As part of his Yanagida's team, Ikuto quickly finds out that though his mentor is talented, it's the personality that rubbing the other members of the team the wrong way.

This volume gives a really good depiction of workplace politics and relationships.

This volume presented an interesting problem for Ikuto. It's not that he needs to get his designs done in time (though he does need to), or needs to be better than someone else (though he does need to), but he needs to be so much better than he is right now to prove others wrong. The theme of this volume is how connections can get you good jobs but the people already working there, who had no connections and had to get there through hard work alone, will resent you for it. They'll look down on you, they'll expect you to be great but no matter how good you are it isn't enough. You might have talent, but if you don't have overwhelming talent they'll still hate you. You might have accomplishments, but no accomplishment is big enough. You have to find a way to prove you deserve the position you, as some would put it, lucked into. Ikuto has to deal with this. His higher ups have to deal with this. Everyone has to come to terms with how they've made their career, and what good (or ill) fortunate has done to them. And that's pretty fascinating!
