Ellie gets a call to come up to the Highwater Inn in the Appalachian Forest after several guests have vacated claiming ghost visits. A beautiful out-of-the-way area, with mountainous climbing and gorgeous (although dangerous) waterfalls, and a former history of gold prospectors. When they arrive, they discover that the couple that own and run the inn are not very interested in removing all of the ghosts...just maybe the one in the basement area. This attitude surprises Ellie, but in the best "customer is always right" attitude, she and Stacey discreetly set up their equipment and try to research the history. But soon, Ellie becomes even more concerned when the owner, Willow, not only doesn't want to remove all the ghosts, but is actively encouraging them to appear. She tries to warn her of the possible dangers, but to no avail. Can they resolve this conflict, or will they have to pack it in for the first time and just things stand. This story started out differently from all the others, at a more sedate and relaxing pace, but deeper in the story, it turned into an exceptionally spooky tale, worthy of this author and series. Absolutely loved the twists in this one. I already have the next one on preorder!
