Have You Seen Her?

Rate this book
From the moment I was born, I knew that I would always come second to my sister. Bright, popular, beautiful – she has always been everything that I’m not. But when she vanishes without a trace I know deep down I’m the only person who can find her.

I haven’t spoken to my sister Evianna in years, not since a shocking accident tore our lives apart and sent us to opposite sides of the country. For years I have worked as a social worker and Evianna is a successful online celebrity. Our lives couldn’t be more different.

But then I get the call. Evianna is missing and her husband Simon needs my help. Arriving at their palatial home, I expect to find Simon wracked with worry for her safety but if anything he seems more worried about what her devoted fans will think.

Scratching beneath the surface of their picture-perfect life, I discover that they were not the golden couple everyone thought. They had secrets they were desperate to hide. But then again as young sisters, so did we.

As Simon’s behaviour becomes more threatening towards me, a feeling of deep dread starts to swell. I think he knows our secret. But how far will he go to make me pay for happened and can I find my sister before it’s too late?

A totally gripping psychological thriller about toxic sisterhood and dark secrets that will have you reading just one more chapter until you reach the shocking final twist. Perfect for fans of Freida McFadden, The Woman in the Window and Gone Girl.

ARC audiobook provided in exchange for an honest review.

The narration for this book fit perfectly for the main character and all the others as well! It was clear and concise and made the book a very easy listen. I really liked the plot of the story! It mainly focuses on two sisters that have been estranged for years and meet up when one of them has a sad cancer diagnosis. Shortly after her sister leaves to fly back home the sick sister’s husband contacts her to come back because she is now missing. I wasn’t sure where parts of this story were headed but really enjoyed all the twists and the ending felt incredibly satisfying! I would definitely recommend to anyone who likes psychological thrillers!

This was a fast paced, intense psychological thriller!

Following two estranged sisters, the author takes us on a journey of deception, jealously and greed.

I enjoyed the past and present timelines, as we got to know the sisters from their time growing up to their now. Sibling relations can be complicated and these two sisters definitely have a lot gong on, both from the past and their current relationships.

I don’t want to say too much without giving away the plot, but it's clever and oh-so-good. Expect a book exploring toxic and complex relationships, social media influences, lots of red herrings and a gasp out loud final twist.

The audio narration by Amelia Sciandra was fantastic and really kept the novel alive.

Many thanks to @netgalley and @dreamscape for ALC 🎧

I really enjoyed HAVE YOU SEEN HER. I was very entertained right from the beginning. I thought Blair was a great sister to Eviana. The switching of timelines to their younger years gave me a good understanding of their relationship and the one with their mother. One of my favorite things about the book is that it took place in Orlando, Florida, which I know quite well! I definitely recommend grabbing a copy, if you like a fast-paced story with not a lot of thinking involved.

Review for 'Have You Seen Her?' by Dea Poirier.

Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Dea Poirier, Bookouture publishers and Bookouture anonymous

Publication date 19th September 2023.

This is the third book I have read by this author. I have previously read 'The Girls In The Fire' and 'The Marriage Counselor' which I highly recommend.

This novel consists of 43 chapters. The chapters are short to medium in length so easy to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!

WHAT did I just read!!!! WOW!!! I mean seriously Wow!! I was NOT expecting that lot fair play!!! This has GOT to start with a MASSIVE WELL DONE DEA!!!! Ooopps sorry, yes, needed a minute to get over that but I've just left you hanging there... Sorry.... Let me tell you more...

