Station security chief Garibaldi embarks on a dangerous mission, accompanied by colleague Warren Keffer. Attacked by an alien craft of unknown origin, they find themselves running for their lives, haunted by a mystery that stretches back to Mars.
A fun little comic, but one that is intended to add some extra flavor to the TV series rather than serve as a stand-alone story. Here, we get to see how Sinclair and Garibaldi first met, and we find out what a pathetic washout Garibaldi was at the time. We also see some hints at a strange new alien race that will play an important role later in the show.
Or 3.5 stars? Marked improvement with DeHaas expertly pacing stories of Shadows and Mars around the characters Garibaldi, Sinclair, and Keffer, who gets as much characterisation here as on film. John Ridgeway brings his big SF skills and is the perfect choice for the visuals with human expressions and alien landscapes. This feels like one of the better TV episodes. It offers background and even today, less circulated titillation. An essential for B5 fans and a fairly good read all round.
Garibaldi and Keffer may not have been my first choice for two characters to lead a Babylon 5 comic book, but I still enjoyed this. There were a lot of flashbacks to Garibaldi and Sinclair on Mars which was a very good story to hear. Having heard it referenced so much in the series it was good to see what actually happened. And to have a little hint of what happened to Talia. The main story wasn't as interesting as flashbacks, it felt just like a framing device. But I'm still very glad to have found these comics. I wish they had done more.
Babylon 5 Security Chief Micheal Garibaldi accompanied by the stations young star fighter pilot Warren Keffer are attacked while they are investigating an alien outpost that has been destroyed. Garibaldi continues to recall the event surrounding his first meeting with Jeffery Sinclair and the alien encounter that is strikingly similar to the one Keffer and Garibaldi are in the midst of.
