Not only has Gracie Mitchell inherited The Diablo Springs Hotel, and with it the curse that has haunted her family for over a hundred years, but now the man she tried to forget has mysteriously returned to town.

Erin is just the average girl next door in Gilbert, Arizona where she lives with her husband, two daughters and three dogs (all of whom have made debuts in her stories--the dogs, that is, not the husband and kids.) Wonderful blend of paranormal and romance. This has a nice spooky vibe that kept me turning the pages. I loved the chapters going back to the past. Give this a try if you're looking for something a little different.
I got this book probably the end of November, but haven't had much of a chance to read it until now. I have to tell ya, this book grabbed me from the first chapter! I have never read paranormal thrillers before but wow, I can see this one in my head and for that matter, from what I have read so far, it would make a great movie! I will write more of a review when I am finished.
Thought I would come back and add a bit after finishing the book. It is a really great read! You actually get two stories for the price of one as people from today and the western past of Diablo Springs, come together in a paranormal way that deals with superstition, destiny and fate. I think I loved the story of the past as much as the whole book. Erin could write a great western, period piece, novel all of its own! I almost hated to leave the past story to come to the present one with its terrifying happenings. The book has some big sexual scenes too, very steamy, so if that's something you do not want to be reading, this is your R rating notice lol. But it is afterall a romance thriller. Fun read, good story and a part of it, I really had wrong clear up to the very ending. I do like a book that I don't know the exact ending until I have finished it. Well done!
Here is the blip from the back of the book: "If you listen hard enough… Diablo Springs—once a boomtown of gamblers, outlaws and miners. Now a place where shifting sands whisper only of torment and loss…a place where shadows lure the unsuspecting into its abyss.
It is where Gracie Beck was raised, but she never called it home. When she left that place, she never looked back…
You will hear their whispered warnings… Now Gracie finds she’s inherited the Diablo Springs Hotel from her grandmother and, with it, a curse that has haunted her family for over a hundred years. As she begins to unearth long-buried secrets, she unleashes a force that threatens everyone she cares about. And when the one man she has tried to forget unexpectedly returns to Diablo Springs to find inspiration for his next novel, Gracie knows that a dark and desperate chapter in the story of her family must finally be written…"
I really enjoyed this book. It was the first I've read by this author, and I plan on reading her other books. I'm passing it on to my friend so she can read it, too.
The cover of the book is not giving the book any justice. I enjoyed the story greatly but was rather confused by the ending and the identity of the ghost. The ending was a bit of a let down, sorry

REVIEW: This book is definitely a secular read and contains some offensive language and sexual scenes. It is a double threaded plot with one historical and the other present day that are connected by ghosts, apparitions and paranormal phenomenon. The editing is poorly done with many words that ap-pear like that which causes a disruption in the flow of the reading. I don't particularly care for paranormal books but did find the mystery of the connection between the past and present interesting. The characters overall were well developed and the setting reminded me of some of the old Hitchcock films that held you enthralled. Definitely some surprises at the end, but I just can say this book was really my style.
I'm torn on how I feel about this book. Not because it was poorly written or told, but because I felt pretty badly for Ella (the heroine from the past who helps set up the events in the future) and wanted her to have more of an ending than she got. IMO, her story was more tragic than Gracie and Reilly's simply because she was stuck believing something (intentionally vague, I know!) that wasn't true and never knew the whys or hows of that thing.
*kicks ground and looks sad*
As for Gracie and Reilly, keeping BIG secrets from others is usually a no-no for me, but the reasoning behind this one worked. Gracie essentially loses the last of her family when her grandmother sends her away as a teen and she's dealing with big life changes on top of believing the love of her life abandoned her. So, yeah. I get why she kept her secret.
Reilly has his own share of demons, most of them revolving around his messed up family. Man, those Alexanders were screwed up in the head. For reasons, guys. For reasons.
As for the part of the story that takes place in the past, Ella and Sawyer's tale is tragic. Given the times they lived in this isn't shocking, but Ella had strength and courage to spare and that was the only thing keeping her going forward at times.
Ultimately, I liked the book. I might have wanted more for Ella, but the present day romance worked and I'm always down for reading about restless spirits.
I enjoyed many things about this book. The characters were 3-dimensional and had personality traits that made the reader care about them. I also liked the back and forth between time periods. However, the end was confusing and disappointing. I had trouble keeping the family relationships straight, and I had unresolved questions. For example, was Brenden "possessed" when he took Analise to Diablo Springs? Why did Reilly look like the Captain if he wasn't part of either family? Anyway, it is unfortunate that the ending seemed incomplete.
Gracie Beck returns to her childhood home in Diablo Springs, Arizona a place she never wanted to return to. I was hooked at the first page of this fast moving romantic suspense. A ghost story about the Beck women spanning 100+ years, just when you think you've figured it out the author throws another curve.
I love this book. It flipped back and forth between the past and the present, seamlessly weaving a complex plot. I'll definitely read more by this author.
This was a great romance, which have interwoven some historical romance and a bit of a paranormal too, almost a ghost story. It had great action, drama, suspense and plenty of romance.
I read this story in the Seductive Supernaturals: 12 Tales of Shapeshifters, Vampires & Sexy Spirits anthology.
This is a new to me author and I enjoyed her story. I liked the story line and found the book to be a page turner. I do not read many ghost story's, but I thoroughly enjoyed this one.
3 stars = I liked it. I'm having a hard time quantifying my feelings for this, it was a ghost story with a curse and with past and present woven together. The back and forth shift in time was clunky in places, but I liked the second chance love story layered on top even though it could've been a little more fleshed out.
This book grabed me from the first page. It was a great story & was always interesting. I really love the way Erin writes. It was my first time reading one of this authors book. I would highly reccomend her books.
It was so suspenseful that I read it in 2 days... Couldn't stop reading!! I loved the paranormal aspect and the 2 different stories set in 2 different time eras but still managed to twist together, I loved the paranormal twist to it all.
Once you start to read you can't stop! I love the way the author told the back story it was like two books in one! Great mystery that you will not be able to figure out until the very end!
I'm not usually a fan of the paranormal. But this story was well written. It made you feel like you were there with them, experiencing what the characters were going through.