Firstly let's start off with the writing style, etc!! This book is an extremely well written book by this amazing author which had me hook line and sinker!!! It is so smoothly and fantastically written with vivid and evocative descriptions I completely forgot I was even reading a book a few times. The blurb, title and cover really fit the storyline. to create an absolutely explosive and addictive storyline that had me hooked from the gripping first chapter to the absolutely shocking ending!!! This is one of those books where you have absolutely no idea who is telling the truth and who can be trusted and the ending was an absolute explosive bombshell of a twist!! I found the storyline to be realistic, very fast paced and I listened to it in just several hours!!! I loved the setting and atmosphere and just well... Everything!!! Twists after shocks after turns!!! Its so hard to NOT say anything about them as it will give too much away and spoil it for future readers but it definitely left me speechless over and over!!! I have read hundreds of psychological books and it gets harder and harder to keep my interest and to shock me but these fantastic authors managed it hook, line and sinker Just brilliant fair play and all links in and wraps up perfectly!!! Dea weaves the storylines together perfectly and leading the readers up to some extremely explosive twists that I would never have seen coming. I cannot remember the last time I flew through a book so quickly. Each and every time I went to put it down to do something my fingers were itching to pick it back up as I just HAD to know what happened next!! Dea's evocative writing skills ensure you are sucked deep into the storyline seeing everything that is happening and feeling the tension, stress and suspense that Blaire is going through. My heart was in my throat throughout reading this fast paced, gripping and gritty psychological thriller! It is ram packed with lies, twists, tension, stress, suspense and everything you could ask for in a psychological thriller. It really does make you wonder who you can trust, if anyone!! I can't say more than that as I don't want to spoil it for future readers so if you want to know you'll have to grab yourself a copy!! You won't regret it!!

This is one of the few books that I have listened 100% on Audiobook. If I listen to a book on audiobook I usually also read the physical book between but I listened to the whole book and I was impressed! I must say a HUGE congratulations to the narrator Amelia Sciandra who did a great job bringing this story to life. I would listen to it in the car and while walking at any opportunity and Amelia did a fantastic job on both male and female characters voices!!! I'm not only looking forward to reading more books by Dea but also to listening to more books narrated by Amelia! I have also listened to 'The Girl Who Lied' by Shannon Hollinger and 'The Girl In The Pink Shoes' by Stacy Green on audiobook which were also narrated by Amelia. These are both fantastic reads and Amelia does an amazing job narrating them as well as this book so I would highly recommend any books narrated by her!

Just like with the storyline the characters come to life with Dea's fantastic evocative writing skills and Amelia's brilliant narration. They are well rounded, realistic and strong making them all the more believable. The multiple timelines builds up the character development and shows the reader the relationships between the different characters. It is one of those books where you have no idea who is telling the truth, what secrets are being hidden and it makes you wonder if you can believe any of them. They all jump out of the pages and I felt differently about them all but I can't say anything else without giving away too much and trust me when I say this is one book you want to read for yourself!! Dea really has done an amazing job constructing yet another addictive and explosive psychological thriller with fantastic and varied characters that you just won't be able to put down!!

Congratulations Dea on yet another explosive success!!! This is exactly why you are in my favourite author club!! Here's to many more successes 🥂!!!

Clear your schedules before picking this up as you will not be able to put it down!!!

Make sure you read to the very end of the book to read the first three chapter of Dea's 'The Marriage Counselor' which I have read myself and would highly recommend as it is another addictive psychological thriller by this fantastic author!

Overall an absolutely page turning, addictive, gripping and explosive must read that will keep you addicted from the very start to the explosive bombshell ending!!!

This book had 4-star potential. The supporting characters in the book really brought it down. If they were removed or rewritten that would improve the book immensely.

To be clear: the actual story about the missing sister was great. It was a true psychological thriller in both pacing and in my head. I really wasn't sure what which way was up. I couldn't decide what was true (e.g. was the sister was missing or setting people up + what is truth v. lies)

From the beginning, I was hooked about the missing sister.

HOWEVER, the MC drove me bananas. She was a real dumb dumb who ignored every red flag and refused to tell anyone or the police her sister was missing. This is because "she did a bad thing" 15 years ago but this carrot-stick "excuse" wasn't sold very well. The reveal to what it was didn't help. I think if that hadn't happened and had been revealed another way it would have been a real zinger of a twist (see below for more info).

The MC also reminded us constantly that she was the "second favorite" or that her sister was the "golden child." It was annoying, repetitive, and didn't matter to the story. The author (a second child?) tries to make it a theme or important point but it really could be left off or mentioned once, twice at most. All the revelations about that were also unnecessary and lame.

