𝐋𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐡… beautiful and mysterious; when she breezes into Silver Narrows she captures Nick Hendricks's heart in an instant.
Nick, a journalist, is investigating a series of unsolved cases involving disturbing disappearances of teens when Lilah comes into town. Although he knows nothing about Lilah, where she's from, and why she has come to Silver Narrows, Nick can't help but fall for her.
Now Nick is in deep. His investigation uncovers ugly secrets this town has been hiding, and could his heart be clouding the truth about Lilah?
This is slow-burning suspense, but it has excellent, although creepy, elements that add intrigue and twists. The shadowy romance that Lilah and Nick are constantly dancing around also pushes the plot forward. Something will be nagging at you …how does Lilah play into all of this?
I read this book as I found The Perfect Family Man a gripping read. This one not so much. The storyline was fine, and the author did a great job of relaying the love obsession the reporter had for Lilah but for me there wasn't convincing grounds for those feelings. The twists were OK, and I actually really like the wedding scene but I found it a very slow burner and it didn't really do it for me.
I enjoyed this book very much. The mystery surrounding Lilah was very well done and kept the reader in suspense. Where was she from, why did she come to this town, what was she up to, were all questions I asked myself when I was reading this book. The love affair between the two main characters was magical and kept my interest throughout the book. Was she stringing him along, did she really love him, these questions kept my interest throughout the book.
