Three young women are all confined by the same enchantment. It is an ever powerful, eternal demon that rests within their very hearts and minds. It is fear. The feeling consumes each one of them like a plague, influencing their every decision.
Renee, a thirteen year old girl, is the first to attempt freedom from this internal curse. She embraces the tinge of courage within her and allows her feet to drive her far away from her small town life of entrapment. Little does she know her journey against the unseen terror has only just begun.
The older, questionably less mature, Emily is blinded to her own imprisonment. Instead she allows guilt to cloud her mind while hiding under the cover of meaningless socialization. It is only when Emily finds herself in a strange land that she must finally confront her demons. Will she bow down to the nightmare before her? Or alas will she defeat the monster within?
Unlike the other two, Ms. Morrison has finally gotten her life in order, or so she believes. A professional, strict school teacher, she stands proud in all she has accomplished. Despite her success, terrors of a life long forgotten still torment her mind.
When all three women are forced to confront their inner horrors, their paths cross in an unimaginable way that will leave you breathless!
I was born in Fort Oglethorpe, GA but only lived there the first three days of my life. As the daughter of a military chaplain, my life of travels continued on for many years. I have lived in eight different states and over fifteen homes. When I was sixteen years old, I started attending college. At the age of eighteen, I was accepted as a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Life circumstances challenged my completion of a degree, but alas I graduated from Northwest Arkansas Community College in 2013. I currently reside in my Fayetteville, Arkansas home with my two dogs and a leopard gecko.
I enjoyed the sample although it was a bit scattered until the God stuff for tossed in. Why take a fantasy premise and throw in a God and jesus. I know, God and j
Jesus are fantasies too and can be used for appeal to the Christians. Maybe the good and evil metaphor is taken from the Narnia chronicles, and the talking animals, but it is simply unnecessary and detracts from the premise. You do not need a God to have good and evil, people are fully capable of good works without a deity and evil does not need to be a counterpoint to an imaginary deity to exist, both states stand and on their own in the human world.
Perplexing and compelling beginning to a amazing story that was brilliantly crafted by a amazing author. The characters were compellingly unique and special,a story filled with drama and suspense. I highly recommend this book if you want a truly unique mystery.
So, you know how you "think" you have a book figured out? Well, yeah, I "thought" I had. Oh, but the opposite is true. This book took a turn I was not expecting. I was pleasantly surprised 😮
Its a unique read the character introduction kept reading. As I Had to keep reading it kept my interests .I really don't want to ruin it So alls I can say read it I think you won't regret it.
I love this & I can't wait for more. I will be also leaving a review on Goodreads @ Amazon. And letting everyone know about it. So i gave it a 5 Stars.
This book is written with a very funky structure that leaves you in nothing short of confusion. The transitions are not smooth and really do not adequately explain anything in a way that you can recall actions later and see how they connected. It's very rocky. And definitely feels rushed. You never get a chance to really fall for the story because you are too busy trying to figure out what exactly the author is trying to tell you.
Every character talks the same way. So, unfortunately, there is no true distinction between them. And over all, there really isn't much in the way for character development. The focus is definitely spent on the world building.
That being said, the world building was pretty good. You get a good idea of what you're supposed to be seeing most of the time. However, Fischer has a very limited descriptive vocabulary. This led to everything being not unlike everything before it. In this way, the writing felt stiff.
I had a hard time sitting down and reading this book. I often found myself bored and not really absorbing anything I read. I put it down, sometimes for days at a time, and when I picked it back up again, I couldn't figure out which perspective I was supposed to be in, and what the relevance was to everything happening in the story.
By the end of the book, you become aware of the connection in one manner but not the others. I was okay with the who but I am not at all impressed with the how or why. As for the where, Nevaeh, really? That really cheapened the read. I'm all for the religious sides of things, but that is almost a mockery, in my eyes.
As for the creep factor, I thought it was done well. I only think there should have been more.
I don't think I will read any further because I just had a really hard time even finishing this one.
I got this book because I thought it was Christian fiction. It does have a plot of good vs evil, but there is a lot of vulgar language as well as promiscuous behavior. It could have been really good if the author had left out all of that. It's possible to paint the same picture in someone's mind without using the vulgarity, or being specific about the bad behavior. Personally, I would not recommend this book and have no desire to read the rest of the series, even though this one leaves you hanging. Which is another thing I really dislike.
R.E.M. is an exceptional story of faith, hope, and fear. Corrie Fischer did an excellent job in taking me on three separate journeys which led to one unexpected and artfully crafted end. The story did start out a little slow, but by the time I was half-way in I couldn’t stop reading. This story has strong believable characters, humor, and excitement that is sure to please. Definitely a must read, and I can’t wait for the next in the series.
This story started out a little slow to me and I almost stopped reading it but I'm glad I continued. The way this story ebbs and flows back and forth between the characters is nicely done then in the end it all flows together and provides clarity.A good read
This is one of the worst books I have ever attempted to read. Finally quit, it is that horrible. It's all over the place. Seriously, this is writing? The author should be ashamed.
I am not really into these types of books. It was well written so I actually finished it. I think it would be better appreciated by young readers. I won't be finishing the series, but it was a good book to stray from my normal reads.
Very interesting and fulfilling fantasy tale from a promising first-time author. Weaves an intricate blend of fantasy and pseudo-religion. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a unique story