My last complaint is the supporting character. They were so overly fictitious (not realistic at all) that it brought the entire reading experience down. The mother was a Scooby Doo villian. I felt the same about the husband. They were cartoonish and unrealistic.

SUMMARY: Blair hasn't spoken to her older sister Evianna in 15(?) years. Evianna has recently reached out and reconnected with Blair, explaining she (E) has cancer. As Blair is flying home to Seattle, E's husband calls saying E is missing. As soon as Blair returns to her sisters house (her sister is a rich influencer) she finds the husband acting strangely; he doesn't want the police to know E is missing, he is posting updates to E's social media pretending to be E, the neighbor/friend tells B they fight often and the husband is cheating, E doesn't really have cancer, and many other "red flags" AND YET Blair doesn't go to the police because of a "bad thing" she did years ago.

The rest of the book is Blair trying to figure out where her sister is and what happened to E and what is true or not. For example, a picture of a sonogram is posted to E's instagram, which leads Blair to believe she's still alive (but if so, why isn't she asking for help?) but the husband says E can't get pregnant, etc. The husband continues to act weird and suspicious and seems to be setting Blair up. Blair continues to investigate and finds more confusing evidence.

Finally the bad thing is revealed and then you find out what happened to E and what was true or a lie about everything (e.g. was she missing, was she pregnant, does she have cancer, etc).

Note: I grew up with an abusive, narcissistic parent, and the mother here wasn't portrayed accurately. It was the kind of mother that only exists in Hollywood or fiction. Everything a narcissist mother does is deniable. They are rarely so obvious with their abuse. Writing the mother this way is not only incorrect it harms actual victims because it perpetuates this false narrative that abusers act in this blatant over-the-top way. They typically don't.

Thanks netgalley for my ARC ALC

STOP HERE TO PREVENT SPOILERS

IMHO, the "twist" at the end would be more impactful without the death of the mother or if Evianna also confessed to having killed the mother that the MC believes died by suicide.

Have You Seen Her? is a melodramatic, suspenseful and thrilling read that will keep you intrigued the whole way through.

After landing, she turns on her phone and there’s a message from Simon, Eviana’s husband saying she is missing.
Returning to Florida from Seattle, Blair begins her investigations to help find her sister.

As the plot unravels, this fast paced thriller is gripping, interesting and entertaining.
The present will collide with the past as you get deeper into the storyline.
Estranged sisters, social media conniption, family trauma, masterful twists and addictive reading make for this one a stimulating book.

This is an enjoyable psychological thriller, which was easy to listen to, especially as the narrator did a great job.
The story itself is about two sisters called Evianna and Blair, who have been estranged for years. Evianna's husband Simon contacts Blair to tell her Evianna has cancer and asks her to come immediately. Of course, Blair goes to help, but she is surprised to find that Evianna is missing. Where can she be, and who is responsible for her disappearance? And why is Simon acting so strange? As the story goes on, we learn more about the women's childhood and family, and about Evianna's influencing work. I was a bit surprised at the ending, but I enjoyed and book and I highly recommend it.

Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book.

4.5 stars rounded up to 5

Blair thought her estranged sister Eviana was dying of cancer, but now she’s just missing. Back in Seattle from Orlando where she learned the news, she gets a series of phone calls from a number she doesn’t recognize. It turns out to be her brother-in-law Simon, whom she’s never met. He wants to know if she’s been in touch with Eviana. She went for a walk and never returned. He implores Blair to help find her.

Her husband refuses to involve the police. Blair missed meeting Simon during her original trip. But as she returns to Orlando at his behest, she realizes he never knew she was there. He also doesn’t know — or doesn’t care — that his wife has terminal cancer. Blair can’t figure him out, but she could also never figure out her beautiful, smart, sickening sister either. But when he refuses to call the cops to report Eviana missing, she starts to wonder what he’s hiding.

