Wtf was this garbage?! Book one started out strong and then came this literal trash heap of a book. Not only are there MANY inconsistencies and errors, the main characters are used and abused yet like being sexually abused? but end up together at the end? because? why? They were just fucking their captors and have cum all over their thighs like 5 minutes ago??? For what exactly? Talk about a duet of books not marketed truthfully. What a waste of 3 hours of my time and could not finish this stinking pile of shite called a “love story”?? Gross Raven, just GROSS.

0 stars. ZERO.

It's made worse by the fact that I gave the first novel 5 stars. This novel can go to Hell. This novel can burn. I am OFFENDED by this novel.

First, did anyone actually go through and edit this? I expect typos to happen in novels, but there were so many. Too many.

Second, the actual "triggers" in this novel were not the triggers that should have been shouted, MID PAGE MIND YOU, not at the beginning of the chapter, or beginning of the book, but mid page.

*SPOILERS FOR THE REST OF THE REVIEW*

The trigger most complain about is the cheating. Both Ellis and Eve cheat. For little reason. This book feels like she wanted to write a smut novel but didn't actually LIKE writing smut. The eventual sex scene with Eve and Ellis is rushed and thrown into the novel and it doesn't even make sense where it is.

THIRD, the plot is rough-draft worthy. It makes no sense. She writes herself into corners and then magics it away when she realizes she didn't have a way out. "The Fae world is so much better, they don't have violence like we do, except in these few instances that I've seen in the short time I've been in the fae realm."

Fourth, why the Hell is Ellis a dragon now? At 95% through the book?! FOR TWO CHAPTERS BUT 10 YEARS? This is the absolute worst ending I've ever read. Endings are hard. This takes the crap cake.

I want to go back and warn people in my review on the first book and be like, "Yes, I did love this book, but don't read it because the SEQUEL IS UNEDITED TRASH." Eve is annoying and somehow is supposed to be some chosen queen, BUT IT MAKES NO SENSE BECAUSE SHE DOESN'T DO ANYTHING BUT START DUMB FIGHTS AND LOSE ALL OF THEM.

Ellis is worthless. He was worthless in the first one, and somehow he's more worthless in this one and then he's given POV chapters. WHY!? It did nothing for the plot that goes nowhere. It's like she had a great idea, didn't actually feel like writing it, and just gave a summary of what the book should be about.

Freaking, dragon 5% to the end of the book.

the first one was amazing

The first book was very good excellent even. This one was like a train wreck. I finished it but it was like I couldn’t keep my eyes away from the disaster. That said it has so so much potential. I hate to say it but I think this needs to be a trilogy. It feels like a lot was jammed into one book and nothing made sense? I had to check midway through to make sure I didn’t miss like a short in between this and the last book. It jumped around so much on trains of thought and current narratives/ situations that nothing tied in. This need some harsh editing and some arc readers willing to be a little mean. Also if we are going to go into the dark stuff (and I’m fine with that) you need to bring in the emotion otherwise it reads off…

Nope!!!!! Nope nope nope. I dnf’d this at around 40%. I am not reading about the fated mates cheating on each other for no reason. Awful. Horrible. Also the fact that there were literally trigger warnings mid page was absolutely wild. This is literally written like bad fanfic. The first book was okay. Not good. But not awful. This one was like… fucking hell I don’t even know. It just sucked. Horrific and I’m not wasting another second of my time on this.

This was perhaps, the worst book I’ve ever read. I don’t even know how I kept reading each chapter. Don’t read this if you have trypophobia, because the amount of plot holes will trigger you.

I can probably write my own book on how terrible this series was.
I’m getting angry just trying to express how awful this was. Just don’t read it.

