, delivering on all fronts: it's suspenseful, intricately plotted, and emotionally engaging. Reading it was an experience that left me looking over my shoulder, pondering the facades people wear. It’s a compelling reminder that sometimes the most dangerous threats are the ones closest to home.

"Goodbye Stranger" by Blake Rudman is a psychological thriller that captivates the reader from the get-go. The story orbits around Preston Harrington, a retired NFL Super Bowl-winning quarterback, and his wife Danielle. While Preston appears to be a loving family man, a more sinister aspect of his personality lurks in the shadows, known only to his brother Tyler. The narrative raises questions about Preston's mental state: does he suffer from chronic traumatic encephalopathy due to his football career, or is there an inherent malevolence in him?

The story unfolds through multiple perspectives, primarily those of Danielle and Preston. This multi-faceted storytelling approach offers a deep dive into the characters' psyches, making the narrative all the more compelling. The chapters from Danielle's viewpoint are particularly enlightening, shedding light on the often-asked question: how could a serial killer's spouse be oblivious to their partner's dark deeds?

Rudman writes intricate and multi-dimensional characters that pull you into the narrative instantly. The pacing is spot-on, and the plot is filled with dark secrets, psychological terror, and unexpected twists, culminating in a jaw-dropping finale.

The book is a gripping read, difficult to set aside even at over 400 pages. If you're a fan of psychological thrillers that keep you guessing until the last page, "Goodbye Stranger" is a must-read. Keep an eye out for more works by Blake Rudman; he's a rising star in the genre.

"Goodbye Stranger" is a masterfully written psychological thriller that keeps you engaged from beginning to end. With its well-built characters, well-paced plot, and shocking revelations, it's a book that you won't easily forget.

If you like a psychological thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat, you must check out Blake Rudman’s books. He has just started releasing his books this year, so his name is probably not familiar to you. This is the second one of his books that I have read, and I loved both.

“Goodbye Stranger” revolves around Preston Harrington, retired NFL Super Bowl-winning quarterback, and his wife Danielle Harrington. Preston is successful and dedicated to his family, but there is a dark side to him that only his brother Tyler is aware of. Does Preston have chronic traumatic encephalopathy as a result of the concussions he received playing football? Or is he just evil?

The story is told from different points of view, mainly Danielle and Preston. But there are others that I won’t mention as they may be spoilers. The various viewpoints helped me understand what was going through the minds of the various characters. Most people question how a serial killer’s wife can be totally unaware of what her husband has been doing. I really liked the chapters from Danielle’s perspective as they provided some insight into that.

Rudman gives the reader well-developed and complex characters and pulls the reader into the story from page one. The pacing was perfect, and the plot was intriguing. “Goodbye Stranger” is an excellent psychological thriller with its dark secrets and pure terror. And a surprise ending!

This book is suspenseful and hard to put down. It’s a quick read even at just over 400 pages. I highly recommend it and suggest you keep Rudman on your radar.

A stunning psychological thriller written from multi-perspectives, full of horror, thrills and murders, that makes you wonder just how well you know a person.
Preston is a celebrity in the sports world, but now retired he's been harbouring some secrets from everyone around him. His wife Danielle starts to become suspicious, will she put herself in danger?

I loved that it was written from different characters perspectives, from Preston to Danielle, Tyler (Preston's brother), and an ex-agent. We follow Danielle's suspicions, Preston's true horrific self and his past, and how each intermingles. I felt myself feeling sorry for Preston at a couple of points, worrying he'd be caught and understanding *some* of his reasons, until it became clear he didn't always have reasons, a true psychopath. I felt worried for Danielle, nervous she'd find out the truth.

Some of the story seemed to last too long, and in parts I was hoping for more tension, but the ending fully sold the book to me. Full of tension, packs a punch and had me gasping aloud! I raced through the last 70 or so pages as I just had to know what was going to happen!
Worth the read for every horror/thriller/psychological fan.

When the opportunity arose to have the chance to read and review another book by Blake Rudman, I couldn’t wait!

This is the second book I’ve read and enjoyed by Blake Rudman and I must say, it pleases me that they never end how I think they’re going to end! I love that it’s not a predictable ending.

Danielle has the perfect life and she’s married to a wonderful husband. Preston is a now-retired football athlete, who’s had his fair share of injuries and concussions on the field.

He starts getting distant and Danielle finds that he will be gone at random hours or for longer than he normally would. She thinks he’s having an affair, but what she finds out is much worse.