Her sister’s a social media influencer with millions of followers. Eviana received hate messages and threats regularly. Anything could have happened to her. However, Simon is adamant that she’ll come back eventually. Going to the police would garner media attention which could damage her brand once she returns. He’s not worried if his wife’s okay — or even alive. He’s only concerned with keeping her followers in the dark by posing and posting as his wife on social media.

Blair would go the police herself if she could. As Simon flips from saccharine sweet to enraged and violent, she increasingly believes he’s somehow involved in her sister’s disappearance. She also knows she should go to the police, but she can’t. She and Eviana share a horrible secret. If the police looked into her past, it would completely destroy her life.

There’s never been any love lost between Blair and Eviana. Even so, Blair’s determined to uncover what happened. She’s always been jealous and contemptuous over her sister’s seemingly perfect life. But as she starts to talk to Eviana’s friends and digs into her posts, she discovers it was nothing but a huge lie. It makes her more resolved than ever to find out the truth. What happened to her sister? Where in the heck is Eviana?

Fast-paced and gripping with twists around every corner, "Have You Seen Her?" by Dea Poirier is one of those books that’s hard to put down because everything about this book is spectacular. There isn’t a hair out of place — unless it’s the ones standing on end from a few of the characters. It’s a thrilling tale of toxic relationships and deadly secrets, of lies and deceit. In a world in which people post about every minute of their lives on social media, this book’s a reminder that everything is not always what it seems. What is framed as perfection online might be a nightmare in reality.

Told from Blair’s perspective, "Have You Seen Her?" is so well written that you’ll forget that Blair’s a character and not the author. The story alternates between the present-day and Blair’s childhood, starting when she’s ten through part of her college years. Few and far between at first, the flashbacks get more frequent in the second half of the book when Blair’s secret is finally revealed. It’ll change the way you see Eviana’s disappearance. However, it will in no way prepare you for what goes down in the mind-boggling conclusion. You’ll kick yourself for not seeing it coming, though. The clues were there all along, no matter how subtle.

Pick this book up. You won’t regret it. Plus, it’s almost a sure bet. If you pick it up, you won’t be able to put it down.

Thank you to Bookouture and Dea Poirer for the complimentary eARC and including me on the blog tour.

Blair, now a social worker, and her sister Evianna, an influencer, have never got on. Evianna was the “perfect” daughter and Blair the one pushed to the side, especially by their mother. So why Blair decided to hop on a plane to see her sister is beyond her. But Evianna sounded desperate.

And now Blair is heading back to Evianna’s in a bizarre series of events. After Evianna telling Blair she has cancer, Blair heads back home, but as she touches down, Evianna’s husband Simon calls to tell her Evianna is missing and she needs to come quickly. Blair immediately gets on the next plane and the craziness begins.

When Blair arrives, she realises all is not well. Simon has not even reported Evianna as missing and is actually keeping up her social account himself. She decides that it’s up to her to look into the disappearance, but the more she digs, the more Simon’s behaviour turns evil and the more questions come to light.

Now Blair fears for her own life and everywhere she turns, the puzzle pivots. Those who try to help land up in danger and those who threaten her might just destroy everything she has. What do you do when you are in over your head?

Why Blair went to the lengths she went, I’ll never know. First, the relationship with her sister was so strained and she had been treated so badly, it was an odd choice to see her in the first place. Then putting up with the way Simon treated her was not on. I get that deep down she loved her sister and would do this for her, but the idea of doing this on her own and not going to the police was crazy. She knew something was off and still went ahead with her amateur sleuthing. Even when it became clear her life was in danger. The physical damage she sustained I question. She seemed to recover from that very very quickly even though it occurred more than once.

Simon was a deplorable character. That means that the author has written him really well to make me hate him that much! His attitude, mannerisms, and actions just spoke of duplicity and selfishness.

The girls’ mother was another character that was just downright awful. The way she treated Blair was appalling and I’ll never understand why people like that have children.

The book is written well in that the proofing was good with few mistakes to distract you. But at one stage, one of the characters that works in IT goes from Melvin to Calvin, which was a little odd. I will say that you can figure out the ending before it happens and when it does, you are actually sad because it’s such a waste!

