The critically acclaimed shojo manga about the drama of all-women musical theater–now an anime!
Ever since she was a little girl, Sarasa has wanted to play the role of Oscar as part of the Kouka Acting Troupe, an all-female acting troupe similar to the Takarazuka Revue. But before she can do that, she has to attend two years at the Kouka School of Musical and Theatrical Arts. As Sarasa practices singing, dancing, and acting, she grows closer to the other girls in her year, including her roommate, the stoic former J-idol, Ai. Though Sarasa is great at making friends, her outspoken nature and grand ambitions earn her lots of enemies as well. Can Sarasa keep her upbeat attitude and achieve her dream of stardom?
I think my trouble with this arc of the plot is that it's much more light on Sarasa and her development, the balance of the ensemble cast feels a little off (was expecting a bit more exploration into more of the side characters), and I'm not that interested in Ai's dilemma (I'd be more interested in her figuring out how to emote, perhaps). baby first years were introduced maybe 2 volumes ago but haven't really showed up again (let along Sarasa's fam and "boyfriend")? I think the year is also progressing more quickly than I was hoping, this whole year dedicated to acting feels critical. also in general much more interested in Romeo and Juliet compared to 20s mafia version of Orpheus and Eurydice (like is this a thing in takarazuka??), it took less explaining and there was more focus on the performance lol........