I really enjoy reading from all of the different POVs. It really helped tie everything together. I couldn’t put this book down and I could definitely see this book getting made into a movie one day. It really was that good!

The book is well written and the characters are greatly fleshed out making it quite an enjoyable read. It’s the perfect length and I didn’t find anything went on for longer than it needed to. I thoroughly enjoyed this read and can’t wait to see what else the author puts out!

This novel tells from multiple points of view which creates a unique dynamic. I definitely recommend to anyone looking for their next thriller novel. I was ecstatic at being offered an opportunity to read and review this one!
As Danielle begins to question if her husband is capable of having an affair, her husband’s dark past gets brought to the light and questions begin to arise if the breaking of monogamy is the worst sin in a marriage and what transgressions are truly forgivable.
Tyler and Preston have an almost antagonistic sibling relationship, one that makes you wonder which one is more reliable. As Tyler leans towards his paranoia in regards to his brother, Preston is determined to maintain a good persona to the public and keep his immediate family’s affections.
Ed is a haunted man, now detective, trying to atone for his past transgressions. In his obsession with making amends he gets caught up with the Harrington family and their secrets in ways he does not expect.
While I would say there are some horrific elements in this novel, this novel shines as a thriller where you just have to see if justice is served or if fame and wealth bury crimes and accusations in the end.

Okay, first, applause where it’s due.
This is the second book I’ve picked up from this author, so, of course I had some preparation to what’s to come(?)

Well…. no, this read like a movie, a thriller, keeping me on my toes through out the majority of its run.

Each character is so carefully written, although you /think/ you know, what they’ll do next, they surprised me.
Danielle - is living the perfect married life, with a wonderful husband, and their children, so what could possibly go wrong?

Let’s just say the mystery and secrecy factor, drove the vehicle.

If at first, he didn’t give off that OTT vibe, my eyes were waiting for it. Such a resourceful & smart man you are, continuously changing my trajectory. You got me there.

The author’s diverseness in story telling and style, is amazing!
I certainly had two suspicions, but, I came to understand I’d been very well pushed in the direction he wanted me in.

5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👌🏻
I highly recommend you check out Rudman’s books!

This is the first book by Blake Rudman I have read. I have to say it was a great read.

Danielle is married to a retired football star and life could not be any better. He is loving, great with the kids and attentive. But some things are not adding up. Since retirement her husband has been off his game. He disappears for days at a time, he is moody and he burns his Goodwill clothes. Is he cheating on her or is it something more sinister.

I really enjoyed this twisted story. It was unexpected and serious. I did feel like the start of the story was a tiny bit slow. With all the in depth football descriptive scenes, the story lost me a bit. But about midway through the story picked up and had me on the edge of my seat. And that ending....was awesome.

This story had it all, secrets, danger and violence. The characters are complex and well developed. It had an unexpected ending, which I loved. I would most definitely read more books by Blake Rudman.

Blake rudman paints a very poignant picture through his mysterious novel, the plot is complex and intricate in the best way, the mystery is definitely one of the most compelling ones I’ve read. I felt that the characters of Danielle and Preston were very nuanced and interesting, affected by their friend Rob’s tragic death. The truth about Rob’s death definitely shocked me and I have to say that was a great plot twist. Danielle’s highly intelligent and behaved so smartly at the time of perilous danger. The last few chapters are brilliantly organised as the story unravels. I absolutely loved her quick thinking and baddass attitude. I really admire this character. Tyler was a great character in the last chapters as well. I’ve also seen my fair share of deranged murderers but this one takes the cake. So if you love thrillers and murder mysteries like me go check this one out. It’s definitely worth it

Blake Rudman's book is a must-read if you're into psychological thrillers that keep you on edge. You may not recognize his name as he has only just begun to release his books this year.

The focus of "Goodbye Stranger" is on Preston Harrington, a retired NFL Super Bowl-winning quarterback, and his wife Danielle Harrington. Preston is a successful and committed family man, but his dark side is only known by his brother, Tyler. Football-related concussions, did they cause Preston to have chronic traumatic encephalopathy? Or is he only malevolent?

The way Rudman portrayed Preston's descent into darkness is both chilling and poignant. By skilfully incorporating Preston's history of injuries and concussions, the author creates a narrative that delves into both the physical toll of sports and the psychological impact of hiding it. The doubt of a secret romance adds more stress to the narration, escalating the emotional agony of Danielle's voyage.