I really enjoyed this book because even though you feel such strong negative emotions towards people and actions, it goes to show how much the author has made you believe. The toxic relationship, the secrets, the “real life” behind an influencer – all thrilling elements that brought the book together well. I would have liked to have seen some more of the plot lines finished off as there were a few points left open. But the ones that needed to be explained were. Not all that glitters is gold, indeed!

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture.

Alright, alright - let's get into this, yeah?

I want to start this off by saying that this book has a lot going on and I usually love that! The problem lies in the fact that I found this story to be repetitive and that caused my brain to spaz out a bit.

This book had me on the edge of my seat in the beginning. A sister gone missing and all the signs are pointing to her being taken out by someone close to her. A husband with anger issues calling for help to find his wife. Sounds right up my alley for a mystery-thriller. But that's where the intrigue ends a bit.

Imagine finding out that your sister is missing, assuming the worst has happened(someone murdering her), and NOT CALLING THE POLICE!? And on top of that you're going to stay with the man(her sister's husband) that you think had something to do with that murder/disappearance? This is where the book went all wrong for me. I couldn't concentrate fully when I kept thinking about the actions of the FMC not adding up with what she was saying. It wasn't just irritating, but it was beyond idiotic. Sorry, not sorry.

That being said, there were twists and turns that I really didn't see coming and that's why this book is getting three stars. This story has so much potential and I really wish that Poirier had strengthened her side characters and given the FMC a backbone. I understand that we needed to make the FMC a bit more meek to fit the earlier timeline of the story, but the decisions that she made while supposedly worrying about her sister made this story fall flat for me.

I want to say that if the characters were more fleshed out, this story could easily be a 4-star for me.

Thank you to Dreamscape, Bookouture, and NetGalley for the audiobook version of this story in exchange for an honest review.

Have You Seen Her? by Dea Poirier
(Narrated by Amelia Sciandra)

Interesting twisty plot that kept me guessing.

A story about the younger sister Blair was jealous and done with being compared with her big sister Evianna who was charming, smart and mother’s sweetheart.

Evianna was a famous KOL. One day she sent a message to Blair that she’s cancer. Blair was shocked since they didn’t speak with each other over a decade. Still Blair flew to see her. Simon, Evianna’s husband, left a message to Blair telling her Evianna has gone missing.

Then the story revealed lots of secrets, like cheating, faking, terrible lies and so on. It kept me guessing who to trust and what’s next. I went through twice for the twist at the ending. Something new and surprising.

The narrator played out Simon very well. The urge to find his wife and a mixed feelings which was done well to “mislead” us.

It’s interesting that the author talked about some scenes behind being a KOL. We, as audience, always saw the posh side of people., we missed that people only showed their best, instead of sharing every the terrible side to the world.

Many thanks to NetGalley, Dreamscape and the author for this copy.

I really enjoyed this one!! 🤩🤩 Brilliantly complex, devious, and wonderfully layered. I was hooked from the beginning and had one thought throughout the book, which consisted of “WTAF is going on??!” 😵‍💫😵‍💫 Like seriously, head scratching over here.

Poirier weaves an intelligent tale of greed, secrets, and lies. Her characters are well fleshed out, some likeable, some unreliable, some downright vicious 👀 👀

There’s a bit of jumping around of timelines (always fun) and the chapters that show the sister’s relationship when they were younger are very insightful. You can tell throughout that something ain’t right. Let’s take a moment to consider the mum… like wowsers!! 🫠🫠

Anyone looking to be a social media influencer may think twice after reading this one 😱😱

Thank you so much to Bookouture for having me on this book tour and for the gifted e-arc. I’ll definitely be checking out more of Poirier’s books!!

I really enjoyed this book. The plot was really interesting, and you can tell how well researched it was within the influencer world. It is still a mystery to me, though.

I liked the different timelines, which gave more details. The ending was just brilliant.

