Eloise
Eloise is the stand alone first chapter to D. J. McPhee's upcoming novel Waycaller, the first in a series that is set for publication in the near future. The Waycaller series is traditional fantasy in the tradition of Tolkien’s The Hobbit, an adventure-filled story featuring Halflings, elves and dragons.
This chapter focuses on Eloise Gordon, a Waycaller, a person with the power to open a Way between the human world and Anwynn, the realm of magic, elves and magicians.
Eloise has been caught in a trap. To survive, she will have to use all her fighting skills and every bit of cleverness she possesses. But her adversary is powerful, a dark elf sorcerer and assassin. The only thing in Eloise's favor is that her would-be assassin doesn't know that she wields a power far beyond his own. Even still, Eloise is doubtful that she will survive.
