This is a 3.6/5. Definitely a change of pace after the forgotten shore, some moments were a bit too slow but overall still very entertaining. Seeing sunny & cassie clash once returning was really intense, sunny did not hold back! The consequences of her actions are going to plague her for a long time, she had a really tough choice to make and now she’s basically lost both her best friends. Looking forward to the next volume.

I don't know how many chapters were but the second nightmare arc was boring at times and mostly ok.
The suffering is so common for Sunny that lost its edge. Albeit when they go to Mordret's prison was a brutal mini arc. Now the main arc itself was as I've said before.

I don't know if I'll keep reading on bit probably a few more chapters and then a long break again haha

I would be at half or so of LOTM instead.

All the seeded information from the previous volume paid off in this volume making it more interesting and fun to read. Noctis is an absolute fave. Since it's just 150 chapters it couldve been integrated to the prev. volume but idk. My only nitpick is that I wish that we have seen the POVs of the other cohort members instead of a retelling ifykwim. Nevertheless, i still like it.

Around this time in the series (between books 3-4) is where my main problem with this series starts. Don't get me wrong, it is still a 10/10 series, but from here on out problems with spelling, missing words, and weirdly inserted words began. Certain words will be misspelled, and letters will go missing so frequently, it becomes a nightmare to read. If this had been a problem from the beginning, I would have dnf'd a long time ago, like it's only the fact that this book is so good that I am willing to keep going, and honestly, I am astonished as to why this is such a problem. It's like the translator is unimaginably useless and a failure at his job, or Guiltythree himself just gave up on spelling. I haven't even begun to talk about the weirdly inserted words yet, and boy are they prevalent and weird. There will just be various forms of "lightnovelworld" combined with various characters at the end of sentences, ex: "...did something lightnovelworld~.". Like what? How? Why? It makes no sense and destroys immersion. If this book was not so good I would never recommend it to anyone. However, there may be a light at the end of this tunnel, as at around chapter 1280 the spelling, missing words, and weirdly inserted words become far less common and might disappear all together, but I will have to see.

The writing has improved and with it the story as well picked up it's pace. The whole second nightmare was an amazing journey. Anyone could have seen Sunny was stalling for time and yet Mordret didn't notice this until it was too late. Overall it's a good book, can't wait to see where we go from here.

The Red Colosseum although bit frustrating at the start, the way GuiltyThree handled the escape was anything but. Sunny let himself get beheaded while keeping undying chain attribute active and simply took off his collar. Sadly Elyas had to go, this fueled Sunny's revenge on Solvane. Shortly afterwards we meet Noctis and the nightmare Sunny had to endure was a highlight of this book. Jumping from one nightmare to another and also giving us a glimpse of what happened in the past. Rescuing Effie from the Temple of Chalice and finally ending with an all out war against the sun worshippers and warmongers, it was action packed. Sadly Mordret doesn't make any impact other than taking out one of the chain lord. It did accelerate everything that was to come but still he wasn't that much a threat in this book. Sad to see Noctis go, he is the most magnificent sorcerous in the kingdom of hope. I like the world in second nightmare shows how the chained Isles were made. Truly a step up from the previous book.

Cassie got the True Name for what exactly?
All she ever did was get visions, and somehow that was enough. I hate what she did to Sunny.
Putting Cassie on the same level as Kai, Seishan, or Athena feels unfair. She often felt like a burden to the cohort.
Sunny had far more achievements, yet he was somehow the least outstanding among the five with SS designation?? How??? Even below Cassie. The irony is unreal.I genuinely wonder who was generous enough to donate their Echo to her. Why is the author pushing her as the second main character when she clearly isn’t one?

The best book so far. What's change? Character development. Finally, the author gave the side characters some love. While not as clear or direct, we can finally infer some of the characters' motivation and emotion. Noctis was a fun character to hang around, Silvanne and Sevras seems like interesting characters, long ago.

We also got a rather important information regarding the reversal of Rank and Class for corruption pathway, but no explanation were given as to why or how.

Book four things start to slow down, you can really tell G3’s writing is taking a hit because of the WN slave contracts they are pushing on this man.


I have not read past chapter 2000 I believe, I probably never will with some of the horror stories I hear about the latest chaps.

Better to end it on a high note, I will remember the forgotten shore.

Jumped back into the series after giving it a break, and I’m reminded how surprisingly easy and “flowy” the writing style is. Hoping the story doesn’t get too emotions based and stays a little bit calculating 🤞🏼