I was given an advance copy by netgalley and bookouture but the review is entirely my own

I found the MC very frustrating. She made a lot of weird, dumb decisions that I could never buy her reasoning for. And two

Blair and Evianna are sisters Blair is a social worker living in Seattle. Evianna is very successful social media influencer living in Orlando with her husband Simon.

Blair has long been second best so no surprise that they are not all that friendly as adults. So it actually works out that they live on opposite sides of the country.
Blair is surprised when she gets a call from Evianna telling her she has terminal cancer has only a short time to live and asks Blair to come right away.

As Blair is returning back to Seattle she gets another call this time from Evianna’s husband telling her that Evianna is missing.
Blair once again travels to Orlando. When she meets with Simon she is surprised that he wasn’t aware that she had just been there or is he aware than Evianna has cancer. In fact, he doesn’t believe it.
Blair stays in Florida to try to figure out what is going on.
This story had me curious; however, I had a difficult time really connecting with the story ~ hmm I didn’t like the narrator’s performance of the characters. She actually did a good performance of Simon but as Blair she sounded so angry. True the situation wasn’t fun but toxic; I however reached the point where I really didn’t care what happened with any of them.
I wonder if I would have enjoyed this if I read it.

This was my first story by Ms. Poirier but I will give her another chance as I believe my lack of enjoying this story was not due to her writing.

Want to thank NetGalley and Dreamscape Select, Bookouture for this early audiobook.

I received a copy of this book for free, and I leave my review voluntarily.

Dea (D.H) Poirier is the author of NEXT GIRL TO DIE, which hit #1 in the Amazon charts and the bestselling thriller FIND ME IN THE DARK. She was raised in Edmond, Oklahoma, where she got her start writing in creative writing courses. She attended The University of Central Oklahoma for Computer Science. Later, she spent time living on both coasts, and traveling the United States, before finally putting down roots in Central Florida. She now resides somewhere between Disney and the swamp.

“One can never have too many alibis.”

Holy cannoli, Batman, and Robin. This was such a deviously twisted and lusciously layered story. My brain is struggling to process what I just read.

The characters were brilliantly developed, and their traits were blinding. Blair is our somewhat unreliable narrator, and her perspective is terrifying. Evianna was an intriguing yet profoundly complex character. The dynamic between this sisterly bond is dangerous and deadly at worst.

The build for this book was intense. I was on the edge of my seat, struggling to figure out which way was up, who to trust, and pushing myself to read faster.

The free fall that is the twist in this book is shocking. Dea can bring a story to life and make her readers feel like they are right there experiencing the chaos with the characters.

When I think I couldn’t be a bigger fan of Dea, she publishes a new novel that leaves me gobsmacked.

First, I want to thank Dea Poirier, Bookouture and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I can bring you this review.

Oh Snap!!! Hold on tight because Dea Poirier takes her readers on a totally addictive, thrilling, mind blowing, insanely intense roller coaster ride that will leave you stunned in her latest Have You Seen Her. Dea’s story is unlike any missing person book you have ever read! It is a storyline that is fresh, new, and totally outside of the box! This is a must read book that needs to be on the top of your TBR List!

Right from the start I was hooked on Dea’s book! My mind was blown at how detailed Dea’s descriptions of events were. One event was so intense I was on the edge of my chair having a mini anxiety attack. I felt every emotion Blair was feeling like I was with her.

I felt connected to Blair who for years lived in her sister's shadow but at the end of the day would do anything for her! I feel many will be able to relate to her character in this regards.

If you know me I love all things pop culture. So, the fact that Eviana was a social influencer fascinated me! Dea took us into the good, bad, and ugly to the ins and outs of someone in the industry. A part of me made me think of the whole Britney Spears convership.

If you read closely you will find some insightful and meaningful messages within this storyline.

This is my first time reading this author but boy oh boy she hooked me on her work! I must read more of her stuff! Thank you to Bookouture for introducing me to her brilliant storyline.

Blair is a social worker living a quiet life in Seattle. One day, she gets a call from her older sister, Eviana, who lives in Florida telling her that she has terminal cancer. Although the two of them have never been close, Blair flies to Florida to be with her.

