Hello Kitty: Fashion Music Wonderland

Rate this book
A short, almost wordless comic book containing three short narratives (one at a fashion show, on about karaoke singing, and one inspired by Alice in Wonderland) with lots of pink and purple imagery based on the Sanrio character Hello Kitty.

Pretty in Pink
Hello Kitty is making clothes for a big fashion show. Fifi is all ready, but sneaks out to get a mini cake that is being served to the guests. She reaches out to grab one, but falls and knocks the tray and Tippy over. Her clothes and makeup are ruined, but Hello Kitty quickly whips up another outfit and models it herself. We see a magazine cover highlighting HK as "pretty in pink" and "Fifi's cakes"

Two sheets feature cut outs for a paper doll of Hello Kitty and her outfit.

High Note
Dear Daniel gets Hello Kitty some kind of big band setup; honestly, I can't tell if it's a stage or a band in a box or a karaoke machine. Anyway, she likes it and he then sees a poster for a talent show. HK and friends win, with HK dressed up in her outfit from the fashion show (her Fashion Music Wonderland persona). They're offered a contract and go off on tour. She and Daniel call and write to each other but still miss each other a lot. Then one day Tippy has a surprise for Daniel-- it's Hello Kitty, back home.

The following page has two cut outs with pictures of HK and Daniel on one side and "thinking of you" with lines to write a note on the other side.

Wonderland
This is Hello Kitty's take on Alice on Wonderland, in a city. HK falls down an open manhole. The Eat Me and Drink Me snacks are in a vending machine. Daniel plays the role of the White Rabbit, looking for his top hat and gloves. Hello Kitty grows to a giant and finds them in his apartment. She drinks back down and sees a street crossing signal. It morphs into the Cheshire Cat who then steals the hat and gloves and runs off with them. Hello Kitty comes upon the tea party with Thomas playing the role of the Mad Hatter. The Red Queen comes in and walks across the table, only to sit down and have tea with Hello Kitty. Daniel and the cat show up. Daniel has his accessories restored. Everyone has a good tea.

Terrible. No words other than "kapow" and "wonderland". Comic is impossible to follow, very spastic and so much stimulation.Terrible. No words other than "kapow" and "wonderland". Comic is impossible to follow, very spastic and so much stimulation.

Given for Free Comic Book Day. Very cute. A little surprised at the lack of text...but useful for young children who haven't learned to read yet.