Read with caution

The first book was great! Loved it and couldn't wait to start this one and was utterly disappointed. The tone of book 2 is completely different than book one, and I wish they were the same. Either the first, like the second or vice versa, because the shift was jarring. You had fated mates that spent more time *spicing* with others than themselves. And for one of them it wasnt based on surival, and the other wasn't at first. They wanted it, completely undermining the fated mates trope. And the best spicy scenes, yes SCENES, never occur between the main characters. Ick. An argument can be made that the story doesn't have a HEA or even an HFN. A twist at the end with the MMC doesn't make sense. The series left me feeling unsatisfied and so disappointed, so read with caution.

brilliant

I completely adore this duet. I honestly couldn’t put these books down, I was completely mesmerised.
The suspense was well written, the mystery had me on the edge of my chair in anticipation.
The journey this story takes you on is utterly brilliant, could never tell what was going to happen next.
These books are my absolute favourite, I get so invested.
That ending as perfection 👏🏼👏🏼🫶🏼

I loved the first book so so much! So I was a tad taken aback at the direction the second book took! I felt there were a few inconsistencies with the second book? Is it Pari or Peri? Because book one she’s Pari but in book 2 everyone calls her Peri????? I’m confused.

Also I waited all of book 2 for them to finally get their freak on and was severely disappointed. Considering in book one they’re at it within the first 10 pages of the book!

Overall it was an easy fun read but book 1 is my favourite of the 2!

Not even worth full sentences.

------It's not worth your time-----
- Very slow progressing (so slow I'd dare say we barely moved an inch)
- Nowhere near as good as the first one
- Uninteresting and no progression
- Said I love you for the first time out of nowhere after having cheated on each other?
- Very tempted to DNF
- The ending was extremely underwhelming, and nothing really happened? And then it jumped to year later, then ten years, with barely a chapter in each section with things happening that could've been left out.

This is a downgrade from the first book. I smashed the first book but this one took me a few days which is unusual for me, but I felt like I had the slog through the last part of the book. Just like Royal Hunt it could use a really good editing session and honestly the ending wasn’t worth powering through. I was going to give it one star but I did enjoy the first quarter or so, but it got progressively worse as the book went on with a unit emphasis on the ending not being worth it and honestly a bit random/needing fleshing out.

Firstly, I will say this. If you are thinking about reading this after seeing all these reviews just because you’re curious. Don’t. I did and trust me, just don’t.

This book genuinely made me so confused, irritated, cringy.

If I had to read about the FMC being some “big, not tiny, tall, horsewomen” (yes you read that correctly. She was called horsewomen) I was going to scream. You have the FMC and MMC who are supposedly “mates” yet they screw other people and act like they enjoy it but then regret it when they’re with each other.

You have the previous king who everyone said is worse than the current king. He’s in prison. There’s a big riot and they’re trying to escape. This guy literally was saying that he was wanting to kill the humans. Just a reminder, the FMC is human. So because he was “nice to her”, she decided to fight with him so he wouldn’t die. *insert me rolling my eyes* Like how many times do you want to save someone who should’ve just died.

Then randomly at the end, the MMC uses his powers to I guess save everyone, or just save her, I don’t know. So after that, he turns into a dragon. ????

Over all, definitely wouldn’t recommend and these are just a few reasons why.

Royal Captive

Follow Eve and Ellis as they continue their journey into the fae lands.

The deception runs deep in this one. I never saw the twist coming.

I am so impressed at the amount of world building is in the book. Raven does such ab amazing job with descriptions. I don’t know how she did it without making this book massive.

Anyway, back to Eve and Ellis. They definitely learn a lot about themselves, the fae world, and their “friends” while they are gelid c apt Ive in the far realm. Their grown throughout this book is exceptional.

You’ll fed want to start with Royal Hunt. I really wish I could read this duet again for the first time.

Hands down, 5 stars.

The first book of this duology was so good, I had such high expectations for this story. But then you lost me.. Why are we sleeping with another person who isn’t our mate, (who initially raped you) in order to “protect” her??? So upsetting. At least Eve slept with someone else because she wanted to, and she wasn’t trying to justify it with some weird reason like that.
Otherwise the world building was decent, I didn’t notice any crazy plot holes although I’m a little confused by Ellis turning into a dragon but whatever

I read an arc of this and it was so enjoyable I couldn’t get enough!
It is a follow on from the Royal Hunt and takes place mainly in the Fae realm. Ellis and Eve have been kidnapped and taken there as slaves.
The tension and adventure is intense and the characters are lovable and interesting, even the nasty ones! lol.
Lots of secrets are discovered and throw rebellion and lies into the mix and BAM! What a fantastic book! I didn’t want it to end.

