About the author

Derrick Harriell was born and raised in Milwaukee Wisconsin. He holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Chicago State University and is currently a dissertator in UW-Milwaukees English PhD program where he also teaches Creative Writing. Hes worked as assistant poetry editor for Third World Press and is currently poetry editor for The Cream City Review. A 2009 Pushcart Nominee, Harriells poems have appeared in various literary journals and anthologies. Cotton (Aquarius Press-Willow Books 2010) is his first collection of poems."

I just finished reading ROPES by Derrick Harriell. Four rounds in reverse. The epistolaries reminded me of the imagined conversations sparked by my curiosity of what would happen if you brought the legends and wannabes of boxing together. Thanks for the journey!

I don't know how this book ended up in my collection and I don't know anything about boxing, but boy does Dr. Harriell have a way with words.