Eviana is a very successful social media influencer married to Simon. When she arrives, Simon tells her that Eviana has gone missing but he hasn’t notified the police. He thinks she just needs a rest and so he and her manager, Tom, will keep her posts going.

The longer Blair is there, the more she suspects that Simon may be lying and something may have happened to Eviana. As she meets her sister’s friends and checks her social media posts, the more concerned she becomes. Where is Eviana?

This is a story of lies, greed and the incredible influence social media has on people’s lives. It certainly cemented my disgust with social media and my connection to one or two sites simply to post my reviews. I had to roll my eyes at the author’s descriptions of hot Florida. I live in Florida and while I agree this has been a very hot summer, at least we don’t have miserable winter weather like other places do. So, I’ll continue to chuckle as the snowbirds flock here in the fall to escape their winter homes.

Copy provided by NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

In a world of social media, influencers, smoke and mirrors, this story will have you wondering what is real, what is fake and what is the end game for each of the players.

Blaire is a social worker, estranged from her sister since college, snippets of why are divulged as the story unfolds and she tries to discover what has happened to her sister, fearing that her husband has killed her and is bringing her back to set her up for the fall. But as Blaire investigates, she finds herself in danger, assaulted, stalked, her sisters so called friends each with something to hide, and axes to grind you get a niggling feeling that someone is orchestrating the entire scenario, manipulating the players for their own endgame and delight.

Overall, I enjoyed this book, the way it held me to the end to uncover just what was going on. No doubt other readers like me, may think why did she not go to the police when she got the call her sister might be missing and she races back to Florida from Seattle after seeing her sister for the first time in years after she calls out of the blue saying she is dying, and it did leave me with a few unanswered questions regarding another character and if what happened with them was at all linked to her sisters disappearance or was it totally separate, a red herring, a coincidence that throws you off.

Thanks, NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC

This was my first Dea Poirer book. It was an easy listen. I enjoyed the interesting plot of this dual timeline mystery.

As Simon’s behavior becomes more threatening towards me, a feeling of deep dread starts to swell. I think he knows our secret. But how far will he go to make me pay for happened and can I find my sister before it’s too late?

Thanks to NetGalley for the advanced copy of this book. This one was a roller coaster! I can't tell you how many times I thought I had it figured out, and then realized I was wrong. I thought Blair was a likeable character and really connected with her. I am on social media, but am definitely not an expert. I really went back and forth on my thoughts of Evianna and Simon throughout the book. Sometimes I thought he was the horrible one, sometimes I thought she was horrible one. Now, he was a really well written character and I never liked him throughout the book, I was just trying to figure out whether it was him or Evianna that were behind their issues.
Evianna's character was also well written. I just kept thinking about how much of this kind of thing actually happens on social media these days. There was definitely a lot of research put into the social media part of the book, which I thought made the book relevant. In the end, as in real life, you never really know who you can trust!
The flashbacks to Blair and Evianna's childhood were great. It gave a good background to their relationship, as well as their relationship with their mother, who was a horrible person.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. There a few parts that kind of repeated or dragged on a little bit, but nothing too bad. I really liked how it kept me guessing until the end!

This is an edge of the seat, toe curling addictive read. I read this in a day.

It examines the relationship between two estranged sisters and how much the life of one upends the other, despite the distance between them.

It is a complex (in a good way) web tangling book. The more you think you know the less you actually do.

Kudos to the author for the way the plot has been weaved. There are so many players all with motives that it is hard to pin one down as the suspect.

I loved how the past was rehashed so we could know and understand the beginning of the relationship between the sisters.

The plot of this book thickens as you go along. I like how the suspense played out but I still have more questions than answers.

What happens with Fiona and Claire? Were Eviana’s interactions with them part of her manipulation?

Also who killed Danica? If Eviana wasn’t abused by Simon then why did he attack Blair more than once? What was he trying to cover up?

I would love to read and discuss this with a bookclub.

This will be perfect for fans of psychological thrillers. I received a copy of this book and the review is mine.
