A thoroughly enjoyable thriller, well-researched, credible characters, a vivid sense of place with an intriguing and carefully built plot complete with satisfying twists. This is essentially the KGB versus Chinese intelligence, or Gouanbu, in Hong Kong in the lead-up to the colony's handover to Beijing. Banking, bearer shares, a desalination plant and family rivalries are thrown into the combustible mix. As a thriller writer myself, I'm really quite envious!

Over complicated plot, unneccesarily complex details of Financial documents.
Towards the end seem to wander and run out of steam.
Long winded.

Not one of my usual reads but I had this paperback lying around forever and was like why not? It was older and def dated but it was fun as hell.
