Best-selling spirituality author covers all aspects of confession and forgiveness. As a Russian Orthodox teacher he has a much warmer and more personal approach that that which we often to him the whole point is building a personal relationship with Christ.
Metropolitan Anthony (Bloom) of Sourozh was a prominent writer and broadcaster on prayer and the Christian life, as well as the founder and leader of the Russian Orthodox Diocese of Sourozh.
Metropolitan Anthony of Sourozh is a true personification of the Orthodox ethos. Every page I read in this book was filled with love, compassion, wisdom and faith.
This book is a collection of talks and homilies given by Met. Anthony. Most of them seem to be geared toward young adults as some of the talks were given at a retreat. The first couple of chapters were very well done and thought provoking. The later chapters seem to be repeats of the first couple of chapters with a few extra thoughts thrown in.
This wouldn't be a book I'd recommended to someone first introduced to Met. Anthony's work, but its certainly a nice addition to my own collection. I read this as part of a long-time book club. We meet to discuss it when we're able, which hasn't been very often, so it took a long time to read this book through.
Simply amazing. I love Met. Anthony Bloom anyway, for his approachable spirituality. This book on Confession and how to approach it is full of gems that have made my spiritual life better. I plan to re-read it as often as possible.
This is one to read and re-read. It's so loaded with all the good stuff a soul needs. Thank God for Metropolitan Anthony. Oh how he blessed us with his gift!
Metropolitan Anthony's advice concerning confession gets to the heart of the matter more deeply than other Orthodox Christian books on confession do. It is a treasure!
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was very down to earth and not condemning or overwhelming. I highly recommend if you are wondering why to confess or what to confess and even when to confess.
Wonderful. Cannot be read in one go because you need to stop, digest, calm your heart and read on. He shines the light and a source to turn to in sadness and in happiness. May his soul be blessed!
