I’m very particular about how-to books, I want good step by step. While this book does include step by step, it wasn’t to the level of detail I wanted. Maybe because they were mostly landscape, and I wanted more realism. I see there are many great reviews. And it IS a decent book. Maybe I’m too picky!
I would disagree with the “absolute beginner” title
This book is wonderful and it gives you lots of painting ideas with beaches, streets, buildings, trees, farms, and lakes; basically a whole gamut of things to practice painting. However, I would not describe this as an easy to follow to book for beginners.
I have been painting acrylics on and off as a beginner for a while, and I still thought that a lot of these techniques would be hard to master. Maybe it’s just my own level of understanding and others would find it easier? Either way, the book itself is wonderful and I can imagine buying it and using it across the years to slowly master the medium of acrylics.
Great info! I especially loved the section on paper noting in the watercolor style (with acrylics). Washes and lifting out info was fabulous. I’ve been trying different techniques painting clouds and it surely was helpful. Recommend!
