A killer leaves a mysterious signature—gloves found on every victim—while an ex-con FBI agent, unwilling to play by the rules, is on a rampage, and willing to stop at nothing until justice is found….
Superstar FBI Agent Morgan Cross was at the height of her career when she was framed, wrongly imprisoned, and sent to do 10 hard years in prison. Finally exonerated and set free, Morgan emerges from jail as a changed person—hardened, ruthless, closed off to the world, and unsure how to start again. When the FBI comes knocking, desperately needing Morgan to return and hunt down a killer who seems to be obsessed with drowning, Morgan is torn.
Morgan is not the same person, no longer willing to play by the rules, and will stop at nothing this time. In a non-stop thriller, it will be a deadly cat and mouse chase between a diabolical killer and an ex-con FBI agent who has nothing left to lose—with a new victim’s fate riding on it all.

As with the previous books, I enjoyed the story. I can't give 5 stars because the editing is so bad. There are obvious over sights that really take away from the enjoyment in reading the book. I continue reading these books because I am invested in the characters and story, but man, oh man... keep the story straight.. For example, you ask.. well, sure.. At one point in the story, Morgan calls Derik to come see what she discovered he comes to join her and asks what she found. In the next paragraph he's in the other room as if he never came to the basement. It's just very poor attention to detail. And for the love of God could you pick an eye color for him. Blue or green??
I have been reading this series. It started out interesting and engaging. Unfortunately it is so full of clichés, it is starting to bog down. I will probably read another one or two, hopefully all the predictable situations stop. This is labeled a suspense thriller. It is definitely not suspenseful at all. Very predictable. I have read the first 5 - now 6 of the books. They are engaging, just getting very cliched.
This book was suspenseful and filled with surprising twists. Morgan Cross is an interesting and complex character that drives the story forward with humanity and steely resolve.
I loved this series on audio but I cannot give more than 3 stars due to “Theresa” reading. If this is indeed Ai, it ruined the listening for me. Characters were the same voice..no drama. The story is getting intriguing but I hope the next one will be a Real narrator.
