The first of three matches for the throne of Egypt has begun! Who will last the longest underwater without breathing? Horus may be determined, but he is no god, and Seth has both cunning and divine stamina on his side. Meanwhile, Isis has plans of her own to help her son…but will they be enough to ensure his victory?
I didn’t expect to start feeling sorry for Seth this early on (or at all) considering the way ENNEAD started. Things have already become so much darker, though none of it feels out of the realm of possibility considering the insane things gods do in a lot of well-known mythologies (Greek, Roman, Norse, Egyptian, etc). Having the initial villain become a victim flipped this story on its head in a way that makes me even more eager to continue reading. The story is unique and compelling thus far!
I just love this story so much. It's very dark, very brutal, very disgusting and makes me feel sick but I love it. The way I see it it's a story that with clever writing talks about modern problems in a fantastical and overly dramatic way, making it easier to see the problem.
ENNEAD Vol. 2 has a very interesting art style and story, and the character relationships are just as complex as you'd expect from a story involving ancient mythology.
I have a feeling this is just going to get better with each volume.

I'm enjoying it, but sometimes I wish there was more context. I feel like i'm missing things between volumes. Even just a picture glossary of characters at the front would be super helpful since there's a whole pantheon.
3.5 stars- Ok, my interest is piqued. The first volume ended too early in the story to really have an opinion on it but threads of intrigue are starting to be revealed. Seth’s a total shitbag but he’s definitely entertaining! I’m bummed the wait time for the next volume from my library is so long
I’m trying to pay more attention to the plot this time round, especially since this is the official translation and so things are making more sense regarding Hathor and the process of becoming a god.
This is a new favorite comic so don’t expect me to be giving out low ratings. While the dialogue may be simple and straightforward and the art isn’t super detailed (love the art style anyway), I still think it’s setting up for an interesting story full of intrigue, drama, and pain. I’ve heard this doesn’t have a “happy” ending and I know vaguely the myth it’s based on so… yea. Can’t wait 🙃
Some casual thoughts:
• Osiris is still sus (I also was spoiled about what vaguely went down with him and Seth but he was sus in vol. 1 before I knew) • poor Anubis… He’s hurt and being manipulated and I’m worried for him and his mom. I just want him to be happy and I want his relationship with his dad to be fixed 💔 • can’t believe they already had their first kiss not kiss • why is Horus having visions? Also, so confused about the one between what looked like (child) him and Seth. I thought they never met?? • what’s the deal with Horus and Anubis? There’s some weird connection and Osiris’ sus ass has something to do with it • idk if I can trust the sun god because she seems kind of sneaky but I love her openly rooting for Seth lol I didn’t write a review for vol. 1 but aside from her disliking Osiris for overthrowing her, she clearly knows something about the whole Seth and Osiris drama and I wonder why she won’t say anything? • Given that I know that one spoiler I can already see Isis being the most unwilling to accept all the revelations that will come out as the story continues. She’s already a huge simp and has a (legitimate) grudge against Seth. Although, I’m curious how much of his actions have been genuinely his given vol. 1 insinuating he had some kind of personality change and Sekhmet (God of Destruction) being weirdly absent in the story so far • who’s pretending to be Nephthys? Sekhmet? • Love getting to see more of Horus’ personality. He’s clearly not gung-ho about being overthrowing his uncle and being king but more so doing it because it’s expected of him and he cares for his mother. He’s already showing conflicting feelings thanks to that “kiss,” the visions, and now talking with Nephthys.
I just want vol. 3 already!!!

So, I enjoy this Korean telling of Ancient Egyptian mythology. I had heard that this was supposed to be spicy and this is very much not spicy. The library has the paperback and the Hardcover is rated Mature. Is there something happening in there that isn't happening in the paperback, because nothing is happening.
So, the story is going very slow and the action is going very fast. We are having the contest to see who will be king of Egypt. Horus vs Seth.
I'm more interested in the characters and I feel like the story sort of skips over things. We did get a kiss underwater. That's all we got, but it was something. I'm still sort of confused as to what's going on with our characters.
I am enjoying it and I love the Egyptian mythology. I want to know more and I want it to get better.
I find this manhwa very interesting since it is based on Egyptian mythology, specifically the battle of Horus against Seth, although Mojito obviously takes several liberties in the story. In this volume the contests begin with the test of holding breath underwater. Although in the story Seth is an evil god and made Egypt suffer, the truth is that it makes me a little sad that all the gods are against him.
This volume was such a ride. Most of it is the trial between Seth and Horus, and their back-and-forth is the best part. Seth is cocky and loves to tease, throwing out little digs like he’s already won. Horus stays cool and keeps slipping in clever moves that catch Seth off guard, and you can almost feel Seth’s temper spike every time.
The contests—a breath-holding match and a race in stone boats—are fun to watch, but it’s really their trash talk and mind games that make it great. Seth is still scary and violent, but he’s also kind of funny and charming in a dark way.
By the end I wasn’t even thinking about who would win, I just wanted more of their snarky arguing. It’s messy, tense, and a lot of fun.