AWESOME BOOK. I was on the edge of my seat and I couldn’t even put it down. It was addicted and the suspense was mind blowing. Ellis and Eve was kidnapped by the evil Fare. Could they fight their way out of this nightmare. Will they be able to survive the drama. Or will they live happily ever after.
I definitely recommend this book and you won’t be disappointed. I received advance copy of this book via Bookfunnel and am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion. Trina Jones

I really liked the first book but this one just didn’t have the same vibe. There were a lot of inconsistencies and something that happened in book 1 that was never explained or mentioned again.
I also feel like the ending was unnecessary. It felt like it was leading into another story/series but there isn’t one. Overall I was disappointed with this one, which sucks because I really enjoyed the characters in the first book.

Erm i really don’t know how i feel.. there were parts of the books i really enjoyed - but i think it could have been lengthened out into a third book.

Ellis as a dragon confused me as I hadn’t seen anything referenced before (or maybe i missed it?) - it also felt rushed, hence why i think a third book would have been beneficial to describe that story or give more insight. I also wish it didnt take him 10years to decide that he was in control..

Guys, I very very rarely DNF a book. I pushed through 120 pages and finally gave up. Did no one proofread this?? HE HAS TO HAVE SEX WITH HIS CAPTOR TO UNDERSTAND THE LANGUAGE??? Like what? Besides that there are so many inconsistencies. Sloppy writing and honestly feels like the author didn’t GAF. Do yourself a favor and don’t read this. Stop after the first one. Imagine a happy ending. You’ll be better off.

interesting book

Reading this book, I was not expecting the direction the book took. I do enjoy a book that doesn’t stick with the straight happy love story, however the main characters end up with a lot more to deal with this book after everything that happened in the first book. I did enjoy the story and especially the end.

Great story

The storyline of this whole duology great. I really enjoyed Ellis and Eve’s adventure, but I was disappointed that this book was released with so many errors and inconsistencies. If this book goes through another round of editing, I know it could live up to five stars, but it was difficult to get through it in its current state.

The first book was amazing. The second book left me confused. Like I was missing something. I felt this way through the whole book. Did I enjoy it? yes, until the last 2 chapters. The Epilogue made no sense. What was the purpose? It felt rushed, unfinished, as if it wanted to lead into another series but it doesn't exist.

I've never scored a book this low. I made myself finish it because I refuse to have a DNF. Not only does the plot go sideways about 30 times, but it's even poorly edited. And can anyone explain the weird tacked on epilogue? Is she trying to promote another book?
If this book had been better edited and filled out more, it would have been a great read. But as it is, it feels like a first draft.

Numerous things:
1. Her names Pari not Peri?
2. Wtf was that pacing?
3. The cheating although you’re mates???
4. That ending and the time jump? Wtf was that.
5. The action just didn’t happen, we got teased the rebellion but never saw it?

It needs to be edited, its needs better descriptive language, plot needs to be fixed, its an easy read but not a great one unfortunately

Soooo many inconsistencies plot errors and just general confusion. Is Viana his cousin or fuck buddy because she has been confirmed as both and now I don't know! This duo had the potential to be great! I loved the overall story it just sucks that it was inconsistent and there were gaps and holes everywhere. And a freaking dragon? Really? Where on earth did that come from!?!?

Didn't even finish it

Author woke up and chose violence. Missing dialog. I went back and re-read several passages after things were referenced that didn't happen. No character depth. Didn't feel attached to the MMC at all. The first book was 4 stars. This one is barely 1. So much potential. I could see it being a movie where a screenwriter can fill in the gaps though.

All over the place

This book would benefit from an editor and revisions - it almost read as a self-published AI book. Multiple errors throughout, unlikeable FMC and MMC, and side plots that don’t add to the main storyline or felt rushed just to progress the plot. Overall, not a memorable story