With the reappearance of an old adversary and a chain of tragic events, Danielle and her kids' lives are in peril, leading to a dramatic turn in the plot. The twists and turns in "Goodbye Stranger" showcase Rudman's storytelling ability, making it a page-turner you won't be able to stop reading. Rudman's narrative is both engaging and suspenseful, as it delves into the consequences of living a lie and the darker side of success. Palpable suspense, well-developed characters, and intricate plot. This is a must-read for fans of psychological thrillers and a testament to Rudman’s storytelling genius.

Thank you so much to Blake Rudman & Hellbound Books for a gifted e-copy of this. Retired NFL star quarterback Preston has the perfect family life; gorgeous wife, 2 children, picket fence… shame he’s a full blown serial killer in his spare time! 🫨🔪😅

The characterisation of Preston as a sociopath is perfect. His cold, calculating nature paired with his lack of empathy creates a monster hiding in plain sight who’ll fulfil his own desires and not feel any guilt, remorse or any emotion AT ALL following his actions.

Aspects were reminiscent of hunter & prey, except the hunter didn’t know he was also prey himself! And as the story develops, there is a definite feeling of the walls closing in on Preston which made it very more-ish. To say I flew through the last 100 pages ….!

The 5 POVs were well balanced to give a fully rounded story. A few TWs in this, but that can’t be a surprise.

A good, well pitched serial killer book! 👏🏻

Goodbye Stranger by Blake Rudman is the 2nd book I have read by this author and is a thriller. The book follows different points of view which added an interesting dimension. The main characters feel well thought through and their secrets unfold chapter by chapter.
The writing shows a distinctive style, though not entirely unique. As the story developed, you knew who the killer is, while those around them gradually begin to suspect which added tension to the storyline. Blake Rudman’s Goodbye Stranger delves into the dynamics of truth and betrayal within the confines of marriage and family which kept me on the edge of my seat.
In conclusion, Goodbye Stranger is a compelling read and a must if you love a psychological thriller.

Blake Rudman has a very characteristic style and this book clearly represents it, a psychological thriller.

The book revolves around Preston Harrington, he was a professional player and his wife Danielle.

The story developed around how Preston is bringing out his dark side.

It is told in several points of view, solid and complex characters, intriguing plot, quite a bit of terror and, above all, with an exciting ending.

(Thankyou for sending me this ebook:))

Genre psychological thriller

This was a well done thriller, going into this book I had no idea how crazy the twists and turns would

Preston Harrington was one of the most recognized and loved football stars of his time. Till too many injuries mad him retire. In the height of his career he meets Danielle at a house party , he knew right then and there she was going to be his wife and he would do anything to have her. She didn't know how that night would change her life forever and open her eyes to a life style she wished she was never apart of since the beginning..

Goodbye Stranger by Blake Rudman is a book that asks “How well can you really know someone?”. Danielle Harrington has it all. She’s rich, beautiful, and educated and she has the perfect family. Young twins (a boy and a girl) and her husband, Preston, is a retired NFL quarterback known and loved for his charity work. But Mr. Perfect has a dark side Danielle is just discovering. Following some strange behavior she suspects an affair. But things are much, much worse than she suspects.
A well told story of darkness and violence that will keep you up late reading “just one more chapter”…

This is a bit of an odd one for me. I really enjoyed the concept and the main story overall. For me though, it could have been cut down by about 1/3 and it would have been much better. Almost like the plot and impact weren't as punchy as they could be if it had been a bit shorter.
Character wise, a little 2 dimensional and Danielle annoyed me a bit, little bit ostrich mode and it made her a little bit weak.
However, the plot was good and some great twists. The main thing was I did enjoy it, and I would definitely read more from this author.

I liked this! It was a dark and twisted story about a famous football player serial killer. I could not believe how many people he got away with killing.
The main character was kinda stupid sometimes, but I guess she did have a lot going on lol

Blake Rudman knows how to write thrillers.

In another fast paced, tense read, Danielle and her retired football player husband Preston seemingly have an idyllic marriage. At least on the surface. But as we quickly learn their relationship has many layers including ones Danielle has yet to learn. Preston has many questionable, lets say hobbies that his brother and wife begin to suspect.

With each page the tension builds as more an more about Preston is revealed. Eventually it all comes out and Preston's many secret hobbies are revealed.

With alternating POVs and an intense build up, this psychological thriller had all the hallmarks of a great read, however it fell a bit flat for me. While I enjoyed the characters and how Preston is portrayed as a cold blooded sociopath there were times when the plot was too predictable. I also wasn’t a fan of the ending. I have enjoyed other books by this author so I would read more books by him.

Thanks to Hellbound Books and Blake Rudman for giving me an ecopy of this book.
